SUZANNE "SUE" MARIE GRAVES (nee HOTTE) 1951 - 2003 On Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Suzanne "Sue" Marie Graves (nee Hotte), aged 53 years, of Winnipeg, MB formerly of Ottawa, ON went to her eternal rest. Sue's passion, along with her loving husband Rick, was music and travel. Sue lived in many different places in the world. She and Rick most recently moved to Winnipeg from their home in Toronto. Sue considered her friends so very important in her life. As they all knew Sue showed consideration and generosity to all with true loving sincerity. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Rick Graves of Winnipeg and her father Rene Hotte of Ottawa. She was predeceased by her mother Cecile Hotte. HOWARD HOUGH

HOWARD ASA HOUGH June 9, 1927 - July 21, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and friend. Asa was predeceased by his former wife Theresa in 2003. He leaves his mother Kay; brother Earle (Lilian); son Howard (Carol); daughters, Diane and Helene (John). He will be missed by his grandchildren Daniel, Sasha and Shauna and three great-grandchildren. Asa was a kind, generous man. Although a private person, he had many friends and was well liked by everyone. Asa lived life to the fullest, loved a party and always had an eye for a beautiful woman. He was an avid golfer, some of the best times of his life were spent with friends on the golf course. He was always extremely happy when he played well enough to take their money! He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. At Asa's request there will be no memorial service. He will be laid to rest beside his father. His family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Unit at the Vancouver General Hospital for all their loving care. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 30 at Brookside Cemetery. Friends are asked to gather at the office before proceeding to the graveside. A reception will follow. WILLIAM HUNCHAK

WILLIAM ROGER HUNCHAK It is with much sorrow that Bill's family announces his untimely passing, after a brief battle with cancer, on Sunday, August 22, 2004 at the Peach Arch Hospital, Extended Care Unit, White Rock, BC. Bill is survived by his sister Olga Potiewski; brother Arthur (Lillian); brother Peter (Donna); sister Florence Zayac (Julian); sister Gwen Campbell (Colin); sister Virginia Mathews (Sandy); brother-in-law Paul Harasymchuk and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Steve Hunchak; sister Patricia Harasymchuk; brother and sister-in-law George and Phyllis; sister and brother-in-law, Josephine Muha and Elmer; brother-in-law Fred Potiewski; and an infant sister, brother and niece. Bill was born icon June 14, 1946 at the Pine Falls Hospital. He grew up on the family farm in Springwell, MB. He attended Red Deer School and Lac du Bonnet Collegiate. Bill got a summer job in 1962 with Manitoba Hydro and after graduating from High School in 1963, he returned to work for Manitoba Hydro. His career was working in transmission and distribution of hydropower. In 1973 Bill moved to B.C. and at the time of his death he was employed by B.C. Hydro. Bill truly lived life to the fullest. Over the years he enjoyed travelling, sky diving, skiing, fishing, golf and most of all spending time with his many friends. Bill will be sadly missed by his family and his friends in Manitoba, British Columbia and California. In compliance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be in the family plot in Lac du Bonnet, MB at a later date. The family thanks the Doctors and Staff that cared for Bill at the MSA Hospital in Abbotsford, The Fraser Valley Cancer Centre in Surrey, The Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster and The Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

JOAN HUNT

JOAN EDITH HUNT (nee ADAMSON) On August 24, 2004 Joan Edith Hunt, beloved wife of the late Mr. Justice John MacLean Hunt, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Health Sciences Centre after a brief illness. Joan was born icon on December 30, 1924 in Winnipeg, to Chief Justice John E. and Mary (Turriff) Adamson. She lived her life in Winnipeg attending Rupertsland School for Girls, followed by working at Toronto General Trust. In 1945 she married John MacLean Hunt and had two daughters. She was a member of First Presbyterian Womens Auxiliary, St. Agnes Guild, The Board of Middlechurch Home, The Crafts Guild of Manitoba and the Bonsai Club of Winnipeg. She enjoyed many enduring friendships from her association with the Decadames, Bridge and Tuesday Stitchery groups. Joan had many and varied interests among which were hunting, weaving and needlework, and travelling. Most summers were spent at the family cottage at Winnipeg Beach surrounded by lifelong friends and their children. She greatly enjoyed travelling with her husband, and after his death, with her friends to Chicago, Fiji, Turkey, The British Isles, Greece, Baja and Mexico. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John; sisters, Eva Mary Pugh, Julia Dickson, and Clementina Bidwell. She is survived by her daughters and their families; Alexandra Harbottle, son-in-law John and grandson Christopher; Catherine Johnson, son-in-law Douglas and grandson Jeffrey and granddaughter Dawn; and numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss her greatly. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 30 at Thomson "in the Park" 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family wishes to thank the caring people of the Sherbrook and HSC Central Dialysis and Renal Units as well as those from Home Care Services. IVAN JACOBS

