JOHANNES TIMMERMAN

JOHANNES (JOHN) TIMMERMAN Papa John, Pappie, Johannes, Dad, grandpa, great-grandpa... no matter how you knew him, you knew he was a good man. As a dad, he cared and provided for his family. His efforts helped build a good home whose doors were always open to family and friends alike. Dad was born icon in Holland in 1921, the ninth of eleven children. During the War years, John was deported to a labour camp where he met his beloved wife with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary next year. In 1955 he and his family immigrated to Canada where he would eventually work with Metropolitan Construction and then Qualico where he served as superintendent of plumbing and heating. John was a hard worker and a valued employee until his retirement. Much of his retirement allowed him the time to read, follow sports, relax and he loved the opportunity to spend time with his family. John was also a man who contributed to his community in a number of ways. He was a church council member at St. Casimir's Catholic Church, he volunteered many hours to the Lithuanian community and he was a gold drop recipient as a blood donor. Most importantly, John was a person who was honest and honourable, loving and caring. His support as a father, his joy of life, and his trusting good nature made him an unforgettable and special man. John is survived by his wife Tekle; his daughter Imeke (Jeff Kehr) and children John (Christine), David and Charlene; his son Algirdas and children Stephanie (Stewart Brick) and great-grandchild Zoe, Algirdas Jr. and Daniel, special friend Kendra; his son Marijus, wife Jennifer Moroz and child Lukas; as well as a large extended family in Holland. You will always be in our hearts, your voice will ring in our ears and your love will always shine in our lives. May God keep you until we meet again. At an early age, her family moved to Glenmoor where she attended school, helped raise her younger siblings, and quit school early to work hard on the family farm. As a young woman, she moved to Winnipeg on her own and worked at various jobs, often returning home bearing gifts for her younger brothers and sisters. One of her many jobs included cooking in the bush camps in the winter, where she caught the eye of a young man by the name of Clarence Baker. Not wasting any time, Clarence proposed a month later and they were married on September 22, 1951. They lived on the Baker homestead in Cromwell and raised their five children, working together to build the family farm. Their home was often the centre of lively gatherings for family and friends, and visitors were always welcome. Ilene was an independent, creative, resourceful woman with a deep inner strength and abiding faith. Her interests included cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, bingo, and later in life, travelling. Her greatest joy was her "Baker's Dozen" of grandchildren, of whom she was extremely proud. Mom has left us with a legacy of inner strength, perseverance, warmth and love. Her memory and teachings will guide us and will live on in our hearts forever. In accordance with Ilene's wishes, cremation has taken place.
