TOM JENKINS Tom Jenkins, husband, father, grandfather and master craftsman, passed away on June 20, 2004 at his home in Cloverdale. He is survived by his wife Pam, sister Valerie, his son Matt, his daughters, Niki and Jennifer, and his granddaughter Brooke. He was our diamond in the rough having a keen intellect and sophistication under his various hats and a warm and sincere love filling out his suspenders. We knew he was contemplating a new challenge when he thoughtfully scratched his beard. He was always teaching those around him in the wisdom of "Blacksmithing 101". Tom always worked hard and loved fully. He was a genuine spirit and always open with his heart and the home that he built with his best friend Pam. A celebration of his life will take place at 785 Cloverdale Rd. on Thursday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes. Association in lieu of flowers. CHARLES HENRI LAPOINTE At his home, with his family by his side, Dad passed on peacefully in the early morning of Sunday, June 20, 2004. He will be lovingly remembered by Gisele (Paul Lagasse), Huguette (Marc Berard), Line (Roger Delorme), Paulette (Claude Devigne), Marc, Denis (Brenda), Paul (Lise), Guy (Betty) Boisvert, Marguerite (Yvon Bissonnette), Bibiane (Arnold); many grandchildren
; his sisters, Orise Macintyre, Simone Hebert; and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by the two loves of his life, his wife Fernande Gauthier (1974), longtime companion Therese Boisvert (1999), a daughter Lise, his parents, five sisters and four brothers. Henri was born
and raised in Ste. Agathe, MB where he farmed until he retired in the 1980s and moved to Winnipeg. He loved the land despite its unpredictable nature and later enjoyed helping his nephew Gerald during harvesting season. He gave us unconditional love and by his own strong work ethics showed us to persevere in the face of adversity. With his quiet disposition and friendly smile, he touched the lives of many people. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be celebrated Thursday, June 24 at 4:00 p.m. in the Ste. Agathe Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Agathe, MB. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the personnel of Centre de Sante and the WRHA Palliative Care Program for their assistance in making it possible to honour Dad's wish to comfortably remain in his house. KATHRYN ELIZABETH MANN (nee HANSON) In the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family and friends, Kathy passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Bob; mother Catherine; daughter Kara (John); son Richard (Michelle); sister Hilary (Don); and her beloved grandchild Anna. At Kathy's request, a Celebration of her Life will be held with a private gathering at the house on Friday, June 25 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Our family would like to thank all the friends that touched Kathy's life. A special thanks to Islay Giles for all her care and support. LYDIA MOSER (nee KULLMAN) Peacefully in her 88th year, on Sunday, June 20, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital. Lydia (Oma) was born
in Winnipeg on January 22, 1916. Oma will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughter Marilyn (Richard) Kurkowski; grandchildren, Rick (Christine) Kurkowski and Lisa (Randy) Duxbury; and great-grandson Devlin Duxbury; brother Paul Kullman; nieces and nephews, Carol, Trudy, Renate and Douglas. She was predeceased by her husband Rudolf (Roy) Moser; parents, Johann and Elizabeth Kullman; and brothers, Charlie, Jack and William. Lydia was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church, and married Roy on July 15, 1939 in the same church. Until her last few years, Lydia enjoyed a happy and healthy life. She liked life's simple things, cooking and baking, listening to music, playing cards with Opa and Rick, and took delight in her great grandson Devlin. GILBERT PETERS Suddenly on Friday, June 18, 2004 at his residence, Gilbert Peters passed away. Gilbert will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Quinn and Brenn Peters; mother Lillian Peters; sisters, Gloria (Donal) Wolff and Sandy Peters; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his father Wesley. Though Gilbert spent several years engaged in his profession of teaching, when he and his wife moved to Vancouver and had a young family, he began a new career of raising his children and being a stay-at-home dad. His greatest joy in life was his two sons, with whom he shared his vast knowledge and passion for music. Gil will be remembered for his spontaneous spirit and the lasting impression this has made upon his children. Special thank you to his caregivers, especially Ian Mieslo. YVONNE PATRICIA RATTE It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Yvonne Ratte on June 18, 2004. Yvonne was the second oldest of the eight children born
to Marjorie and Rudolph Mantik. Yvonne was born
