MARIA DACONCEICAO ROSA Peacefully on November 5, 2004, Maria, our beloved mother, grandmother passed away at the Maples Personal Care Home at the age of 82 years. Maria is survived her children, Gilda (Jose), Antonio (Gorette), Joao (Conceicao), Jose (Juvenalia), all of Winnipeg, Lidia (Alfred) of Mississauga, ON, Oliver (Laura) and Maria Alice (David) of Portugal; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Olivia (Leonard) of Toronto, Alice (Joao) of Brazil, Cecilia (Joao) and brother Antonio (Maria) of Portugal. She was predeceased by her husband beloved Antonio and brothers, Joao and Miguel. Maria was born icon on January 15, 1922 in the Acores and came to Canada in 1971. She was a proud homemaker and devout catholic. The family would like to thank the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home for all their care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, November 9 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros as celebrant. Interment will take place in Toronto. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Maria's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. TREVOR SILVERA

TREVOR LAUNCELOTT SILVERA On Friday, November 5, 2004 Trevor passed away at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 74 years. Remaining to cherish his memory is his friend Karen Richards; son Dean (Stacey) (Toronto); mother Daphne Watson; sisters Janet Kautnik (California) and Faye Pape (California) and his beloved springer spaniel Maggie as well as numerous relatives and friends. Trevor worked as a tireless and devoted accountant at Gardwine and Sons and Atomic Transfer for over 30 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a generous man with a quick wit and a dry sense of humour. It was his genuine consideration for others that endeared him to them. Once you met Trevor you would never forget him. He was an avid golfer and spent as much time as possible at Breezy Bend Country Club playing, practicing and helping his many friends with their game. Trevor was a historian of the game, in particular an afficienado of Ben Hogan. The inherent integrity of the game carried over into all aspects of Trevor's life. In keeping with Trevor's wishes, no formal service will take place however there will be an informal gathering of friends on Wednesday, November 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Breezy Bend Country Club, 7620 Roblin Blvd. W., Headingley, MB. HARRY STEIN

HARRY GEORGE STEIN SR. On November 5, 2004, Harry Stein passed away at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 81 years. Left to forever cherish his memory is his beloved wife Andree; his sons, Ken (Leslie), Brian (Judy), Gordon (Denise) and Harry Jr.; his daughter Deborah Hopkins; stepsons, Pierre (Karen) Bartlette, Charles (Marianne) Hardy; and stepdaughters Simone and Jacqueline Bartlette as well as 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Harry was predeceased by his parents Charles (1961) and Matilda (1978); his third son Eric (1986) and granddaughter Kelly Lynn Hopkins (1988). Harry is survived by his siblings, Pearl, Arthur, Gordon, Shirley and Della Mae. Harry was born icon August 24, 1923 in Melville, SK, later moving to Manitoba and growing up in Winnipeg. He enlisted in Canada's military with Lord Strathcona Horse Artillery on April 18, 1941 and went overseas during the Second World War landing in Glasgow, Scotland on November 13, the same year. He met and married his first wife Marjorie in Glasgow on September 19, 1942. He left Glasgow in December, 1943 to defend our freedom in Italy and subsequently to Holland in February, 1945 where he was the first Canadian soldier to bring news of liberation to the town of Ermelo. After the Second World War, Harry returned to Canada in October, 1945 and joined the Canadian National Railway in Winnipeg where he was employed until August 15, 1950. He then returned to the military service joining the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery (RCHA) until his retirement from the military as a Master Warrant Officer in February, 1970. During his re-enlistment he was awarded a medal for his duty in the Korean Conflict. After retirement from the military, Harry accepted a position with the Manitoba Provincial Government in 1971 working in Winnipeg and Thompson, MB. Harry met Andree (nee Charette) on August 28, 1972 and they married on April 13, 1974. They lived in Thompson until Harry retired in 1984 at which time they moved to St. George, MB. They moved back to Winnipeg in 1996. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeanne Young, doctors, nurses, and staff at the Victoria General Hospital 5th floor for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations can be made in Harry's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or a charity of your choice. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow. IRENE STOREY

IRENE MARJORIE STOREY (nee GUNN) Peacefully, in her sleep, Irene Storey passed away at the Riverview Health Centre on Friday, November 5, 2004. Irene was predeceased by her husband Eldred in 1980; her brothers, Carl (infant), Cecil, Jared and Bert; her sisters, Myrtle, Florence, Ella and Beulah and by several nieces and nephews. Irene is survived by her son Gary (Beverley); daughter Dorynne (Tom) Park and grandchildren, Sandra and Todd Storey and Darcie, Shelley and Bradley Park and a number of nieces and nephews. Born on June 21, 1910 in the Foxwarren District, Irene spent her early years in the Bayfield District near Foxwarren. She married Eldred Storey of the Arden District in 1933. They farmed in the Arden area until 1958 when they moved to Winnipeg. Irene operated a catering business at the Maple Leaf Curling Club in Winnipeg for the next 13 years. Upon retirement they moved to the Ft. Richmond area of Ft. Garry. Irene lived there until February 2002 when she moved into personal care. Irene was a resident at Riverview Health Centre until her death. The family would like to thank Pat Yamada and the nursing staff on CD4 for their kindness and care of Irene while she resided there. If family and friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 9Z9 or a charity of one's choice. JOHN J. VOGT (1924 - 2004) Mr. John Vogt, aged 80, of Steinbach MB, dearly beloved husband of Anne passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years Anne (nee Schalla); his son Earl (Isabel); daughters, Shirley (Gerry) Klassen, Carol (John) Funk; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Erna Peters; and daughter-in-law Irma (Jim) Dyck. He was predeceased by his son Gerald in 1997, and his twin brother Ed in 1986. John operated Vogt Realty for 30 years. He also owned and operated Johnny's Grill, J & A, Vogt Snack Bar, and South Junction Motel and Restaurant. He was actively involved in the Church, Steinbach Lions Club, Steinbach City Council, the Hanover School Board and the Fernwood Manor Board. "Dad was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and special friend to many" A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Steinbach with Pastor Al Maier officiating. BHANUBEN BAGWANDAS DARJI November 7, 1929 - November 8, 2004 It is with great sadness that our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at home at the age of 75. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Bharat (Bharti), Bharti (Suresh), Asha (Satish), Rashmi (Mahesh), Uma (Harish). She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren, Dipesh, Shilpa, Franil, Niklesh, Kevin, Bhavesh, Ronak, Disha, Neha and Jayda, who will miss her attention and love. Bhanuben was born icon in Saleg, Gujarat, India. She was married in 1948 to Ishverlal Darji. They immigrated to Canada in 1981. They adopted a new country and they worked hard to raise their grandchildren. Bhanuben symbolized strength and courage to her family and friends in the way that she lived her life. She had a strong faith in God which helped her and those around her through the tough times. The way she lived her life is a great inspiration to all of us. A service followed by cremation will take place on Wednesday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park", 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Prayers will be held on Sunday between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. at the house. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the St. Boniface Dialysis Unit for their efforts and compassionate care. AGANETHA EPP Aganetha (Neta) Epp passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2004 at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home. She leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, six brothers and four sisters. Neta helped her sister Helen in the Eben-Ezer Girl's Home and worked days as a domestic in private homes. Then they moved to North Kildonan. In 1996 Neta entered Bethania where she lived for eight years. We would like to thank all the staff at the home for her care.
