MILITA NETZEL

MILITA NETZEL June 5, 1924 - November 6, 2004 At 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the age of 80 years at the Seven Oaks Hospital, God called our Dearly Beloved Mom and Grandma Home to Eternal Rest and Peace. Milita was born icon on June 5, 1924 in Fedorowka, USSR. She moved with her family to Canada in May of 1953 whereby she set up residence in Winnipeg, MB. She was most definitely a very "UNIQUE" individual. Leaving her homeland was very difficult for her but her love of it ALWAYS remained with her. Our Mom and Grandma faced many hardships and struggles in her life but always managed to remove the barriers with a strong will and determination. A very hard working and courageous woman. After arriving in Winnipeg she became a seamstress with Silpit Industries where she was employed for 37 years never missing a day except for funerals, working weekdays and weekends and overtime just to provide us with a roof over our heads, food on the table and clothes on our back. Money was never her God in Life and neither was the materialistic world. She lived a very quiet reserved life. There may not have been a title behind her name nor did she hold any positions but her love for her family, friends, strangers and animals was overpowering. Her love of cooking, baking, sewing and gardening skills were also top notch at one time and even towards the end of her time. She always put herself last on the list of priorities. Mom and Grandma was also a very religious person inside, who always obeyed God's "TEN COMMANDMENTS." She always prayed faithfully and continuously everyday for everyone and was always very troubled by the world events everywhere. A very compassionate, sensitive, caring and loving individual all around. There was many a day and many a time we could not understand her and were left frustrated, but this was her nature and personality and no one could ever change her lifestyle or way of thinking no matter how hard one tried. May God, Jesus, The Angels and all family and friends that have predeceased you in the past wrap their loving wings around you and welcome you to your new home to the Greatest Place Ever, "HEAVEN." Your eyes have made us see your words have made us listen. God gave us a "ANGEL" when he chose you to be our "MOTHER" and "GRANDMOTHER." You have left a legacy that will live with us forever. Our heartfelt thanks also go out to the various floors/units that our Mama and Oma was on while she was struggling so very hard with her various illnesses. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home with interment and reception to follow. In lieu of cards and/or flowers, the family is requesting that if anyone should so desire, contributions can be forwarded to any one of the following 3 organizations: D'Arcys ARC (Animal Rescue Centre), 1793 Portage Ave., Winnipeg MB, R3J 0E8, Oak Hammock Marsh, 220 Oak Hammock Marsh, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0, or Fort Whyte Centre, 1961 McCreary Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 2K9. We Will Never Forget You Mama and Oma. Love your Family and Friends Forever. Fly High and Visit the World. SHIRLEY REMPEL

SHIRLEY MARGARET REMPEL (nee KROEKER) 1944 - 2004 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley Margaret Rempel, wonderful wife to Peter; mother to Angela (Gordon) and Jonathan (Jennifer); Nana to Vanessa, Ryan and Camille. She is also survived by her brother Clarence (Agnes), sister Elda (David) and brother Albert (Tina). With her family by her side, mom passed away peacefully November 7, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centre's Palliative Care Unit after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her mother Margaret Kroeker in 1987 and her father Frank Kroeker in 1992. Mom's infectious and quirky sense of humour, her keen intellect and razor-sharp wit, her love of gardening and her passion for music (particularly Elvis) will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Mom was also an avid reader often going through several novels over the course of the weekend and she loved the challenge of crossword puzzles. She was particularly proud of completing the New York Times Sunday crossword in ink with no mistakes, a task she accomplished for the first time only a few short years ago. A devoted mother and grandmother, Shirley found pure joy in making other people happy and most often put the needs and wants of others before her own. She had a natural talent for turning everyday gatherings into special events and she was clearly in her element when planning pool parties, holiday gatherings and family get-togethers and nothing pleased her more than putting her superior culinary talents to work for her family and friends. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service in celebration of mom's life will be held on Thursday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. The family would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Dr. Fewer and the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the wonderful staff and people at the Riverview Health Centre's E-3 Wing Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, and/or Riverview Health Centre's Palliative Care Unit, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 1A2. We love you mom and we will think of you often - bye for now. Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 McGillivray Blvd. - 925-1120
