MARCEL VICTOR LAHURE Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Marcel Lahure, aged 80 years, beloved husband of Millie Lahure of Carman, MB. (formerly of Stephenfield, MB) passed away at the Carman Hospital on Friday, July 2, 2004. Besides his wife, Millie he is survived by two sons, Terry and wife Linda of Calgary, AB., and Rick of White Rock, BC. Also surviving are his grandchildren
, Chris (Robin) of Calgary, AB, Lana Lahure-Lemus (Fredy) of Quatamala and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Bailey Lahure (their Mom Lisa) and Samantha Lemus. Marcel was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Helene Lahure, two brothers Harry, George and sister Ida Hodgson. Marcel spent from 1943 to 1946 in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteers in the Second World War. After which he operated the Stephenfield General Store to 1970 and then from 1970 - 1991 he held various positions at Kimberly-Clark retiring as office manager in 1991. Marcel enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carman United Church with Rev. Nancy Finlayson and Catherine Waldie officiating. A private interment will take place in the Graysville Cemetery. JAMES (JIM) ROBERT LEE Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on June 30, 2004 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Jim, beloved husband of Barbara Lee, passed away at age 63 years. Besides his wife, Barbara, Jim is survived by two daughters, Kim (Joe) Clory, Robyne (Bernie) Neufeld and six grandchildren, Mike, Sean, Danielle, Jordan Clory and Ashley, Stephanie Neufeld. JOHN DOUGLAS MacFARLANE 1920 - 2004 On Monday, June 28, 2004, Douglas MacFarlane passed quietly away at the age of 83 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; son Keith (Nila); daughter Audrey Owens (Thompson); and grandchildren, Laurel and Graham MacFarlane and Kyle and Neil Owens. Doug was predeceased by his son Lorne in 1959. Douglas faced life's challenges with unwavering integrity, humility, and quiet courage. He was an intensely rational man who enjoyed treating experiences as complex puzzles whether it be a Saturday crossword or a financial prospectus. Doug was assiduous in matters of finance, but generous in spirit. In December 2002 Doug and Dorothy took all three generations of the family to Hawaii, including Nila's mother Bernice Dennis. Doug was a man of simple pleasures: serving on church committees, curling, playing bridge, searching for blueberries in the woods by his cottage, and travelling. He and Dorothy saw much of the world in the years after his retirement. Doug's life was fulfilled by Dorothy. They were companions in life and love. It was because of Dorothy's unselfish and sustained care that Doug was able to enjoy quality of life in his last few years. Soft spoken and mild mannered, Doug was a man of uncommon courage. During the war he was wounded while a gun position officer in the Royal Canadian Artillery 2nd Division. Later, as a forward observation officer, he received the military Cross for courage under fire. In peacetime he became a Chemistry teacher, and later principal of Sisler High School before retiring in 1979. Doug was a magnificent grandfather to Laurel, Graham, Kyle, and Neil. Doug and Dorothy took all four of them to Normandy for the 50th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in 1994. Doug took interest in their activities, pride in their achievements, and often expressed wondrous awe at each of their talents. Above all else, Doug was a good man. His life will provide happy memories and inspiration for his family in the years ahead. A service celebrating Doug's life will be held at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave. on Wednesday, July 7, at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. JIM MARTON October 31, 1922 - June 29, 2004 Jim passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening at Riverview hospital in the presence of his family following a battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years Carlotta; and by his parents, Lydia and Sandor; and stepmother Julia. Jim was born
