MRS. JEAN HELEN MILLS
1923-2009
MRS. JEAN HELEN MILLS beloved wife of the late Warren B. Mills of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the age of 86 years.

She was born in Retlaw, AB. on July 15, 1923. Jean lived in Lethbridge all her life. She married Warren B. Mills (deceased on June 23, 2000).

Jean is survived by her two sons; Murray (Yvonne) Mills and Darren (Gwyn) Mills, five grandchildren Michelle Mills (Bill Daenen), Scott (Lisa) Mills, Cathy (Marty) King, Ryan Mills, Cristy (Mark) Burris, two great-grandsons; Cole Mills and Vance King, also two nieces; Gail Guise and Sharon (Larry) Lassu.

Jean was predeceased by Jean Helen and John David Guise (parents), brothers; Don, Alex and Alvin.

A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Private interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s name to Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, 324- Mayor Magrath Dr. S., Lethbridge, AB. T1J 3L7.

BRIDGET MANY GREY HORSES
1929-2009
Bridget Many Grey Horses (nee BlackWater) "Misami’saan" also known as "Mademoiselle" passed away peacefully Friday November 13, 2009 at the age of 80 years. Bridget was born March 3, 1929 on the Blood Reserve to Henry Cochrane (BlackWater) and Mary Rider (Matsiapi). She spent her early years at St. Mary's Indian Residential school and was there from infancy until 16 years of age. She had hoped to further her education and become a nurse but circumstances prevented her from following this path.
She married Cecil HolyWhiteman and together they had 3 children -- Cecil, Joseph, and Rita. After the passing of her first husband, she married Douglas Many Grey Horses. They had 7 children together: Rosie (Jackie Crowshoe), Douglas (Carolyn), Bryan, Audrey (Gary), Calvert (Connie), Valerie, Rex (Yolanda). They settled in the st. Mary's dam area.
Bridget moved north and worked in Edmonton and Dawson Creek. She moved to Vancouver, BC in the mid 60's. Bridget married Rolf Langenbach. She spoke of Rolf as very good man and together they raised her granddaughter Lanna Dee Many Grey Horses. Bridget proudly worked as a housekeeper for the Malibu Princess ferry for several years. Later, she lived and worked in Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Bridget had many fond memories of Vancouver and hosted many of her relatives of the Blood Reserve when they came to Vancouver.
In 1989, Bridget lost her daughter Rita Holy White Man -- a life changing event for her. In 1997, Bridget returned to Alberta to be closer to her family. Bridget sadly lost her eldest son Cecil in 2006 whom she had a close relationship to and fondly referred to him as her "roommate". She was deeply saddened by the loss of her special granddaughter: Kari-lynn "Tweety" Soop whom she brought special fry bread to daily.

She also looked forward to her visits from her sons Joe, Douglas, Bryan, Calvert and Rex. She enjoyed living with her grandsons Darryl and Truman. She, also, had a special relationship to Kevin and his kids whom she called her "Boss". She spent the remaining years of her life living with her daughter Audrey who took exceptional care of her. Her favorite past times were spent with her bingo and casino partners Jackie and Rosie where she was known as "lady luck". Grandma Bridget also spoke of missing her daughter Valerie and family whom had a close bond to while in Vancouver.
Bridget will be remembered by all as a hard working, generous and fiercely independent woman with a great sense of humour. She took pride in all of her children and grandchildren's accomplishments especially her cowboys and cowgirls. Grandma Bridget would speak highly of her family's participation in Rodeo events.
Bridget joins her Mother Mary and beloved sisters Mary Ann BlackWater, Ada Kadonaga, and Myrtle Scout, they were fondly referred as the "Golden Girls". She is also predeceased by her father Henry Cochrane, siblings; Bill Blackwater, George Blackwater, Stan Blackwater Sr., Annie Blackwater, and Eileen Eagle Plume; Children: Rita and Cecil Holywhiteman; and numerous other relatives too many to mention.
She is survived by: Brother: Anthony Black Water; sister Joan.
The family would like to apologize if any names were left out in error.
A Family Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 5:00 P.M.

A Wake Service will be held at WHITE CALF CHAPEL, Standoff, AB on Monday, November 23, 2009 from 7:00 to 11:00 P.M.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. MARY’S IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, Blood Reserve, AB on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Pawel Andrasz celebrant. Interment to follow at Holy White Man family plot.

RICHARD MCLAREN
1945-2009
Mr. RICHARD McLAREN, beloved husband of Mrs. Gerry McLaren of Slave Lake, AB, passed away at the Slave Lake Hospital on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the age of 64 years.

Richard is survived by his wife of 43 years Gerry, and his family, Michael and children (Jess, Joey, June), Ric (Keri) children (Alyssa, Brandon, Ethan, Emma), his adopted beloved dogs (Sulley and Snoopie), also survived by his brothers Tom (Alice) and familes, Willie and families, sister-in-law Jean and families, mother-in-law Lena Boychuk and her family. Predeceased by son Jeff, parents, Fred and Jane Anne, brother Fred, father-in-law Mike.

