PLACIDA DONVITO (nee BRUNO) Peacefully on May 6, 2004, Placida Donvito passed away in Toritto, Bari, Italy, at the age of 88. She was born icon in Bitritto, Bari, Italy, on January 28, 1916, and resided most of her life in Modugno, Bari, Italy. Placida was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Paola, on December 16, 1994. Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Maria (Angelo) Pentrelli of Winnipeg, Pietro (Paola) of Italy, Fedelina (Vito) Fumai of Italy, Domenico (Margherita) of Italy, Angelina of Italy, Joe (Toni) of Winnipeg, grandchildren, Paolo Pentrelli, Eugene (Angie) Pentrelli, Lina Pentrelli, Paul Donvito, and great-grandchild Maria Pentrelli, all of Winnipeg and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren all from Italy. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Winnipeg, MB with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding.

RANDY ENGSTROM

RANDY CHARLES ENGSTROM Peacefully and with great courage and dignity on Friday, June 18, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. as the school bell rang Randy lost his most courageous battle at his home. Gently eased from this world to a better place holding hands with those he loved the most to be greeted by his predeceased grandparents, Engstrom and Lindgren. Left in this world to miss Randy will be the "love of his life" Susan; his children, Michael, Megan; and stepsons, Jesse and Tyler of Winnipeg; as well Randy's parents, Webb and Laura; brother David (Carole), nephews, Mark and Jeff all of Kenora; many wonderful uncles and aunts and cousins of Minneapolis, Calgary, Kenora and Winnipeg. Randy was a devoted school teacher at St. John's High School, where he spent many years as Department Head of the Industrial Arts program and most recently teaching in Special Education. At the time of his diagnoses he was working toward his Post Baccalaureate at the University of Manitoba. Randy loved to learn as much as he loved to teach. Randy was an avid golfer and a member for many years at St. Boniface Golf Club. He had a beautiful swing and was known as "ERNIE ELS of St. B". Randy was a passionate and gifted woodworker. Evident in the home he built as well as many special projects for others. Randy was blessed with many good friendships because he was a good friend. His "sunshine" on cloudy days was his "Girlfriend" mother-in-law Jackie Harrison. We would like to thank Dr. Janice Mulder, Orit Weber, Myrna Brownlee, Caroline Hannah, as well as Kim, Tanis and our other HCAs and all our friends at St. John's High School, and our dear friends that continue their support through this journey. MARY-ELLEN FINCH (nee GRAHAM) After a short battle with cancer, Mary-Ellen Finch, aged 91, passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital at 8:45 p.m., on Saturday, June 19, 2004. She was predeceased by her parents, Ada and Richard Graham; and her brothers, Walter, James and Les. Mary-Ellen is survived by her loving husband Jack, of 52 years; her son John; grandson Wayne; granddaughter Alicia; great-grandson Shay; nieces, Joyce, Trish and Nancy; nephew Alan; and great-nieces and nephews. Mary-Ellen worked in the secretarial pool at Great West Life up until her marriage to Jack in 1952. Family would like to thank the staff at the Concordia, Grace and St. Boniface Hospitals for the care shown to Mary-Ellen. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 24 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow. MARGARET HANSEY On Friday, June 18, 2004 Margaret passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital aged 84 years. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Walter in January 1995; sons, Ron and Gary; and two sisters. JAMES HARASYM March 11, 1935 - June 16, 2004 After a short battle with cancer we've lost our loving father, husband and brother at the age of 69. Dad was surrounded by his family through his final days. Dad was a man who rarely left his farm in Okno where he could be found cutting grass, weeding, or working the farm land right up until recently. Dad will be dearly missed, he was always there for us, with advice, with love and his many years of experience to help us throughout our lives. James was predeceased by his father John in 1976; and just recently by his mother Stella in October of 2003. He is survived by his wife Valerie and his sons, James Jr. and Andy; daughter-in-law Rebecca; brother Gerald and his sister-in-law Valerie. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Okno Cemetery. ANTONIO IANNONE

