LILY DOUGLAS

LILY AMY DOUGLAS (nee WESTBROOK) On November 12, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital, Lily, passed away at the age of 89 years. BASIC CREMATION SERVICE 475-2100 1-888-882-2586

FLOYD DOWLING

FLOYD DOUGLAS DOWLING November 12, 1922- November 14, 2004 Our beloved Floyd passed away at the Grace Hospital on Sunday morning, November 14, 2004. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne; his son Graeme (Jean); his daughter Barb (Scott); his stepdaughters, Deb (Annie), Heidi and Lisa; his mother-in-law Georgie, and his grandchildren, Michael (Lindsay), Matthew, Christopher, Cara, Aiden, Colin, Brendan, Joseph, Lucas and Max; as well as by nieces and nephews, all of whom he was very fond. Floyd was predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen; by his stepson John; and by his brothers and sister, Art, Larry and Gladyne. Floyd was a prince among men and will be truly missed by his many friends and neighbours. He was widely known for his kindness, generosity, integrity and respect for others. His life was a gift of love. Floyd was born icon in Bladworth, SK and had a great love for the prairies all his life. Growing up as the third child of a CNR Station Agent's family, Floyd learned to value good times with his close and caring extended family as well. Enjoying the simple pleasures of life in Saskatoon proved to be the best way through the Depression years. His grandchildren can't believe his Saturday morning movie cost a nickel, and that he worked as a toolmaker's apprentice for 25 cents an hour. When the family moved to St. Catharine's Floyd, at age 17, peddled bread house-to-house with a horse and wagon, much loved by his horse who knew every stop on the route by heart. Receiving his draft notice at age 21, Floyd signed up to join the Royal Canadian Air Force, training at Lachine and Guelph. Based at Tholthorpe in England, he flew with Squadron 425 on a Halifax Bomber as a Wireless Air Gunner, with a crew of seven young men. His medals include the DFC - Distinguished Flying Cross, which he was presented for sending a message by radio about two airmen whose plane went down over the freezing cold North Sea, thereby helping to save their lives. He was also awarded the France / Germany Star because he flew over these European countries in the fight for freedom, and the 39/45, Star because the Second World War began in 1939 and ended in 1945, as well as the CVS Medal for Canadian Voluntary Service. On his return for the war Floyd earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and then came to Winnipeg to work as Credit Manager at Westeel. Floyd loved living in Silver Heights, where he raised his children with Eileen. He so enjoyed yearly camping trips at Rushing River and later, outings around Manitoba with his Good Sam Goldeyes camping friends. He was an avid golfer and a creative cook and loved music very much. Floyd was faithful in his membership responsibilities with both Deer Lodge and Silver Heights United Churches, and was a humble yet willing volunteer whenever asked, with many other organizations. Above all he loved his family. Special thanks to Drs. Kroeker, Ross, Koulack, Bergmann, Bovell, Lipson and Wiatrowski, and to caring and conscientious nursing staff at Grace Hospital Emergency and Observation and 3 North, too many to mention individually, for their loving and informative attention to Floyd and to his family these past 15 years. Floyd loved flowers, especially morning glories and roses, but would most appreciate your donations to the Canadian Diabetes. Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6, in honour of his loved ones. Floyd's ashes will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in a private service for the family. A service of celebration for Floyd's life with us will be held at Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch St. at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18 with a reception to follow in the Church Hall. "Darling Floyd - You have fought the good fight. You have finished the race. You have kept the faith. Now there is in store for you the crown of righteousness which the Lord will award to you on this day. God bless you and keep you always, with our deepest love."

THORA EINARSON

THORA MICHELLE EINARSON November 14, 2000- November 14, 2004 Peacefully, in the arms of her Mommy and Daddy, minutes after turning four years old, Thora passed into the arms of Jesus. Left to celebrate her memory is her mom Kim, dad Jeff, big sister Alida, little brother Aidan; Ama Hildur and Afi Peter Winnemuller; auntie Michelle, uncle Paul and cousins, Avery and Soren Eramchuk; Uncle Duane and Auntie Diane Winnemuller; Amma Doris and Afi Oli Einarson; Auntie Sherri, Tony; cousin Wade Shewchuk and many, many more family and friends. Thora was born icon at a whopping 9 lb. 6 1/2 oz., but turned into such a little peanut. In her short time with us she put on many miles and her fingers were never idle. Her family will never be the same and the memories we have will fill our hearts forever. Thora loved to be outside and could get those shoes on the wrong feet in split seconds to follow her Dad out to the yard or garage - never coming in clean! Thora was never too far from Mom, pushing her over to climb on the counter to help cook and sleeping with her every night. She wanted to be with Alida, playing house and Barbies for hours. She loved putting on plays with Avery and Alida and was always the star of the show! She was a senior at Interlake Nursery School and enjoyed every minute there with her friends and wonderful teachers. She loved to be "Tinkerbell Eramchuk" on her many adventures with Auntie Mimi, U.P., Avery and Soren. Talking to Uncle Deedee and Auntie Diane on the phone and longing to visit them. Tea parties with Ama Hildur, crafts with Amma Doris, hide and seek with Wade and Afi Oli's kubbi. Aidan was her "little buddy" and the love and guidance she gave him was beyond words. In four short years, Thora left such an impact on everyone she met, even if it was only once. She had a special twinkle in her eye and was sometimes very mischievous and other times showed more love than anyone could ever know. She was able to read people well and always sensed when someone needed that extra touch. When her Afi would be shaking, she would gently hold his hand to help him stop and always walked beside him to guide him. A memorial service in celebration of Thora's life will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Selkirk, MB with Pastor Dave Saude officiating. To the angels in Children's PICU, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for trying so hard to keep her with us and for letting her leave us peacefully. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thora's memory to the Children's Hospital, 840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, in care of PICU C-S3. Rest in peace, sweet angel. We'll love you forever and ever! Love Mommy and Daddy xoxo Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.

Edna married Nicholas in 1940 and went on to raise four daughters on her own when Nick died. Edna married Daniel in 1963 and started a new life in the hotel and hospitality business. This led them to live in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Manitoba. Edna went on to be a childcare giver to Michelle and Sabrina as they were growing up. Edna loved her home and her door was always open to family and friends. She had a generous heart and was gracious to all. Edna was a wonderful cook and we all have fond memories of meals enjoyed at her home. She enjoyed her travels during the last few years to Florida, Cuba and Mexico. Meow, her cat, was her special companion. She was a proud member of the Ukrainian Canadian Veterans Branch 141 and the Seniors Achievers Club on McGregor Street.
