LIBIN - Rose 1909 - 2004 Rose Libin of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Monday, June 21, 2004 at the age of 94 years. Rose was born in Russia and came to Calgary as a young woman in 1926, moving first to Strathmore and later to Calgary where she become very active in several Jewish women's organizations most particularly Hadassah-WIZO. She was proud to be a Charter Member of the Shaarey Tzedec Synagogue and remained very active on several committees; her favourite being the Hadassah Bazaar which she proudly chaired. She was also a successful and savvy businesswoman owning and operating her own Ladies' Wear shop and helping her husband in his various businesses. She showed great strength and determination and her friendships and family were most dear to her. Her passing is a great loss to her family, friends and community and she will be deeply missed. Rose was the beloved mother of two sons, Bernard and Gilbert (Mary). She is also survived by three grandchildren, Sean, Stephen and Miriam; and two step-grandchildren, Shelley (Myles) and Tracy (Mark). She was blessed with what she called her "true joys", five great-grandchildren, Sam, Austin, Quinn, Reed, and Alexandra. Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband and soulmate of fifty-eight years, Samuel and her son Bernard. Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (1702 - 17 Avenue S.W.) today, June 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Jewish Cemetery (30 Avenue and Erlton Street S.W.). KEMP - Robert James (Jim) Passed away March 6, 2004 at Victoria, B.C. KERNAGHAN - Nettie Marie Nettie Marie Kernaghan passed away July 13, 2004. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gerry (Marion), Joan (Jack), Donna (Dick), Jackie (Jim), Norma, Sharon (Garry) and Linda (Wayne); thirty-three grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Dave; her children, Melvin, Bob and Audrey. Nettie was born March 4, 1909 in Calgary and resided in Langdon and the Strathmore area. She was a life member of the Langdon I.O.O.F. Rebekah Lodge, The Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary and Royal Purple. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Strathmore and Drumheller Extended Health Care units. KNOX - Thelma Lucille Thelma Lucille passed away at the Forest Grove Care Centre on July 14, 2004. Thelma was born in Deitz, Wyoming on August 31, 1906. She came to Canada at the age of ten months. She and her mom and paternal grandmother arrived in Edmonton by train where her father was waiting for them with his ox team. It took many days to make the trip to the Mayerthorpe area where they homesteaded. Thelma was very ambitious and a hard worker, she was a great Calgary Flames and Stampeder Fan. She was predeceased by her husband Frank; son Vernon Roberts; son-in-law Lloyd Deines; and two great-grandsons, two brothers and a sister. She leaves to mourn her passing, daughters, Kathleen (Kay) Deines, Vivian (Clem) Lacasse of Calgary and Bea (Ed) Boyd of California; also stepchildren, Orville (Betty) Knox of Castlegar, B.C., Adrian (Pearl) Knox and Edna (John) Boyko of Calgary; one brother Max Barney and sister-in-law Marg Barney of Mayerthorpe, Alberta; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A special thank you to the staff at Forest Grove Care Centre for the care given to mom during her stay. LAMB - Viola Isabel (nee Larratt) 1921 - 2004 Mrs. Viola Lamb passed away peacefully at home and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Viola was born in Innisfail, AB and has lived in Calgary since 1946. She will be lovingly remembered by Robert Lamb, her husband of fifty-eight years; her children, Edward (Glynis) and Edna (Louis) Nord, both of Calgary, and Murray of Vancouver, B.C. She is also survived by her brother Fraser (Helen) Larratt of Calgary; her sister Dorothy Larratt of Claresholm, AB; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Cleveland Larratt and Arthur Larratt. LEONG - Henry Quoy Yuen Henry Quoy Yuen passed away suddenly on July 13, 2004 at the age of 81 years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Beverly of fifty-four years; daughters, Susan (Darrell), Patti (Pete), Wendy (Tom); grandchildren, Meisha, Kaara, Elliot and Chad. Daisy and Benji will miss their daily walks. Henry has now departed on his final trip, as he loved to cruise the oceans. LOVELL - Frank Frank Lovell died peacefully after a lengthy illness at the Rockyview Hospital on July 15, 2004, at the age of 90 years. McINDOE - Marjorie Victoria (nee Nelson) Marjorie McIndoe (nee Nelson) passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the age of 85 years, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta on July 2, 1919. Marge was predeceased by her mother Esther (nee Sederberg) and father Gust Nelson, who both emigrated from Sweden; her husband of thirty-eight years, Jim; sister Dorothy Dawson and brother Bev Nelson. She is survived by her daughter Deanne (Chris Taylor) and granddaughters, Leah and Britt of Surrey, BC; son Jim (Laurie) and grandchildren, James, Leanne and Brendan of Calgary; son Trevor (Carol) and granddaughter Tara of Calgary; brother Ed (Shirley) Nelson and family of Surrey, BC. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins, and their families who loved her dearly. Marge took her RNA and was a dedicated employee of the Bethany Care Centre for many years. She was a faithful forty year member of The Order of The Eastern Star, Friendship Chapter No. 125; a long-time member of the Canadian Legion and an enthusiastic volunteer for Theatre Calgary. She had a passion for travel and journeyed extensively over the last thirty years. Her curiosity for life and love of family and friends endeared her to all whose lives she touched. A gentle, caring spirit and a good sense of humour guided her through life with purpose and dignity. She will be greatly missed. FATICA - Carmina 1925 - 2004 Carmina Fatica of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Sarcee Hospice on Thursday, July 22, 2004, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 79 years. Carmina was born on January 8, 1925 in Oratino Campabasso. She came to Canada in 1962 with her two sons to join her husband. Carmina loved to spend time in her garden, tending to her flowers and with her family, having everyone over. Carmina is survived by her two sons and two daughters-in-law, Angelo and Maria and Ermanno and Wilma, all of Calgary; her grandchildren, Silvio, Michela, Silvia (Randy), and Chris; three sisters and two brothers, all of Italy. Carmina was predeceased by her husband Silverino.
