ROSE THOMPSON

ROSE YVONNE MARIE THOMPSON It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of (Rose) Yvonne Thompson on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the St. Boniface General Hospital. She was our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and our friend. Yvonne was born icon on January 31, 1916 to her parents, Hermidas and Agnes Bruneau in Selkirk, MB. She was predeceased by her sister Cora Thorsteinson. Spending her younger years in Selkirk, she later moved to Transcona where she raised her only daughter Marlene. She worked very hard at the CNIB for many years. She was also a proud and avid salesperson for Avon, to which she devoted 50 years of her life. Yvonne was blessed with many friends, she was a "People person" who enjoyed socializing over a good meal or a cup of tea. She will be sadly missed by her family, Marlene and Glen, Brendan and Tina, Sherri and Jeff, Stephanie, Brook, Jean, Corrine, Carole, Sharon and Jan; cousin Maryann and her husband John Huard, as well as all of her extended family and friends. Our family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the nursing staff on 5E at the St. Boniface Hospital for the compassionate care Yvonne received. A memorial service celebrating Yvonne's life will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Parish, located at 425 Rosseau Ave. East. In lieu of flowers, donations in Yvonne's memory may be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, or the Kidney Foundation of Canada. EVELYN WALL

EVELYN WALL (nee BENSON) June 9, 1918 - November 12, 2004 Peacefully on Friday November 12, at Charleswood Care Center, Evelyn passed away at the age of 86 years. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Kathy (Rob) Sanderson; grandchildren, Sean and Melissa of Winnipeg; sister Blanche Davidson of Lethbridge. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband John in 1996; brother Kermit; sisters, Ione Laidlaw and Bernice Gellalty. Evelyn was born icon and raised three miles north of Starbuck. She married John in 1955. Their only daughter Kathleen was born icon in 1958. They moved to Ferndale in 1960 and lived there until 1989, when they moved to Starbuck. Evelyn was involved with Ferndale Ladies Group, Sanford Legion auxiliary, Starbuck Horticultural society. She loved her flowers and garden also spent lots of time serving. The family wishes to thank all those who gave mom so many rides. A special thank you for all the staff at Cedar House, Rosewood Village and Unit 3 at Charleswood Care Centre for their care and compassion. MIKE YAREMCHUK On Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Mike Yaremchuk aged 91 years of Selkirk, MB. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Anne; nieces, Lena (Alan) Hoban, Joan Picketti, Betty (Roger) Jacobs and Lynn (Steve) Morris. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Peter; sister Anna Donachuk and nephew Allan. Mike was born icon at Narol, MB on August 27, 1913. He resided at Teulon for a few years, but lived most of his life in Gonor and the Lockport area. He owned and operated several businesses in both Lockport and Winnipeg and was later employed at MLCC for 11 years until his retirement. Prayers were said on Sunday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15 (today) at 2:00 p.m. in the Little Britain United Church with Rev. Chris Bridgett officiating. Interment to follow in the churchyard cemetery. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and to the staff at Betel Home and Selkirk Homecare. DIRK (DICK) ALKEMA 1935 - 2004 It is with the most profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dirk Alkema, beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa, and Opa. Following a courageous battle against cancer, he went into the arms of the Lord on November 12, 2004. His family was at his side. Dirk is survived by his wife Janna of 48 years; his children, Liz (Tom) van Leeuwen, Joyce (Jerry) Bosma, Harold (Natasha) Alkema, Dave (Franca) Alkema, Jennifer (Clayton) Smith; his grandchildren, Erin (Mark) Shay, Joyce, Laura, and Kaitlin van Leeuwen, Amanda, Jeremy, Eric, and Brendan Bosma, Angela Alkema, Talor, Emily, and Benjamin Smith; and brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in The Netherlands and Canada. We offer our most sincere thanks to Dr. P. Harris, Dr. N. Mercier and all the nurses in Oncology and on the third floor at the Concordia Hospital for their compassion and their efforts. MARY BARSKI Peacefully, on Monday, November 15, 2004, Mary Barski passed away at Kildonan Personal Care Centre at the age of 101 years. She was predeceased by her husband Walter on September 23, 1972. Mary is survived by cousins, Olga Bartkow (Jerry), Elizabeth Bedard, and Jan Zydyk (Fred). Mary was born icon July 20, 1903 in the village of New Mamayiwcki, Bucovina, Western Ukraine. She came to Canada in 1930 and resided in Winnipeg. She retired from the Laundry Department at the General Hospital. Many thanks to the 2nd floor staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre for the wonderful care they gave her. EMIL BEIKO

EMIL BEIKO May 25, 1917 - November 11, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emil Beiko. Emil is survived by his loving wife Pamela, his son Jerry (Kitty), and his daughter Shirley. He was predeceased by his son Ken; parents, Pauline and Michael; and brother William. His extended family includes Mark (Lorie), Michelle (Graham), and Adam (Jean). He is also survived by two sisters, Lucy and Anne (Bert) and brother Steve. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, and friends. Emil was born icon in 1917 and lived his early years in Charleswood where he attended Loudoun School and Charleswood High School. He served three years in the Canadian Army during The Second World War and worked at CN Express until his retirement. Emil was a loving family man. He was very kind and generous to all he knew. Other than his family, his passion was for golf, where you could find him rain or shine. The world will never be the same without him and he will be sadly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Charleswood Branch, Tank Room on the lower level, 6003 Roblin Blvd. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. DONNA DeMAN 1952 - 2004 Donna Mary Julienne DeMan, beloved daughter of Mrs. Olga DeMan of Winnipeg, MB passed away at the Sarcee Hospice after a battle with cancer at the age of 52 years. Donna was born icon on November 4, 1952 in Winnipeg. She lived in Winnipeg, Toronto and the last 12 years in Calgary. She was employed at Angus Reid Group (Ipsos-Reid) as well as Cameron Strategies. Besides her mother, Donna is survived by her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana and Carl Rochon, Grace and Jim Gyselinck; and a brother Ron DeMan, and partner Peter Beech. She was predeceased by her father Leivin DeMan.
