BECKER - Donald (Don) Fay 1912 - 2004 Don Becker, beloved husband of Margaret of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at the age of 92 years. Don has always been surrounded by his loving family and friends and will be dearly missed. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth Becker and their son Donnie, and survived by their family, Lona (Jorgen) Munck and family, Lynnie (Forry) Angus and family, Brian Becker (Sharon Christian), Steve (Bev) Becker and family, Joey (Lawrence) Hill and family. He was predeceased by his wife Lorna Allsopp and survived by her family, Wendy Allsopp (Rod Sanderson) and family, Cathy Allsopp, and Ted Allsopp. Don is survived by Margaret's family, Helen Holmes and family, Donna Cortino and family, and Doug (Judy) McKeague and family. Don graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.A./B.Sc in Chemical Engineering and he, with his father and brother, founded and operated the Becker Oil business until he joined the RAF Transport Command at the beginning of World War II. He moved to Banff in 1946 where he managed the family business, Beckers Bungalows. Beginning in 1961 Don worked at the Banff Centre in the capacity of Associate Director for twenty years. During his retirement Don lived in Redwood Meadows and Calgary. He was recognized for his leadership and served in many community organizations. He was often seen on the ski slopes of Banff and Lake Louise until the age of eighty-seven. Don was inspirational. His belief in others touched the lives of many through his generosity, support, encouragement and regard for their potential. Funeral Services will be held at Rundle Memorial United Church (302 Buffalo Street, Banff, AB) on Friday, September 3, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. The Service will be followed by a gathering of family and friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the West Wing of the Eric Harvie Theatre at the Banff Centre. CRYDERMAN - John Robert 1954 - 2004 John Cryderman of Calgary passed away suddenly in Westbank, BC on Saturday, August 28, 2004 at the age of 49 years. After living a full life in Calgary, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of moving to Peachland, BC on July 29, 2004. Included in this move was his loving partner Leslie Stewart and her two sons, Cache and Zacary. John is the proud father of daughters, Jaclyn (DJ) Madarasz, and Nicole Cryderman; as well as the proud grandfather of Adam Madarasz. GAGLIARDI - Giuseppe Eugenio (Joe) 1923 - 2004 Giuseppe Eugenio (Joe) Gagliardi, beloved husband of Emilia of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his daughter Nella at his side, at the Beverly Centre, on Monday, August 30, 2004 at the age of 81 years. Joe was born in Malito Cosenza, Italy on August 3, 1923. He married Emilia in 1948. Joe immigrated to Alberta in 1951 and started his employment with CNR where he worked for twenty-nine years. He and Emilia spent thirty-seven years in Edmonton and then moved to Calgary in 1996. Giuseppe and Emilia loved to travel in their RV throughout North America. They later became "Snowbirds" and travelled to their condo in Mesa, AZ. When he was not travelling, Joe enjoyed going to Garage Sales, adding to his collection of treasures. Besides his loving wife of fifty-five years, Giuseppe is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Keith Clyburn of Victoria, BC, and Nella and Franco Benacchio of Calgary; a granddaughter Daniella who was the light of his life; and family in Italy. Giuseppe was predeceased by his parents Anna and Antonio; and brother Vincenzo. HADDOCK - Doris 1909 - 2004 Doris Haddock of Calgary passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 29, 2004 at the age of 95 years. Doris is survived by her sons, Chuck (Lesley) of Enderby, BC, Fred (Betty) of Calgary, AB, and Frank (Michale) of Calgary, AB; daughter Dorothy (Peter) Schoneberg of Kelowna, BC; grandchildren, Ken, Nancy, Jack, Wendy, Allan, Kari, Taeh, Brian, and Donna; great-grandchildren, Casey, Jessica, Kristine; and great-great-grandchild Jarod. Doris was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1986; two sisters, Min and Helen; and four brothers, Frank, Arthur, Ace and Billy. Doris will be remembered for her contributions to horticulture in Calgary and the province of Alberta. She was