IVAN JOHN JACOBS After a brief illness, Ivan Jacobs, our beloved husband and father, aged 85 passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Grace Hospice. Ivan will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gladys; his children, Ken (Julie), Don (Gerry) and Bev (Tom) Paulley; grandchildren, Krista (Ricky) Zimmermann, Joanne (Sean) Darams, Steve (Kim), Brent (Linda), Paul (Teresa), Jody (Clint) Hooper and Melissa Milbrandt; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Shandi, Alyssa, Kurt, Joshua, Alexander, Anna, Megan, Kayla and Matthew; sister Dorothy Misurko; and brothers, Roy, Ellwood and Bruce (Bev). Ivan was born icon on September 18, 1918 and grew up on the family farm in Darlingford, MB. He joined the Air Force in April 1941 and served until 1945 as an Aero Engine Mechanic. He and Gladys met during this period and were married on Christmas Eve 61 years ago. After serving in the Air Force, Ivan worked as a machinist at various companies, retiring from the Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment in 1983. Ivan enjoyed and was very fond of his many friends and the staff at Lindenwood Manor, where he and Gladys spent their last years together. The family wishes to thank the palliative care staff at the Grace Hospital and the Grace Hospice for their caring and compassion during Ivan's brief illness. Memorial service for Ivan will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage. Interment and reception will follow. GEORGE KIPPEN Peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at the Carman Memorial Hospital, George Alexander Kippen, aged 90 years old, our husband, Dad, Grandfather, Great-grandfather died after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Dad was predeceased by two sons, Kenny and Barry; his parents, Duncan and Jessie Kippen; three sisters, Vera Kippen, Mrs. Jessie Carroll, Mrs. Jean Neiles; two brothers, Gordon and Duncan Kippen and Harry Amison. Dad is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eileen; one daughter, Wendy; three sons, Glen (Delilah), Michael (Sandra) and Darryl Kippen. He is also survived by two daughter-in-laws, Betty and Bev Kippen; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; Victor and Vivian Amison; sister-in-law, Mrs. Donna Kippen; one sister Mrs. Elizabeth Heaman; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Dad was born icon in the Boyne District on September 24, 1913. After marrying in 1942, he farmed in the Carman area until 1975. After retirement he was involved in community activities. He enjoyed camping, curling, lawn bowling, travelling, and fishing. Dad was a regular at the Carman Community Active Living Center. He will be missed by his family and friends. Funeral service will be held from the Carman United Church on Monday, August 30, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. ANTHONY KOLT

ANTHONY THOMAS KOLT On Friday, August 20th, 2004 with his family at his side, at the Concordia Hospital, Tony went to his final reward. Tony was born icon June 13, 1920 in Winnipeg. He is survived by his daughter Sandra (Bill) and grandchildren Farah and Bill Jr. (Debbie). He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Antonina, wife Katherine, sister Adele and son Gerald. Tony was employed by the CPR, working his way up to a locomotive engineer, when he found his calling as an automotive salesman at Winnipeg Motor Products. He eventually became Used Car Sales Manager. He also worked for Gateway Chev, Carter Motors and McNaught Motors from where he retired. He attained many awards, recognizing his sales prowess over the years. Memorial Service in commemoration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 29th, 2004, at 3:30 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Private interment will take place at a later date. TED KRUSELNICKI

TED KRUSELNICKI August 24, 1928 - August 24, 2004 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Ted, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at the age of 76 years. Ted will be forever missed by his loving wife Mildred, of 53 years of marriage; son Peter (Karen); daughters, Pat (Digby), Kathy (Bruce), Susan (Rich) and Jane (Doug); grandchildren, Brett (Jolene), Tara, Thomas, Amy, James, Julie, Michael and James; as well as one sister Stella. Dad led a full life enjoying family gatherings. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren. In his retirement years, dad and mom enjoyed each other's time together, especially their little jaunts to the States. A celebration of Ted's life will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Cantius Church, 846 Burrows Ave. Our family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks and St. Boniface Hospitals for all their kindness and care during dad's stay. FRERE LUCIEN LANGLOIS c.s.v. (1905 - 2004) Le frere Lucien Langlois, clerc de Saint-Viateur, est decede a Joliette, QC, le 13 aout, a l'age de 99 ans, dans sa 71 annee de profession religieuse. Ne a Saint-Medard de Warwick, Quebec, le 25 juin 1905, le frere Langlois a prononce des premiers voeux le 6 janvier 1934. Des 1938, il est nomme a Otterburne, MB, ou il travaillera plus de quarante ans a la Maison Saint-Joseph. En 1979, il retourne au Quebec ou il travaillera a Rigaud pendant un autre 20 ans. En 1999, arrive a l'age de 94 ans, il se retire a l'infirmerie communautaire de Joliette. Le frere Langlois a ete expose le dimanche 15 aout a la Maison provinciale des Clercs de Saint-Viateur a Outremont, Quebec, et les funerailles ont ete celebrees au meme endroit, le lundi 16 aout, suives de l'inhumation au cimetiere de la Congregation, a Rigaud. Brother Langlois, Cleric of Saint Viator, passed away in Joliette, QC, on August 13, 2004. Born in Saint-Medard de Warwick, QC on June 25, 1905, Brother Langlois pronounced his first vows on January 6, 1934. In 1938, he was appointed at St.-Joseph College in Otterburne, MB, where he worked for over 40 years before moving back to Quebec in 1979. There he worked for 20 years in Rigaud before moving to the Community infirmary in 1999 at the age of 94. Prayers were held on Sunday evening, August 15 and the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 16 at the Provincial House in Montreal, followed by interment in the Community cemetery in Rigaud.

