DONALD MATHESON

DONALD FRASER MATHESON Peacefully, on the 16th of October, 2004 in Selkirk, our dear father went to join his beloved wife Lorrain in heaven. Forever remembered and loved by his family, Donna and Doug, Angus and Janice, Heather and Robert; grandchildren, Fraser and Patricia, Andrea, Kory, Robert and Lorrain-Marie. Donald was born icon in 1918 in Brooklyns to parents who had emigrated from Scotland to the majestic prairies. At an early age Don acquired an appreciation and enjoyment for the outdoors. It was this love of his country that compelled Don to volunteer for active service in the Canadian Air Force overseas, in 1940. He served to the end of the war after which he joined the Winnipeg Police Force following in the footsteps of his father. It was while directing traffic that a young attractive Eatons girl was directed into his life for the next 49 years. Don retired after 30 years with the Police Force and 11 years with the Provincial Sherriff's Department. Mom and Dad moved to Lac Du Bonnet where we all experienced fond memories and good times. A short time later they moved back to Transcona and of late to Selkirk, MB, where he made many new friends. All who knew Don found him to be an honest, caring and good natured soul. "ACHA `N DA THEARNAID" We would like to thank Selkirk General Hospital, home care and the residents and staff at Woodlands Court for their care and friendship. Please note a change of time.
