TERENCE KANE

TERENCE AKERLIND KANE It is with love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Terence Akerlind Kane at his home at Clearwater Lake, Saturday, August 14, 2004. He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife Jean, of 52 years; children: Shirley (Barry), Jim, David (Nancy), Tanice (Peter), Thomas (Bruce), Bill (Janice) and Minda (Patrick). Terry was blessed with seven grandchildren: Sharlene, Bradley, Sharon, Chloe, Graeme, Kristopher and Rowan, three great-grandchildren: Breanne, Erin, and Kaylee, and two step-grandchildren Karin and David. Terry was proud of all his family and loved them dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Stella and Samuel Kane; and sister Joan Wylie. He is survived by his brothers, Thomas of Winnipeg, and Bill (Bunny) of Saint John, NB. He is also survived by numerous relatives in Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. Born in Winnipeg Tuesday, February 3, 1931, Terry spent his childhood growing up in St. Vital. He attended Windsor School, Norberry School, and Glenlawn Collegiate. Terry enjoyed a 40-year career with C.N. Rail, starting as an operator, then a dispatcher in Winnipeg, and Chief Dispatcher in The Pas, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. During his time and travels he developed a love for the North, and when he retired from C.N. in 1989, moved to Clearwater Lake, where he built his retirement home. This was a very special place for Terry and his family. However, Terry was one not to sit still, and did consulting work for CN on the C.A.T.S. and T.I.B.S and other projects. Terry was a very accomplished man and a "jack of all trades" carpenter, electrician, pilot and computer whiz. All these were completed with perfection and pride. Terry enjoyed involvement with politics and community, and he loved nothing better than debating, with much gusto all these interests. He was the vice-president of the "Clearwater Lake Cottage Owners Association". Terry was one of the founding members of "The Coalition of Manitoba Cottagers In Provincial Parks" wherein he was instrumental in working with the government to ensure the Constitutional Rights of all Canadians to enjoy our provincial parks, now and for future generations. The family would like to thank the many caregivers, especially Dr. Pinder, Judy and Winona, for their kindness and compassion. A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, August 20, 2004, 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home in The Pas, with James Hemauer presiding. A gathering of family and friends to follow at the Clearwater Lake Social Club, The Pas Airport. If friends so desire, donations in Terry's memory made to Cancer Care Manitoba, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg. MB R3E 0V9 would be appreciated by his family. Condolences can be e-mailed to Hemauer Funeral Home at hfh1@mts.net Dad Your parting has left a void in us But we will fill it through the years With thoughts of laughter that we shared Your hopes, your dreams, your fears. We know that you are resting from the sorrow and the tears In a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days or years. You will go on living in the hearts of those you touched For nothing loved is ever lost And you were loved so very much. Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, in care of arrangements. 204-623-3261

GORDON REYNOLDS

GORDON REYNOLDS It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Gordon William Reynolds, on August 14, 2004 at the Deer Lodge Hospital for Veterans. Not long after arrival from Dovershire, England, Charles and Lilly Reynolds were awarded land near Lundar, MB. Soon after on August 30, 1910 they added Gordon to their family. Growing up on the farm, Gordon heartily loved his country upbringing and shared his cherished memories through stories. As a boy, Gordon loved the garden and cooking with his Mom, thrashing and baseball with his Dad, carpentry, poetry writing and music. In church he played the organ and later in life, enjoyed sharing the stage on occasion with Marg Osborne and Don Messer of "Don Messer's Jubilee" Fame where his talents with the organ, harmonica and the spoons added to the entertainment. After his mother died, Gordon left the farm, proudly and willingly joining the Army, defending his country in the Second World War. Upon arrival home, he learned of his father's passing and the sad but necessary sale of the farm. Gordon enjoyed many hobbies and activities, proudly displaying his many bowling trophies. Over the years, he held various occupations including his favourite, caretaking apartment buildings which he did well after his retirement. Gordon will however best be remembered for his generosity and acts of kindness, always willing to help however he could, for he truly was a caretaker not only of buildings, but of people as well. He was known to leave his door forever unlocked in case someone may need refuge in the middle of the night, often giving up his own bed to friend or stranger in need of rest and a hot cup of tea. His kindness was unending and his ever-present cheerful optimism reflective in his sparkling blue eyes. A friend to many gone before him and many left to remember him, he will be truly missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his life. Uncle Gordon will be especially missed by his longtime friends Doris Seavers, Louise Fayowski, Dennis and Renee Gusta and family, Jesse, Sara and Lee (Joe) Gusta. We would like to thank the staff of the Deer Lodge Hospital D7 for the care Uncle Gordon received during his stay, and to the Public Trustee for approval of his final arrangements. We appreciate your kindness beyond words. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. "At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember him." Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca
