MARY BROWN

MARY LAWSON BROWN (nee BULLOCH) Suddenly, on October 30, 2004, Mary passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. She was born, raised, and lived her entire life in Winnipeg except for summers which she spent at Brereton Lake. She was predeceased by her son Jack; her husband Bill; and brothers, Jim and Gary. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Janet Bake (Doug), Bill Brown (Debby); grandchildren, Erin, Kyle, Megan, and Kevin; her sister Chris; sisters-in-law, Fran and Florence; and many nieces and nephews. Mary loved people and devoted her life to her family, friends, neighbours, and her church unit at Harrow United Church. For many years she enjoyed working at the Winnipeg Winter Club, and once retired, she always looked forward to her bridge games with her many friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at the Elmwood Cemetery. LOUIS ADELARD JOSEPH COUTURE (PAPA) 1946 - 2004 It is with great sadness and regret, the family of Louis Couture announces his sudden passing on Sunday, October 31, 2004. Louis was predeceased by his parents, Orien and Marie Couture. Louis will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 16 years Diane; his stepchildren, Stephanie Zahari (Paddy), Timothy O'Rourke (Patty) and Sean O'Rourke; his grandchildren, Brett, Dylan, Madison, Nicholas, Ashanti and Sebastien; his siblings, Paul (Marilyn Badke), Daniel, Jeannette (Larry) Kaludjer, Yvette and Raymond; and his nieces and nephews. Louis, we love you very much. Your soft, generous heart will always be remembered. The grandkids will miss their "Papa" and their special tickle time. You left too soon. We will carry you in our hearts forever. IRIS CROCKER

IRIS VIOLET CROCKER 1959 - 2004 (nee RESKE) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Iris Violet Crocker on November 1, 2004 at the age of 44. Iris was born icon December 14, 1959 in Beausejour, MB. Iris will be deeply missed by her husband Richard; daughter Ashley; father Emil Reske and partner Pauline; sister Lorraine Walc (Tony); brothers, Richard Reske (Crystal) and Donny Reske; her mother-in-law Rose Elizabeth Crocker; brother-in-law Brent; sisters-in-law, Lana, Colista and Melinda and their families. She was predeceased by her mother Violet Reske 1984 and brother Ron 1967. Iris will always be remembered as a very strong, loving and caring person. She enjoyed spending time with her family, relatives and friends. Iris was employed with The Workers Compensation Board for 25 years until her illness in February, 2003. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and served as a secretary for a short while at her daughters Day Care Centre. Iris received support from so many loving and caring people. The visits, phone calls, the fund raising event held in her name for the Cancer Society, cards, flowers, scrapbooks and albums were very much appreciated. Iris wanted all of you to know that she was overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. The family would like to say a special thank you to her dear friend Julie Robertson and her loving cousin Janice Hnatiuk for spending countless hours with Iris and for always being there for her. Also thanks to Dr. Dabrowska and Lori; Dr. Daeninck and Tracy at the St. Boniface Hospital and all the nurses of the WRHA Nursing Unit, especially Maryanne. A Memorial Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with a Memorial Service on Thursday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m. also at the Chapel with Rev. DAVID DUNNING

DAVID LLOYD GEORGE DUNNING February 10, 1918 - October 29, 2004 On Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Arborg Personal Care Home, David Dunning, aged 86 years of Arborg, MB, formerly of McCreary, MB. David is survived by his loving wife Vera; daughter Roberta (Marvin) Magnusson; grandsons, Aaron (Crystal) and their children, Bailey and Alexis; and Shawn all of Riverton; sister-in-law Jeanette Dunning of Red Deer, AB; special niece Joanne (Henry) Kuyp and their children, Jason and Jennifer of Tyndal, MB as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two infant daughters; his parents, Joseph and Annie (Cole); his brothers, Colin, Alex, Albert and his sisters, Alice, Ada, Janet and Hazel. David was born icon in the Landsdown Municipality, then moved with his family to McCreary in 1921. On November 2, 1940 he married Vera Shaw of Norgate and shared a life together for almost 64 years. Dad enlisted with the WLI in 1942 and was medically discharged in 1943. They farmed in the Turtle Plains district for the first years of their marriage then in 1958 he was hired to supervise the construction of the Wilson Creek Weir a two month job that turned into a 23 years position. Dad was councillor in the R.M. of McCreary from 1955-1958, drainage trustee from 1956-1967 and Reeve from 1962-1986. He loved sports, especially curling and watching hockey. In 1990 they sold the farm and moved to Brandon; in 1998 they moved to Arborg. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Arborg Personal Care Home for their loving care and respect for Dad during his stay there. Prayers will be held Tuesday (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 3 at 12:00 noon in the McCreary Gospel Church, McCreary, MB with Pastors, Roger Woywoda and Roy Fordyce officiating. Interment will follow in the Kelwood Cemetery. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB in care of arrangements.