November 28, 1938 in Winnipeg, MB. She lived in Ashern where she married Rene Ratte. After the birth of their first child they moved to Winnipeg to raise their family. Over the years Mom worked occasionally to supplement the family income. She immensely enjoyed working at the Conquest Nursing Home. Yvonne and Rene enjoyed league bowling, taking family trips to BC, and sharing the joy of camping with their children. In her retirement Yvonne enjoyed listening to her Sunday radio show on CRFY, bingo and going out for coffee. She is survived by her children, Cliff and Pat (David, Lindsey, and Ryan), Jim and Heather (Andrew and Jennifer), Donna and Butch (Kenny, B.J., Gage and Cole), Joanne and Don (Lori, Damien, and Crystal), Debbie (Melissa and Hugh), Michael and Denise (Kevin, Brendan, Nathan, Kurtis, Clayton, Sydney, Kristopher, Michael, Eric and Janine), Donald (Cerise and Jessica), Les; and one great-granddaughter Abigail born

LT. COLONEL GRANT HAMILTON REID (Ret'd; CD) Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Grant passed away at the age of 81 years at the Health Sciences Centre on June 19, 2004. Grant will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Ariel; and daughters, Caron Ann McLean (David) of Fort McMurray, AB and Ariel Catherine Reid of Winnipeg. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce Corbett of Moosomin, SK and Velma Snitka of Dauphin, MB; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Catherine Reid; sister Marie; and brothers-in-law, Frank Corbett, David Snitka, Denton Badenoch; and sister-in-law Alison Badenoch. Grant was born
in Moosomin on May 9, 1923 where he grew up and received his education. At the age of 17 years, he joined the Canadian Army. In August 1942, he was sent to England and from there to Italy, where he served with the Lanark and Renfrew Scottish Regiment and was wounded in battle. Once recovered, he returned to his regiment in north-west Europe. At war's end, Grant rejoined the Canadian Artillery Regiment and served proudly for 31 years, stationed in Shilo, Ottawa, Germany, Picton, Kingston, Winnipeg, Halifax, Gagetown, London, England and finally Winnipeg. After early retirement, Grant took an administrative position with the Provincial Department of Health and Corrections, where he remained for 12 years until poor health led to his retirement. Grant was a kind, quiet, dignified gentleman who loved his family dearly and enjoyed the pastimes of gardening, woodworking and the beauty of nature and music. He was an avid reader with a great interest in history. Grant was a member of St. Andrews Anglican Church. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. John Geddes, nurses, Shari and Sheila, the Health Sciences Centre pacemaker clinic nurses, and to the staff of B3 and MICU for their care and compassion. A private family Burial will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service on Thursday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. with reception to follow in the hall. LISA REZNIK Our beloved Lisa was freed from all suffering Monday, June 21, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital. Left to treasure the memory of Lisa's beautiful spirit are her parents, George and Carol Reznik; her brother George and sister-in-law Auriana; her niece Gabi; grandmother Mona Langlois; her special friend James; the Matheos family; cousins, Joan and Linda Gervais and Morgan Boyd, and Uncle Julius and Aunt Cathy Reznik and their family. Lisa was born
on February 27, 1967. She attended elementary school at St. John Brebeuf and graduated from St. Mary's Academy where she is remembered as a brilliant student. She was a remarkably talented musician who played piano accompaniment for school musicals and for ballet classes at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Lisa was also an accomplished chef who graduated top of her class in Culinary Arts at Red River College. Lisa was unforgettable. She was renowned for her incredible sense of humour. She shared laughter and love with everyone that crossed her path. To be in her presence was to be touched to one's very soul. We would specifically like to thank Dr. Frank Bovell, as well as the rest of the St. Boniface Staff, for their compassionate support. MARIA TERESINHA DA SILVA RODRIGUES It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, Teresinha Rodrigues on Sunday, June 20, 2004 at St. Boniface General Hospital. After a long battle with ALS, she went peacefully, with her family by her side. Teresinha was predeceased by her parents, Filomena Ramos and Manuel Fransicsco Da Silva and her brother, Jose Da Silva. She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband of 41 years, Antonio Da Rosa Rodrigues; daughters, Gabriela Rodrigues (Robert Lewis), Edite (Jayson) Wyryha; son, Tony Rodrigues; grandchildren, Daniela, and Cinjin; brothers, Manuel (Balbina), Joao (Geraldina); sisters, Natalia (Urbano), Manuela (the late Manuel); sister-in-law Senhorinha; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and godchildren. Teresinha was born