a driving force behind the preservation of historical sites in Calgary. HUNTE - W. BRO. Irwin C. (Doc) 1944 - 2004 Irwin Carlton Hunte (Doc), beloved husband of Mrs. Agnes Anita of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 27, 2004 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 59 years. Born and raised in Trinidad, Irwin came to Canada in 1969 to further his education obtaining both his B. Comm. (Finance) from the University of Alberta, as well as his Engineering tickets. In 1970, he married his best friend and longtime love Agnes Taylor and together they raised three children; Arlene, Lisa and Bradley, and welcomed daughter-in-law Avian to the family in 2004, all of whom he dearly loved. Irwin's passion for steel drum music allowed him to fuse the culture he loved to the place he called home. Besides his loving wife, Irwin is also survived by his brother Sterling (Jean); in-laws, Rose Taylor, Rosemary (Rawle) Alexander, Elizabeth (George) Osborne, Mary (Peter) Ramdin, Myrna Taylor, Robert (Deborah) Taylor and Jeffrey (Patsy) Taylor; half-siblings, Roger Dennie, and Anndeloris Chacon; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Carlton and Sylvia Hunte. As a highly respected member of the Caribbean community, Irwin will forever be remembered as a "people-person" who touched the lives of everyone he came into contact with. LEWINGTON - Ronald G. 1930 - 2004 Ronald Gervaise Lewington of Calgary passed away at the Sarcee Hospice on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at the age of 74 years. Ron was born in Peterborough, ON on August 27, 1930 and he moved to London, ON with his family at an early age. He married Patricia in 1956 and lived in Kitchener, ON for five years. In 1960, Ron, Pat and their family moved to Calgary where he was employed at the Alberta Wheat Pool until his retirement in 1990. Ron is survived by his wife Pat; his three sons, Bill (Lisa), Marshall (Linda) and Craig; and his six grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda, Curtis, Tyler, Joshua, and Christie. He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn (Bob) and Marina (Rudy); and brother Gordon. She came to Calgary and worked at the Foothills Hospital for twenty-five years. Jane traveled the world. She loved family, friends and laughter. BENJAMIN - Prosper Luc 1914 - 2004 Prosper Benjamin, age 90 years, passed away on October 6, 2004 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital. He will be greatly missed by his wife of sixty years, Annette; his children, Angelle (Barry), Rene (Valdine), Thomas (Kelly), Juliette and Gary; six grandchildren, Jennifer Kovacic (Sean), Renee Benjamin, Danielle Mendonca (Russell), David Benjamin, Krystal and Robert Hughes; one great-grandchild, Kaidyn Kovacic; sisters, Denise, Marie-Jeanne, Annette and Juliette; brothers, Leo and Henrie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Prosper was predeceased by his parents Andre and Therese Benjamin; three brothers, Clement, Gerard and Louis; and two sisters, Solange and Lucille. Prosper was born on February 9, 1914 in Edmonton, AB and soon after the family moved to St. Norbert, Manitoba to farm the fertile land south of Winnipeg. As the eldest child in a family of twelve (six boys and six girls), Prosper's huge responsibility helped develop his character which was shaped early and maintained throughout his life. He was gifted with many talents, especially around machinery. As a skilled craftsman, he was ingenious and inventive. His trademark was an incredible work ethic and common sense. In 1944, he married Annette. His commitment to his family and faith was carried out with the same tenacity and skill. We are all better for knowing Prosper and will continue to celebrate his life by living life to the fullest each day. BROWN - Kelly Michelle 1967 - 2004 Kelly Brown, beloved wife of Dan Brown of Calgary, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, October 4, 2004 at the age of 37 years. Here in Calgary, Kelly worked at Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. When she was not working, she enjoyed karate and was active at A.C.K.U. Karate. Besides her loving husband, Kelly is remembered by a daughter and a son-in-law, Faith and Mike D'Aloisio; a son Ryan Wilson; a daughter Stephanie Brown; and two grandchildren, Jade and Michelle.