JODY HUNTER

JODY ALLISON HUNTER (nee SEMMER) In the warmth and comfort of her home and surrounded by the love of her family, Jody passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with inflammatory breast cancer on Sunday, October 31, 2004. Besides her loving husband Elliott and dear children, Lucas and Jonas Buller, Jody leaves to cherish her memory, parents, Vivian and Edward Semmer; sisters, Tracy Semmer (Brett) and Corey Martin (David); niece Carly; and nephew Jarrett. Jody was born icon on September 2, 1952 in Winnipeg and lived in the city all her life. She attended Springfield Heights Elementary and River East Collegiate. While attending University of Manitoba she put herself through school working at Eaton's. With dedication and conviction she earned her Teacher's Certificate and fulfilled a lifelong dream of being a primary grades school teacher. Jody loved and enjoyed working with young children. Her first teaching position was in Pine Falls and she then secured a posting with the Seven Oaks School Division where she taught for the last 29 years. Jody was the kindergarten teacher at Elwick School when her illness prevented her from working in October, 2002. Jody was a beautiful woman who always took pride in her appearance and always strove to stay in good spiritual and physical condition with a variety of activities. She enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo, especially for her students. She enjoyed all types of dancing and took lessons in tap, ballroom, and swing. She loved cross county and downhill skiing, golf, scuba lessons and enjoyed the outdoors. She especially enjoyed helping others and took part in many church activities through out the years. Jody was an active member of the Wellness Institute where she and Elliott first met and fell in love in September 2001, and were married on November 2, 2002. Jody was a very caring, loving, and compassionate person who brought joy, love, and happiness with all whom she had contact. The day was always a little brighter and better if you had the good fortune of Jody being a part of it. She was devoted to and adored her family, and was so proud of the fine young men that Lucas and Jonas have grown to be. She loved family gatherings and seeing others happy. Jody loved and always looked forward to the phone calls and hospital and home visits from her many friends and coworkers over the past two years. Family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the St. Boniface Hospital, especially Dr. Krahn and Heather, Dr. Butler and to Lynn and Marianne from the palliative care home care Program, who provided such great care for Jody and were such a help to Elliott. A special thanks to cousin Linda for helping to comfort Jody and serve as her spiritual advisor during the last few months of her journey. Funeral service will be held at the Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Wednesday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Loren Pullman officiating. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. CVETA KRILIC (LAKATOS) November 26, 1931- October 30, 2004 Cveta Krilic passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks General Hospital on October 30, 2004 at the age of 72. Cveta is survived by her daughter Kathy (Cliff) Dryden; son Frank (Gail) Lakatos; grandchildren; Brandi, Steven, Corey, Charles, Joshua, Chelsea and Kyle. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home with interment to follow. The family would like to thank Ivan Rasic for helping Cveta and being a good friend to her and Trinity at Seven Oaks for helping us get through the last few difficult days. CLARKE LEWIS

