JUNE MARYANNE RENTZ Beloved wife of Leonard passed away October 20, 2004 at St.Boniface Hospital at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with cancer. June will be lovingly remembered by her husband Leonard; sons, Jeffrey (Jennine) Rentz, Lorne (Paula) Rentz; and daughter Allison (Bruce) Barley; grandsons, Aaron, Ryan, Kyle and Kurt; and granddaughter Robin. She will also be dearly missed by her sister Viola (Bill) Maza and her brother Paul (Myrna) Eichhorn and her many nieces and nephews. LYDIA SCHINDEL

LYDIA SCHINDEL March 14, 1910 - October 19, 2004 It is with profound sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Lydia Schindel on October 19, 2004 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Friedrich in 1976, grandson Clifford in 1989 and son Artur in 1998. She was also predeceased by her younger brothers, Kurt and Heinz of Germany. Our "Mama" will be lovingly remembered by her children, Walter (Nettie), Linda Dallman, Elli (Sepp) Kronhofer, Adina (Werner) Pohl, Ernst, Helga (Ron) Kehler, Gretel (Ed) Lambert and daughter-in-law Ella Schindel. She also leaves to mourn her brother Willi (Gerda) Wolter and her sisters, Helga and Ruth and their families all in Germany. Also left to cherish "Oma's" memories are her 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Lydia was born icon on March 14, 1910 in Berestowitz, Wolinien (in the Ukraine). In 1929 she married Friedrich Schindel (a widower with his young son Artur). Eleven children were born icon thereafter unfortunately three died at an early age, Ruth, Hans and Kurt. After the Second World War the entire family fled to Germany. In 1952 the family immigrated to Winnipeg. She was such a hard worker, working at Health Sciences Centre and the later years at Eaton's. She was a dedicated and loving wife. She was a caring and understanding mother. She loved all her grandchildren unconditionally and treasured her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her "streuselkuchen", "suelze" and "sauerkraut". You were always welcomed in her home and always, always well fed. She was a deeply religious woman, so strong in her Baptist faith. We are comforted in knowing that she is now in the arms of Jesus, home at last. Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh, liebe Mama! Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ben Schindel, Henry Schindel and Todd Kehler; grandsons-in-law, Dave Benzie and Brad Kirsh and great-grandson Matthew Benzie. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 24 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Eisbrenner officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. HELEN SEMINS It is with sadden hearts the family of Helen Semins announce her death on October 19, 2004. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Elizabeth and Jo and son Frank, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons Sidney and Michael. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway with interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Those that wish to do so may make a donation in memory of Helen to the Salvation Army. She lived her life in the service and love of her family and according to her faith. JAMES SHAUGHNESSY

JAMES HAROLD (SHAG) SHAUGHNESSY Shag was born icon on February 10, 1924, passed away on October 21, 2004, at the age of 80 years, was predeceased by his brothers, Vincent S.J., Gordon, Gerald; and sister Eleanor. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Helen (George-McNaughton); and his children, Donna (Paul) Duggan, Gary, Diane (Fred) MacDonald. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jennie, Megan and Sean MacDonald, Michael and Sarah Shaughnessy and Patrick, Laurie and Jennifer Duggan; and many nieces and nephews. Shag lived a full and happy life from his boyhood days in Ottawa, to his high school days at St. Pat's College were he served as president, his football days with the Ottawa Rough Riders, and his accomplished business career including being the past president of the West Winnipeg Rotary club. Shag will mostly be remembered for his incredible and optimistic outlook on life. He has left his friends and family with many happy memories. In keeping with his giving nature, his wish was to donate his body to the University of Ottawa. Thank you to all the staff of St-Jacques Nursing Home for their special love and care. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the LAFLEUR & ROBERT FUNERAL HOME, 874 Notre-Dame, Embrun. KATHERINE MARIE SPROLL It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear, sweet Katherine in a motor vehicle accident near Prince Albert, SK on Monday, October 18, 2004. Katherine was born icon on February 19, 1970. She will always be loved and remembered by her parents, Karl and Irene Sproll; by her brothers, Karl (Dianne) and Norman (Cathie); her sisters, Ursula (Maurice) and Barbara and her nieces and nephews, Karl, Erik, Ingrid, Erin (Dan), Adrienne (Tim), Justin, Nathan and Samuel and many friends in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Katherine was a remarkable young woman who had the ability to listen to, understand and support people who were searching their way through difficult times. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. We take consolation in knowing that although Katherine's life time was too short, she had found a welcoming home in Prince Albert and her life was enriched with a career she loved, warm friendships and personal happiness. Katherine, we'll love you forever, forever our baby you'll be. GRANT EARL SUMMERS On Thursday, October 21, 2004, Grant Summers, aged 84 years, passed away at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Surviving to mourn his loss, his loving wife Vida; three children, Barry (Collaus), Debbie (Doug), Marlon (Kim); grandchildren, Ryan (Michelle), Michelle (Darren), Trent (Sam), Fawn, Terri, Kelly; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Samantha, Laurissa; sister Lorraine; brother-in-law George; mother-in-law Beatrice Lawrence. There are many nieces and nephews. Grant was born icon April 16, 1920 at Isly, AB. He farmed in the Starbuck and Marquette area all of his life. He moved to Winnipeg in 1999 until his passing. MARY THIESSEN