ANTONIO IANNONE It is only with the deepest regret that our family marks the sudden and unexpected passing of Antonio Iannone, during the early morning hours of Saturday, June 19, 2004. Antonio was born icon on January 14, 1920, in Quaglietta, Avellino, Italy. In the summer of 1941, he married his loving and caring wife, Assunta, who predeceased him in 2002. He and his family immigrated to Canada in 1964. Antonio will be fondly remembered by his two children, Rosaria and her husband Rocco Curatolo, and Carmine and his wife Teresa; his five grandchildren, Gina Curatolo, Marisa (Michael) Johnson, Silvana (Mark) Hanson, Anthony and Christina; his five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Evan, Nicholas, Haley, and Julia; his nephew Gerardo (Anna) Boniello; along with his large and ever loving extended family. Strong and independent until his far too swift departure from this earth, he never failed to show every one of us how much he loved and cared for us. Antonio and his soulmate Assunta, together now forever in the kingdom of heaven, will be in our hearts and thoughts for eternity. ERIC NILS JACOBSON We are saddened to announce the passing of Eric on June 19, 2004. He was born icon on July 28, 1913 in Point du Bois, MB. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey in 1995. Eric is survived by his sister Violet Tait and numerous nieces and nephews. Eric was a gentle, proud and ambitious man, working at whatever jobs there were to offer to make a living throughout his life - his favourite being an engineer on the Great Lakes freight ships. One of his great joys was entertaining people with his accordian. He was a true gentleman. MARIA KOS January 7, 1927 - June 18, 2004 On June 18, 2004, Maria Kos, after a recent heart attack and a lengthy battle with diabetes., passed away in her sleep, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 77. Maria is survived by daughter Nadia; son Martin Jr. (Louise) and grandchildren, Sonia (Joe), Jason (Rhonda), LeeAnn and Jayme; great-grandchildren, Eric, Brandon, Nicole, Lucas and Coralee, as well as numerous relatives in Europe. Maria was predeceased by husband Martin Sr. in 1987. Born in Maribor, Slovenia, Maria came to Canada with Martin Sr. and Nadia in 1958 to make a better life. She worked in the healthcare field for 14 years at the Municipal Hospitals (Riverview), before a career change. She then worked at Motorcoach Industries for the next 20 years as a machine operator until she retired. Maria will be sorely missed by friends and family for her quick wit and sense of humour. We will miss you mom, oma, friend. MARJORIE LYNCH (GARRAWAY) Suddenly on Thursday, June 17, 2004 Marjorie Lynch passed away at the Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Patrick, two brothers Cecil and Ron, two sisters May and Phyllis, and one grandson Joshua She is survived by daughter Patricia Lucas (Neil), sons, Jim (Donna), Wayne (Marlene), Ron (Brenda), and Gary (Leslie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom lived for the love of her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren whom she adored. Marjorie was born icon in Winnipeg, attending school in St.James where she met and married Patrick Lynch. She enjoyed a 20 year career as an LPN at Winnipeg Municipal Hospitals where her coworkers fondly referred to her as "Mother Lynch". Her favourite activities were bowling at Park Alleys, bingo, carpet bowling, and her special outings with Kathy Pauls. Her family wishes to thank all of the staff of CD2, Riverview Health Centre for the wonderful care extended to Marjorie. You are all very Special People. ROBERT "BOB" DONALD McLEAN Peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2004, at home surrounded by his family, Robert passed away. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Don (Gladys), Cheryl (Brian), Karen (Dave), Julie (Mike), Ian, Mathew and Rob; grandchildren, Christine and Nicole, Steven and Scott, Michaela and Jayden; also his sister Bonnie Freeborn (Doug) and nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his father, Gordon, December 31, 1978 and his mother, Anne, January 18, 1986. Robert started working at an early age, beside his parents at McLean's Tomboy, 1115 Corydon Ave. later to be known as McLean's Food Market. This became such a large love of his life, meeting, greeting and serving his customers, many becoming lifelong friends. This love and dedication stayed with Robert all his life and this dedication enabled him to work as a meat department manager at Eddy O's World Market in Winnipeg up until two weeks of his passing. But Robert's greatest joy was the time he spent at home with his family. Whether it was camping, attending sporting events or just sitting, watching NFL on Sundays, Robert drew great pride and enjoyment from them all. Robert's sense of humour carried him through his many medical problems over the last year and stayed with him at home over the last two weeks. It was this keen sense of humour that sustained his family through this difficult time. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the palliative and homecare workers who helped make Robert's wish to be at home possible. Special thanks to Heather, Chris, and homecare worker Amy. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Ave. (corner Harrow and Mulvey). IAN ROBERT MENZIES 1948 - 2004 Ian passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2004 at the age of 55. He is survived by his loving parents, Lloyd and Alice; his three children, Sean (Dana), Vanessa (Scott) and Colin and also five grandchildren, Amber, Zoe, Corwin, Anthony and Sydney; his sister Sandra (Bob) and his nephew Cameron. In keeping with the family wishes, Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held on Saturday, June 19, 2004. He'll always be remembered As a man, both strong and good Who gave his best for others And who did the best he could He'll always be remembered For all the joy he brought He'll always be remembered As a man who meant a lot Ian grew up in Winnipeg and was known for his zest for life. He was an open-minded person who was a friend to all. He was generous, kind and would do anything for a friend or family. He was an avid reader who loved to have long discussions on the latest books he had read. His gentle humour characterized his conversation. Having played sports in his youth but having to stop because of a heart condition, he became an avid fan of football and hockey. Though his later life was fraught with difficulty he still remained optimistic, and his tremendous kindness to others never waivered. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. TARAS MICHALISHYN

TARAS (TERRY) MICHAEL MICHALISHYN It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Taras (Terry) Michael Michalishyn on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at the age of 56. Taras was born icon on Saturday, September 13, 1947, in Winnipeg, and grew up in Narol, MB. Second youngest of a family of four brothers, and sisters, young Taras could always be found helping in the family garden or under the hood of a car with his brother Morris. After a brief career in Business Administration, he went on to receive his degree in Interior Design, and moved to Toronto where he gained employment in his chosen field. Never liking to sit still, Taras filled any spare time he had with numerous activities such as rowing, cross country skiing, biking and going for long walks with his dog Razor. He also gained a great friend in John Landry who passed away in 2003. Taras is survived by his mother Helen Michalishyn; sisters, Elsie Gillies and her husband Gordon, Marianne Shirtliff and her husband Daryl; and sister-in-law Rosiland Staple and her husband Brian. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Taras was predeceased by his father Peter Michalishyn; brother Morris Michalishyn; and friend John Landry. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Ave., with Rt. Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk officiating. Cremation to follow. Private family interment of his cremated remains will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Taras's memory made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
