SHERMAN CLARK
M. SHERMAN CLARK M. Sherman Clark, well respected Grandview and area resident passed away on Saturday evening, June 26, 2004 at the age of 90 years. Sherman was predeceased by his beloved wife Maisie Hall (Brown) on July 20, 1998. Sherman was past Reeve and Councillor of the Rural Municipality of Grandview for a number of years. Sherman and Maisie operated an Illustration Farm Station in conjunction with the Federal Department of Agriculture for over 17 years. The station was utilized in testing different crop varieties under varying conditions. His community involvement and interests were varied - a past director of the United Grain Growers, a past member of the Oddfellows Lodge, a school trustee, past member of the Grandview Hospital Board and the Dauphin Health Group, a member of the Progressive Conservative Party, a past member of the Grandview-Gilbert Plains Fair Board, a past member of the Civil Defense Group and the Grandview-Gilbert Plains Weed Control Board, a member of the Gilbert Plains Golf and Country Club, a past member of the Grandview Curling Club. Born on November 22, 1913, to Marret Clark and Mary Jane Leitch (Tenbrooke) in the Mountain Gap District of Grandview. All his life was spent in Grandview and area with the exception of an earlier period when the Clark Family relocated to Mercedes, TX, U.S.A. Sherman and Maisie were united in marriage on November 16, 1936 at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Dauphin, MB. Their union was blessed with two children. In 1996, they celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. Sherman and Maisie farmed for close to 40 years in the Duck Mountain District of Grandview. Besides his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his son-in-law George A. Cox; a brother Melvin; a sister-in-law Marjorie McLean; five brothers-in-law, Bob Boughen, Glen McLean, Bert Topham, Woodrow Storey and Ron Hall. Sherman is survived by his daughter Sheila B. Cox of Selkirk, MB and his son Grant Clark of Calgary, AB; his grandson
Greg (Denise) Cox of Winnipeg; his granddaughter Pam (Brent) Wall of Clandeboye; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Andrew Cox of Winnipeg; three sisters, Ada Boughen of Dauphin, Ida Storey of Grandview and Ena and her husband Sam Leskiw of Brandon; three sisters-in-law, Marie Clark and Thora Topham of Grandview and Frances Hall of Kelowna, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a large number of cousins throughout North America. An Anglican funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m. from the Grandview United Church. Rev. Paul Crossland and Rev. Ann Crossland will officiate and interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the service. MILLICENT ELIZABETH DONNELLY It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at the Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband W. Vern of 53 years; her parents, Henry and Dorothy; her devoted sister Audrey; and brother Stewart. She is survived by her sons, Richard, Brian (Kres), Lyle (Pat) and Paul-Sean; daughters, Marta (Jim) and Deirdre; brother Patrick; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Alec) and Iris; as well as her special granddaughter Asha Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Winnipeg, Millicent graduated from Kelvin High School and worked at Transcontinental Air until her marriage to Vern. They raised six children together where Millicent was Queen Bee of her family. She enjoyed gardening, reading current events, cooking, bike riding, Grand Beach, movies, ballet and debating issues. She was a big Blue Bomber fan and sports fan in general. She was wonderful to her neighbours and their children. Millicent was extremely active in Vern's career, Air Crew associations and Masonic Lodge. But most importantly she was involved with her children and their lives. She kept involved and loved her time with her family until her passing. She will be deeply missed. We would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital and Dr. Jerry Drexler for their care. GLEN WILLIAM FINNEY Peacefully, on Sunday, June 27, 2004 Glen William Finney passed away at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Alice; sons, Ken (Holly) of Kelowna BC, Gary (Tanis) of Winnipeg, Wayne (Angela) of Winnipeg; daughter Valerie (Wayne) of Winnipeg; and grandchildren, Teya and Colby, Tyler Colin and Kayla, Heather, Richelle Talia and Lauryn, and Shaylynn. He will be missed by Hank (Sandy) with son Larry of Stoney Creek, ON. Glen is also survived by his brother Dave; sisters, Isabelle Tonn and Ruth Kirkland. Dad was predeceased by his daughter Shelley; his parents, Richard and Mary-Ann; along with his brothers, Robert and John. Glen was born
in Grass River, MB on November 24. Glen spent most of his working years in Thompson, MB where he worked underground and raised his family with Alice in the 1960s and 1970s. He loved country music, rural living, the prairies, the Rocky Mountains, and the railroad across the West. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with an interment and reception to follow. MICHELE JUDITH FOSTER (nee TRUBYK) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Michele, 51, on June 28, 2004 at Riverview Health Centre. She will be sadly missed by her husband Brian; sons, Michael and Mathew; brother Dennis Trubyk (Sandy); nieces, Breean and Brittany; sisters, Carol Byskal and Cheryl Hooke (Gary). She was predeceased by her father Michael Trubyk, "Grandma" McQueen and brother-in-law Bill Byskal. She was born
in Fort William, ON and moved to Winnipeg in the late 50s and attended schools in Elmwood. Upon graduation from St. John's Business School, she worked eight years at Federated Insurance. She then spent 10 years at home looking after her "Three Favourite Boys". She returned to the workforce in 1993 to work for Zellers, Charleswood Centre for 11 and a half years. She will be remembered as a loving, generous hardworking individual who put family and friends first. Many thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Riverview Health Centre for their loving care to Michele and our family. EVA HORANSKI (nee HARRISON) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing our sister, mother and grandmother Eva Horanski on June 28, 2004 at the Selkirk General Hospital, at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1994; parents, Mark and Mary Harrison; brothers, Mike, Tom and Fred. She leaves to mourn her son Brian (Michelle), grandsons, Milan and Taryn; son Mark (Anita), grandsons, Aaron, Luke and Travis; brother Ozie (Betty); and sister Dora, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mother was born
