WALTER COPP

WALTER COPP "True happiness does not come from possessions or fame: it comes from the quality of your relationships with the people you love and respect." It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of our dearly beloved husband, father and grandfather on September 16, 2004, at home. Walter was born icon in North Kildonan on May 23, 1922, at home to Sophie and Michael Cap. He is survived by his wife Lillian; daughters, Sandra (Gary), all of Winnipeg, Jeannette (Steven) of Toronto; son John (Mary Lou) of Perth, Australia and grandchildren, Julia, Jonathan and Jessica. Walter's legacy is the impact he had on others in his life and the ripple effect of that impact. He was in contact with literally hundreds of people. Unclaimed acts of kindness, generosity, or just good humour changed the world a little bit and many will consider their lives improved because of his presence. He taught those closest to him by example, to live with optimism, enjoy - always enjoy, be a decent person, teach your children, seize the day, be moderate in your desires and leave some for others, marry someone you respect and then esteem your spouse. Take whatever hand you're dealt and play it to the fullest. These lessons were learned and passed on. That is his legacy. Viewing will be held between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 20 with prayers being said at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Walter's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Grant, Stanley and Walter Copp, as well as three special ladies, Jennifer Wiebe, Erin Boiteau and Laura Betker. Walter's love for his children and grandchildren, plus his satisfaction in seeing things grow and flourish, can continue to live on whereby in lieu of flowers, please help a child or plant a tree in memory of him. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