MARY THIESSEN It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Thiessen announces her passing on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at the age of 80 years. Mary Thiessen was born icon on March 4, 1924 in the village of Neuendorf in southern Ukraine. Her parents were Kornelius and Maria Thiessen (nee Winter). In 1943, Mary fled to the West, settling in Germany, and in 1947, she immigrated to Canada with her mother and two sisters. After arriving in Canada, Mary landed a job with Paulin Chambers, where she worked as a supervisor, retiring in 1989 after 38 years of service. In 1995, she suffered a stroke which left her partially paralysed. She was able to continue to lead an active life, living at Bethania Haus for almost ten years, thanks to the assistance of her family, the dedication of Adina Wall, and the help of Home Care Services. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Katie in 1987, as well as two siblings in infancy. She is survived by her sister Susanne and brother-in-law Gerhard Thiessen; three nieces and a nephew, Lori Hermary (Paul), Ingrid Thiessen (Lawrence Baschak), Katie Watters (Tim) and Vern; as well as seven grandnephews and grandnieces, beloved cousins, and many friends. We wish to thank Dr. Doermer and the staff who cared for her at Concordia Hospital (N3), especially Donna and Ron. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 25 at 1:30 p.m. in First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame at Alverstone, with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. BEVERLEY ANN TOUPIN (nee COBURN) Beverley Toupin passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 19, 2004. She is survived by her husband Lawrence; children, Dwight, Kurt, Lisa; mother Sylvia Coburn (Carmen); brother Douglas (Christine) of Winnipeg; aunts, uncles and in-laws. Beverley was born icon in Carmen, MB in 1951. She attended school at Kilmory and then Carmen. Beverley worked at Tache Nursing Centre as a Registered LPN. She will be sorely missed by all her great friends and many co-workers. Bev was very caring and enjoyed company, especially of friends and relatives. There are four people that will miss her because of any help she could give them: her mother, mother-in-law, and aunts Kathleen and Margaret. Beverley loved to travel and now she has gone on a long journey. Special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service, staff at Health Sciences Centre Emergency, SICU and the transplant coordinator of the Manitoba Transplant Program. MARGARET ELIZABETH VOSPER (nee PATTERSON) Margaret Vosper age 96 years, passed away October 20, 2004 at Crocus Court Personal Care Home, Roblin, MB. Margaret Elizabeth Patterson was the eldest daughter of the late Peter and Mary (nee McFadyen) Patterson of Shellmouth, MB. Margaret worked for T. Eaton Co. in school supplies for many years and married Jack Vosper in 1933. During the war years she worked for the O.P.D. Dept. at St. Boniface Hospital. Margaret was a lifetime member of Olive Branch Rebekah Lodge No. 1 in Winnipeg, Rob Roy Sons of Scotland Lodge in Winnipeg, Evangeline Rebekah Lodge No. 41 in Roblin, and El Hagar Zuanna Lodge. Margaret was a member of Shellmouth United Church, Regents Park United Church in Winnipeg and Knox United Church in Roblin. Surviving are son Glen (Martha) Vosper of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Dale (Sharon) Vosper, Sherry (Wayne) Metz all of Grand Prairie, AB, Valerie Vosper of Winnipeg; two great-grandchildren, Paul and Amanda Metz; sisters, Ellen McArthur of Roblin, Hazel McLean of Winnipeg, Eileen Levacque of Cockrane, AB. EDITH WAGNER (nee LEONHARDT) Peacefully, on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Grace Hospital, God called Edith home, and took away all pain. Our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was born icon April 1, 1915 in the Russell area, moving to Winnipeg as a young girl. Predeceased by her husband John in 1995, Edith will be missed by her daughter Carol; son John (Judy); and granddaughters, Heather Kozubski (Bob), Cheryl Franklin (Dave), and Lindsay. Also missing her will be her brother Emil Leonhardt (Lynn); sisters-in-law, Laura Leonhardt, Elsie Steiler and Dorothy Huff all of Winnipeg; and many nieces, nephews and extended family residing all over Canada, the United States and Japan. Edith was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Alexander; sister Pauline; and brothers, Ted, Alex, Jack and John. As a young woman entering the work force, she began as a domestic. She then joined Eaton's as a sales person in Hardware, China, and Womens' Clothing, working into her early 70s. A woman of strong faith, Edith was an active member of Albright Church, participating in the womens' ministry and missions. The family wishes to thank the staff of Oakview Place Personal Care Home for their care and kindness. We will celebrate Edith's life on Saturday, October 23 at Albright Church, 3400 DeVries Ave., at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior.