November 29, 1919 in East Selkirk, MB and spent her early years growing up on the family farm. Eva married her husband George in June of 1942 and worked together on their own farm in Walkleyburg until retirement in 1978 where upon they moved into Selkirk. Some of Mother's favourite times were spent gardening, baking, visiting with family and friends and enjoying a good game of cards with the girls at the Selkirk Knights Centre. She had a quick wit and was never shy when it come to pitching in to help out whenever someone needed a hand. Mother dearly loved her five grandsons and especially enjoyed when they came to visit so that she could bake for them. The grandsons brought a special glow and purpose to her later years - she loved to be with them. Mother we will all miss you. Prayers will be held on Thursday, July 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. in the Knox Presbyterian Church in Selkirk with Rev. Matthew Brough officiating. JACK ISAAK On Monday, June 28, 2004 Jack Isaak, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 83. Jack leaves to mourn his passing and treasure his memory his wife of 54 years, Katie; his children, Henry (Linda), Louise, Paul (Joan), Patricia and Susan. He will also be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Lee, Jason, Justin, Kendra, Morgan, Trevor, Andrew, Cara, Lindsey, Court and Bobbie. Jack is also survived by his siblings, Tina (Jake) Penner, John (Helen), Hank (Sue), Lee (Ike) Penner, Gief (Martin) Fehr; and Katie's siblings, Henry (Anne) Neufeld, Elsie (Peter) Suderman, Bruno (Freda) Neufeld, Olga (Morris) Rychliwski as well as many nieces and nephews who will have fond memories of their Uncle Jack. Born in Russia in 1921, Jack came to Canada with his parents at a young age where they settled on a farm near Rivers, MB. Jack met his future wife Katie at a "Sangerfest" in Whitewater in 1949. They married on June 22, 1950 in the Whitewater Church and settled on a farm until he entered Normal School in Winnipeg in 1951. Teaching became not only Dad's job but a 33 year journey that saw him teach in Strasberg, Purvis, Cartwright, Minto and Morden, where he taught 26 years until he retired in 1985. Dad's dedication to education went beyond his classroom. He worked diligently as an active member of the Western Teachers' Association, the Manitoba Teachers' Society and, after his retirement, Retired Teachers' Association of Manitoba. Throughout all those years, Dad kept his connection to his love of farming by working as a crop inspector for the Department of Agriculture every summer. After his retirement, Dad spent many years perfecting his skill as a craftsman and we will cherish the many beautiful pieces of furniture that he lovingly built for us. Dad was deeply spiritual man who spent many years serving the Mennonite Church in every community where they lived. He was also a very active community member, serving on the Board of Morden and District Museum and the MSTW Planning Commission. His leadership was evident on every committee and he will always be remembered for his strong sense of commitment to his family, his church, and his community. Nothing gave Dad more pride and pleasure than spending time with his family He was very involved in the activities of his children and grandchildren, and was always eager to hear our stories and offer his advice. He especially liked to watch and talk baseball with his grandchildren and to share their many accomplishments. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and compassionate care at a very difficult time. KATHERINE HILDA KATE Katherine Hilda Kate (nee Griswold), late of Kelowna, BC passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27, 2004 in her 93rd year. She was predeceased by her first husband Worrell Slade in 1966. Left to cherish her memory are her present husband John Kate and his family, son Donald Slade (Evelyn), grandchildren, Debra (Peter), Timothy (Lynne), Patricia, Donna (Jeff) and great-grandchildren, Laura and Emma Kent. NELLIE KOROPAS After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Nellie passed away on Monday, June 28, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by both parents. Nellie leaves to celebrate her memory, husband Joe; sons, Randy (Sandy), Gary, Jason (Cassandra); sister Ann; brother Bill; three grandchildren, Scott, Nicole and Kaitlin; and numerous friends. Nellie was a loving mother and baba to her children and grandchildren. Birthdays were always an important event at the house, as she enjoyed cooking family dinners. She loved to volunteer at the church and served there faithfully. Seldom did she complain about her pain and always managed a smile for everyone. The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to Dr. J. Lezak and Dr. G.E. Ullyot, the wonderful nurses on the 5th floor at Seven Oaks Hospital and the many friends who visited with her. and raised in Molson, MB. He moved to Winnipeg and married Mary-Jean in 1956. Lawrence worked as a Pressman at Systems Business Forms (Datamark Systems) until his retirement in 1999. His passions in life were: enjoying the races at Victory Lane Speedway, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and bonfires near Molson and woodworking. in Calgary, moving to Manitoba in his early years. He worked various jobs throughout his life, but his most cherished moments were being a dad. He loved life, had a huge heart for individuals with "intellectual disabilities" from which he made many friends. It was during these times that love flowered through him, spreading happiness and smiles throughout many faces. He cherished his parents and siblings, loving every moment he could spend with them and being thankful for their love. A private family service will be held at the Carman Pentecostal Church.