in Faial, Acores, Portugal in 1938 and moved to Winnipeg in 1964. She was employed in the garment industry as a seamstress for 36 years and retired at the age of 62. Teresinha was able to enjoy a reunion to visit long lost family members, (the late Jose Ramos) in Brazil, before her illness required her to stay close to home. She took tremendous pleasure in watching her grandchildren grow. She regretted not being able to enjoy more time with her grandchildren. The love of her family was the joy of her life. The family is very grateful for all the support and assistance that was so generously given by relatives and friends and the care and compassion provided by the ALS Society, the Deer Lodge ALS Team, the staff of the Palliative Home Care Program and the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital. MARY STETZ 1926 - 2004 After a lengthy and courageous battle with the many complications of diabetes., Mary Stetz (nee Roberecki) passed away at the age of 77. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Michael; her sons, Alan (Cathy) and Kelly; brothers, John (Julia), Jerry, Eddie (Delores); sister Anne as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Anna, and her sisters, Julie and Olga. Mary was born
on Christmas Day, December 25, 1926 at home in Ledwyn, MB. After high school she moved to Winnipeg where she worked as a seamstress and later at the prestigious St. Regis Hotel. After returning home to Ledwyn she married Michael and became a full time farm wife and mother of two sons. Thirteen years later the family resettled on the farm in Meadow Lea where they lived for the next 37 years. Mary loved to garden, sew, cook and knit for all who knew her and was well known for her homemade bread and cabbage rolls. She enjoyed lively conversation, had a hearty laugh and a quick wit. Due to their failing health, they moved from the farm to Stonewall where they met many new friends and acquaintances. Many thanks to the staff and home care workers for their patience, generosity and kind words throughout Mary's stay at Stonewood Place in Stonewall. Many thanks also to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Stonewall Health Centre for their support, care and wonderful senses of humour throughout Mary's many visits there. Cremations has taken place. KERRY TALMAGE It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Kerry Talmage on June 17, 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii after a lengthy illness. Kerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ildiko; mother Mary Lou; brother Rod (Roberta); niece Brenna; nephew Trey; mother and father-in-law Roza and Frank Vass; sister-in law Gyongyi of Toronto; maternal grandmother Mabel Schwartz (Murawsky) of Kitchener; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends around the world. He was predeceased by his father Dale in 2000. Kerry was born
in Kitchener, ON on March 23, 1963. In 1975 his family moved to Winnipeg. He also lived in Toronto, Vancouver, Boston, California and was presently living in Hawaii. He attended school in Charleswood and graduated from Oak Park High School in 1981. He attended RRCC for a short time before following his dream of becoming a performer. For the last 18 years Kerry has been successful in pursuing his career on stage doing stand up comedy, appearing in movies and TV commercials. Kerry's career has taken him to many parts of the world. Some of his favourites were England, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Africa. Before his most recent illness he had just returned from a Western Canada tour. Kerry developed juvenile diabetes. at the age of 5. He endured many health related problems. Just recently he had to begin dialysis again after his kidney of 12 years failed. Through sheer determination, courage, optimism and love of life, Kerry lived his life on his terms and was respected for it. He fought back from several near death situations. He used his hospital experiences, his health issues and his small stature for much of his comedy material. He was happiest when he was on stage making people laugh. His wife of four years was the love of his life and he wanted desperately to have more time with her. His greatest joy was playing with his niece and nephew Brenna and Trey. They loved when "Uncle Kerry" came home for a visit. To comply with Kerry's wishes there will be no funeral service. Friends of Kerry's are having a charity function in Toronto at a later date, and a reception will be held in Mississauga for Ontario relatives. Friends and family of Kerry are invited to an informal reception on Friday, June 25 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, reception room, 4000 Portage Ave. between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Flowers are declined. Donations on Kerry's behalf may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes. Research Fund, The Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