in Mosomagyar Var, Hungary and despite life's adversities including the Depression, Second World War and experiencing hardships as a POW, he prevailed with an optimistic view of life. He came to Winnipeg in 1957, and worked as a house painter, in upholstery and finally worked at Health Sciences Centre D2 for 19 years, before he retired. He was a humble, gentle person who enjoyed the classics, especially Strauss. He loved to dance, (his specialty was the Waltz) and was active in the Hungarian community plays. He was a creative craftsman and loved spending time playing Canasta at the cottage. He enjoyed nature and was faithful in feeding the birds and squirrels. It was always a priority to put his family first and thus will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his daughter Anna Kovacs; grandchildren, Chris Marton, Melissa (Mark) Toews; and his brother Nandor Marton. REVEREND CANON WILLIAM MCGREGOR 1918-2004 Born in Dublin, Ireland and died peacefully on his birthday, at sunrise, June 27. Survived by Dorothy, his love and wife of 58 years, five children and spouses, 13 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson: daughters, Wenonah Moore (Doug), Dorothy Mash (John), Ailsa Lauder (Drew); sons, Bill (Joanne), and Rob (Lorraine); grandchildren, Cara (Andrew), Ryan (Helen), Cristy (Matt), Adam, Duncan, Carley, Shawn, Martin (Susan), Troy, Cole, Kian, Kristopher, Nathalie; and great-grandson Royce. Bill and Dorothy came with their first two daughters to Canada in 1950 to the Anglican Diocese of Saskatchewan, parish of All Saints in Leask, SK. (1950-55). In his ministry he served the parishes ofHoly Trinity, Meadow Lake (1955-57), St. Paul's, North Battleford, SK. (1957-68), St. Saviour's, Winnipeg, MB. (1968-75), and Holy Trinity, Winnipeg (1975-84), from where he retired.. Many parishes had neighbouring churches under the same parishes, and Bill was Rural Dean in the Diocese of Saskatoon. After retirement, Bill did summer and interim work at many parishes in the Diocese of Rupertsland, was an active member of St. Aidan's, Winnipeg; St. Paul's, Yuma, Az.; Villa Alameda, Yuma, Az; and Holy Trinity , White Rock, B.C. Bill was ordained deacon in 1951, priested in 1952, and graduated from Emmanuel College, Saskatoon (S. Th.) He was a teacher in Ireland and both his teaching and his quest for learning continued throughout his life. He was extraordinarily well-read and found inspiration for his sermons in poetry, in people, and in God's world around him. He took many courses over the years, and he in turn gave back his knowledge. He returned part-time to University (St. John's College, Winnipeg) when his children were there, and after retirement took diverse subjects at the Extension Division, University of Arizona. He shared the goodness he found in God's creations in his ministry in the church and in his life, leading trips to the Holy Land,exploring North America with his family, Europe and Hong Kong with his wife, explaining desert life on walks in Arizona, the night sky everywhere he travelled, and sealife off the pier on his daily walks on the seawall in White Rock. Many people will remember his sermons, his eloquence, and his absolute faith. Some sought him out years later to let him know how he had touched their lives. And in later years, the stones he collected and polished, and then gave away as gifts with a message for us all. Bill's family would like to add to his thanks to Doctors Ursula Lee,Spangehl , and Claybeck for their care and support. Thank you also to the treatment teams in three Medical, Emergency, and Palliative Care Units at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, for their gentle and personal care. The family gratefully declines flowers. ARCHIE MCINTYRE On Tuesday, June 29, 2004, Archie McIntyre passed away peacefully at the Golden Links Lodge at the age of 86. Archie is survived by his devoted wife Lillian; his daughter Heather McIntyre; his four sons, Archie (Elaine), Campbell (Lorraine), Ted (Susan), Hal (Kim); 10 grandchildren, Joanne Levasseur (Peter), David Levasseur (Danielle), Kim Leighton-McIntyre (Shane), Kevin Ivanans-McIntyre (Henriette), Leanne McIntyre (Jeff), Melanie McIntyre (Chris), Micheal McIntyre (Chassity), Stephen McIntyre (Robyn), Megan McIntyre, Bailey McIntyre; and five great-grandchildren. Archie was predeceased by his twin brother Jim and his sisters, Helen and June. Archie was born
and raised in Winnipeg's West End. In 1938, he began work as a cattleman at the St. Boniface Stockyards. It was there that he met the love of his life, Lillian Whyard. Archie and Lillian married in 1945 and raised their family in St. Vital. After 45 years at the stockyards, Archie settled easily into retirement. He enjoyed travelling and going to the horse races. Most of all, he enjoyed the companionship of his wife Lillian and spending time with his grandchildren and family. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Golden Links Lodge for their great care as well as for the compassion, kindness and friendship shown to our mother over this difficult year. Archie's life will be celebrated at a private gathering of friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