CLARKE LEWIS July 8, 1919 - October 30, 2004 Clarke Lewis passed away on October 30, 2004 at the Morris General Hospital at the age of 85 years. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty Lou March and Lorna Lewis; five nephews, Kim and wife Jo-Ann Lewis and their son Michael, Brock and wife Lori Lewis and their children, Owen and Kaela, Pat and wife Waltra Lewis and their sons, Sam and Tom, Tim Lewis, Barry Lewis; and one niece Lori and husband Bruce Lamont. Clarke was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Vera Lewis; stepmother Bertha Lewis; two sisters, June and Kathleen; and three brothers, Jim, Jerry, and Owen. Clarke was born icon on July 8, 1919 and was raised and educated in Morris. When duty called during the Second World War he joined the Air Force and served as a wireless operator on Lancaster bombers during many raids over Germany. After the war Clarke returned home and attended the University of Manitoba where he received a Diploma in Agriculture. He did some farming, but made his living as an electrician in Winnipeg with the T. Eaton Co., where he worked until retirement. After his retirement he moved back to Morris. He was a life member and Past President of the Morris Branch No. 111 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and a life member of the Morris Museum. He was also a long time member and supporter of the Valley Agricultural Society. Clarke had been an avid golfer, curler, and down hill and cross country skier, sang in the United Church Choir, and was interested in gardening, travel, and all sporting events. The family would like to thank Dr. Manness and the nursing staff at the Morris General Hospital for their help and kindness during Clarke's stay. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Clarke's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Morris United Church Memorial Fund. Cremation has taken place. The funeral services will be held at the Morris United Church on Wednesday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Morris Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church. WALTER LINDEBLOM

WALTER LINDEBLOM Peacefully on November 1, 2004, Walter Lindeblom passed away on his 82nd birthday at the Deer Lodge Centre. He was predeceased by his wife Ella in 2000, daughter Diane in 1975 and brother Ken. Walter is survived by three children, Murray (Debra), Judy (Gerry), John (Selma); grandchildren, Jeremy, Nikolee, Samantha, John, Keira, Erika and Derek; great-grandson Drake; brother Stanley (Janet); close friends, Ruth and Yvonne; Deer Lodge pals, Lloyd and Roy. Walter was born icon November 1, 1922 in Scotsguard, SK and spent his youth in both Brock and Marshall, SK. Enlisting in 1942, Walter served overseas in England with the Bomber Command. Following the war, Walter helped his father set up a Massey - Harris dealership in Lashburn, SK. In 1949 he re-enlisted in the forces and served as an aero - engine mechanic. Following retirement from the military at age 47 he worked as an inspector of small engine parts for Standard Aero until cancer forced him to leave the work force in 1984. Walter married in Lloydminster in 1946, and he and his wife had a wonderful 54 years together. Walter had happy memories of their family times and credited his wife with placing the family first. They visited all of the United States except Hawaii and Alaska. He was a member of both the Canadian Legion and the Masonic Order. Walter attended chapel regularly at Deer Lodge and believed strongly in the power of prayer. He appreciated the kindness of his children and grandchildren. Thank you to the staff at Deer Lodge, T5, Cafeteria and Recreation for their excellent care. CHRISTINA MARTIN

CHRISTINA McDONALD MARTIN (nee SUTHERLAND) Peacefully on October 30, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centre, Chrissie passed away at the age of 90 years. Left to cherish her memory are her nephews and nieces, William Sutherland (Arlene), Alice Palmer (Gordon), Janet Bodner (Bruce), Stewart Martin (Donna), Carol Heiling-Maradyn (Nick) and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Chrissie was predeceased by Cam, her husband of 36 years in 1982; brothers, Benjamin and William; infant sister Elizabeth; sisters-in law, Helen and Lillian Sutherland and brother-in-law Stewart Martin. She was born icon in Regina, SK on June 22, 1914 moving to Winnipeg with her family in 1920. She went to school in Winnipeg, graduating from St. John's High school before entering the Normal School for teacher training. Chrissie taught in several schools in the Winnipeg division, mostly at Greenway school before leaving the teaching profession to marry her friend and colleague Cam. In her younger days Chrissie was highly competitive as both a curler and a bowler winning numerous awards in top level competition. She completed her final year of league bowling with the River Heights Ladies in May of 2003. Chrissie had lived on Borebank Street for over 40 years before moving to Rosewood Village at The Waverley and lastly to the Riverview Health Centre. The family thanks the staff of these homes for the kind and compassionate care they gave to our Aunt. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception and interment will follow.