Richard was born August 17, 1945 to Jane Anne and Fred McLaren in Lethbridge. Richard attended Coalhurst School from 1-12. He was an avid basketball player. It was there he met his one and only love, Gerry. They had 3 sons together. His oldest Jeffrey deceased in 1992.
Richard lived in Coalhurst his entire life until he retired in 2000. He was considered a pioneer in the cable industry. In 2001 he moved to Slave Lake to manage the cable company. He has considered this home for the past eight years. Eventually the entire family joined him up North, where he and his two sons ran the cable system together.
Richard ran for councillor after Coalhurst became a village in 1979 and was then elected Mayor, a job he was dedicated to and enjoyed immensely.

He loved to spend time fishing with his family always trying to catch the biggest fish, but his three year old granddaughter Emma kept out doing him. The last three and a half years as he struggled with cancer his family remained his focus wanting to spend as much time with them as he could. And through the struggle he kept his wit about him.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 7:30 P.M.with Teresa Grice, officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Raul Hernandez celebrant. Interment to follow at Archmount Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Ave. Edmonton. AB. T6G 1Z2 or to Lethbridge and District Humane Society, P.O. Box 783, Lethbridge, AB T1J 3Z6.

GEORGE JAMES MEHALKO
1917-2009
MR. GEORGE JAMES MEHALKO JR. beloved husband of Mrs. Irene Mehalko, of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Heath Centre on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the age of 92 years.

Besides his loving wife he is survived by Donald (Jackie) Mehalko of Turin, Gwen (Don) Baker of Coaldale, four grandchildren; Jason (Marcie) Mehalko of Bakersfield, Cal., Brad (Jennifer) Mehalko of Ontario, Cal., Robbie (Darryl) Moore of Lethbridge, and Jaime (Chris) Clawson of Lethbridge, four great-grandchildren; Jasmine and Katlin Mehalko of Bakersfield, Cal. and Ellie and Emi Clawson of Lethbridge.

He is also survived by two brothers; John (Helen) Mehalko of Lethbridge and Joe (Maxine) Mehalko of Turin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters; Regina Mehalko and Margaret Bilton, and one granddaughter Kally Baker.
George was born and raised in the Sundial area to a pioneer homestead family, where he continued to farm there till he retired in 1984 to Lethbridge. George was a resident of St. Michael’s for the last couple of years.

A special thanks to the East Wing of the Palliative Care of St. Michael’s for their care and support of George and the family.

A private Family Service will take place at Mountain View Cemetery, 11th Street & Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11:00 A.M.

Relatives and friends are invited to join in a Celebration of George’s life at the LETHBRIDGE LODGE, ASPEN ROOM, 320 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M.

NEITSCH, PEARL EDITH
1920-2010
PEARL EDITH NEITSCH passed away quietly at Extendicare in Lethbridge on Saturday, January 16, 2010.

Pearl was predeceased by her husband Otto, and grandson Trent.

She will be lovingly remembered by daughters Jeanette (Bob) Ouellette of Pine Lake and Debbie (Jack) Burger of Lethbridge; grandchildren Trevor (Quenie) Kuzio of Malaysia and Carla (Tim) Nathan of Texas; great-grandchildren Wyatt, James, Shallon and Tenzie.

Pearl married Otto in 1940 and together they farmed for almost 40 years, first in the Warburg area then near Redwater, forging a multitude of lifelong friendships.
Retirement saw them traveling, camping, fishing and visiting from coast to coast and top to bottom of the country.

Pearl could perform magic with sewing machines, knitting needles and crochet hooks. She bowled a mean game and absolutely loved to dance. She had an amazing sense of humour and really enjoyed a good laugh.
Friends and family are invited to the WARBURG LEGION HALL on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. to remember and celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pearl’s memory to your local Alzheimer Society or to Memory Lane, Extendicare Lethbridge, 1821-13th Street, North, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1H 2V4.

ISAAC (IKE) NEUFELDT
1921 - 2009
ISAAC (IKE) NEUFELDT, beloved husband of Eleanor (Weaver) Neufeldt of 50 years, passed away at the Coaldale Health Care Centre on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the age of 88. Ike was born in Kubanka, Orenburg, Russia on April 19, 1921 to John and Cornelia (Born) Neufeldt. In 1926 his family came to Canada, settling in Coaldale in 1930.

Ike had a plumbing and heating business in the 1950s and 60s and partnered with his brother Jake in the manufacturing company, Neufeldt Industries. Here he developed the Sure Flame line of construction heaters, which are now manufactured by Haul-All Equipment Ltd. Ike also volunteered with the Coaldale Fire Department for many years.

Besides his wife Eleanor, he is survived by his four children and eight grandchildren: Kevin (Noreen) Neufeldt, (Paul [Joani], Christopher, and Michael); Bryan (Geum Suk Min) Neufeldt (Thomas and Daniel); David Wiebe Neufeldt (Joel and Nathan); and Sherilyn (Arnold) Neufeldt-Fast (Emily).

Ike is also survived by his brothers Jake (Anne), Ab (Irma), Peter (Edna); sisters Anne Boehr, Elaine (Art) Vanderlinden, Mary (Abe) Martens; sister-in-law Verna Neufeldt and brother-in-law Richard (Margaret) Weaver.

He was predeceased by his parents, his granddaughter Rebecca Neufeldt-Fast, and his siblings John, Kornelia, Aganeta and Maria.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at COALDALE MENNONITE CHURCH, 2316 – 17th Street, Coaldale, AB, on Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be held at COALDALE MENNONITE CHURCH on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Robert Janzen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (#210, 2946 - 32 St. N.E., Calgary, AB, T1Y 6J7).