JAMES LINDSAY

JAMES SPEIRS LINDSAY Jimmy passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, August 24, 2004. Jimmy is survived by his wife Jean of 55 years; three daughters and six granddaughters, Gail Schroeder (Wayne), Heather Millar (Ken), Cheryl Trottier; Alanna, Ashley, Erica, Chantal, Christiane and Melanie all of Calgary; sister Jenny; brother-in-law Bill Pert; John Topp (Cathy) Bob Topp (Alice) and Doug. He was predeceased by son-in-law Eugene Trottier in 1999. Jimmy was born icon in Winnipeg October 26, 1925. He was a Second World War Veteran, serving in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in the theatre of war in Europe. Jimmy's wish was to be cremated. A graveside service will be held in the Veterans Section in Brookside Cemetery on Tuesday, August 31 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Children's Wish Foundation, 303 - 1 Wesley Ave., Winnipeg R3C 4C6. LILLIAN MacKENZIE

LILLIAN GERTRUDE MacKENZIE Peacefully, with family by her side, Lillian Gertrude MacKenzie passed away at the Grace Hospital on Monday, August 23, 2004. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Audrey Read of Winnipeg; and her brother Douglas MacKenzie and sister-in-law Pat of Los Angeles, CA; nephews Gary Read (Helen), Gord MacKenzie (Debbie), Ken MacKenzie, Byron MacKenzie (Barb); nieces, Leilani Chubb (Ron), Diane Kelk (Alan), Patti Reed (Steve) and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Lillian was the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Whitford MacKenzie. She was born icon and educated in Winnipeg, graduating with a B.A. from the University of Manitoba, R.N. Diploma from Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, certificate of Public Health from McGill, and an M.A. from Columbia University New York. Lillian spent 35 years as Director of Nursing for the Winnipeg Health Department. Lillian was a very private lady who took great pride in her family. Her humour and graciousness will be missed. The family wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital for the excellent care they provided. Also, a thank you to the staff at the Wellington for all their services and kindness. As per Lillian's wishes, there will be no formal service but a reception will be held at the Wellington, 3161 Grant Ave. on Monday, August 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A private family interment in planned for a later date. BERTHA MADDEN

BERTHA MADDEN (nee BOURASSA) Bertha Madden died suddenly on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 from heart complications at her home in St. Francois Xavier. Bertha was born icon July 11, 1938, the eldest of five children born icon to Romeo and Simone Bourassa of Sherbrooke, PQ. Bertha qualified as a Registered Nurse from Sherbrooke Hospital in 1957; as a Flight Nurse with the RCAF in 1959 and as an Operating Room nurse in 1964 from Vancouver General Hospital. She served as a Nursing Sister with the RCAF for seven years and while with them, was involved in Medivac - Emergency Medical Work out of Edmonton. Just prior to leaving the RCAF, she served as an OR nurse at the military Hospital in Ottawa, where she met and married her husband Dave Madden. Bertha moved to Winnipeg with her family in 1967 and continued to work within the medical system of Manitoba. She worked short periods at Oakview Manor and at Deer Lodge Hospital and her primary work was in the Emergency Wards of Grace Hospital and, especially, the Health Science Center from where she retired in 1994. After retiring she delighted in her RN position in the medical unit of Headingly Correctional Institute. Bertha enjoyed her work as a nurse and at the time of her death she was employed in term position at Grace Hospital and Deer Lodge Hospital. Bertha is survived by her husband Dave Madden; her two sons and their families, Dave, wife Deneen, Jaren and Ryler of Ile des Chenes, MB and Jean Pierre, wife Aileen, Caitlin and Julia Madden of Manchester, England and her four siblings, Richard, Claudette, William and Maxim and their families of Sherbrooke, PQ. Funeral liturgy for Bertha, presided by Msgr. Maurice Commeault, will be at Blessed John XXIII Parish (Assiniboia Christian Center - 3390 Portage Ave.) on Monday, August 30 at 2:30 p.m. Her remains will be cremated and her ashes will be buried in the Catholic Cemeteries on West Portage (Assumption). AURORE McARTHUR (nee ASSELIN) 1925 - 2004 Peacefully in her sleep on August 1, 2004 at Sherman Oaks Hospital, Los Angeles, CA. She was predeceased by her parents, Hermas and Marie Louise Asselin. She is survived by her beloved sister Jeanne Kornberger of Winnipeg and her brother Armand Asselin (Maryann) of Canoga Park, CA. Loving aunt to Doreen Lewis (John) of Dublin, CA and Valerie Feuillatre (Herve) of Lorette, MB. In accordance with her wishes her ashes were scattered at sea in Laguna Beach, CA. Her memory will be cherished forever in our hearts.
