GEORGE MacGREGOR (GREG) WOODBURY On June 19, 2004 at the Grace General Hospital, George MacGregor (Greg) Woodbury, aged 84 years, of 228 Nightingale Rd. Greg was born icon in Lethbridge, AB on March 28, 1920, spent much of his youth in southern Saskatchewan and received his secondary education in Calgary. After a brief teaching career he joined the RCMP and was a proud member for 27 years, stationed at St. Norbert, Brandon, Melita, Crystal City, and finally Winnipeg "D" Division, CIB Reader's Office, until his retirement in 1967. Greg also enjoyed an 11 year career with Canada Safeway Limited, working as a district Security Manager until 1979. Later, he served the Province of Manitoba Attorneys General Office as a Magistrate, finally retiring from all employment in 1986. For a time Greg was active in the RCMP Veteran's Association and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 145, G.R.M, A.F. and A.M. Greg will be remembered by his family for the enormous number of friends and acquaintances that he attracted in his lifetime. His genuine interest in others and an incredible memory for names and faces made it appear that he knew someone wherever he went. He had a remarkable talent for introducing himself and being friendly with those he met in any circumstance. He was predeceased by his wife Maybell Sutherland Woodbury (nee Gair) in 1986 and his brother Donald Woodbury of Peterborough, ON. Surviving are his daughter Joan Woodbury of Richmond, BC; and sons, Murray (Michele) of Saskatoon, SK, Earl and Don (Cathy) of Winnipeg; as well as his grandchildren, Tara, Grant, Vaughan, Callum, Adam, and Devin. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 432 Ellice Ave., Winnipeg.

ALICE BENOITON

ALICE BENOITON (nee GIROUARD) Alice Benoiton passed away peacefully in her 101st year, at mid-day Saturday, June 19, 2004 at the Foyer Notre dame de Lourdes. Alice was born icon October 29, 1903. She was the eldest of a family of ten raised by David Girouard and Emma (Labossiere) in Somerset, MB. In 1997, spouse Benoit J., predeceased her in Montreal, where the family had moved to from Somerset in 1947. Son Rene and late spouse Moira, and grandchildren, Danielle (and spouse David) of North Bay, and Gilles-Guy (and spouse Connie) are Edmontonians, while son Leo and spouse Ljuba reside in Ottawa. Daughters Paula, Janet and boy triplets died as babies in Somerset. She is also survived by sister Melba (Patton) of Brandon, and was predeceased by sisters, Berthe (Mardon) of Montreal, Dora (Dawe) of Toronto, Liliane of Somerset, Viola (Moreau) of Los Angeles, and brothers Lorenzo, Donald, Orlando and Roland, all of Somerset. Among her memorable moments was the celebration of her 100th birthday last October at the rendezvous in Somerset, where she was greeted by relatives from throughout the continent. Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 22 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame de la Nativite Church in Somerset, MB on Wednesday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. MARGARET BOAK

MARGARET ELIZABETH BOAK (nee HARPER) Margaret, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away quietly at Tuxedo Villa on Saturday June 19, 2004 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Margaret Harper, and her brothers, Ronald and Jack. Margaret will be greatly missed and deeply mourned by Bob, her husband of 63 years. Also, leaving to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life are her children: Terry Boak (Cathy), Wendy Ritchie (Paul) and Diane Campbell (Gus); grandchildren, Tanis, Maggie and Elizabeth Boak; Pamela and David Ritchie; Robin Clegg (Brent), Colin and Wendy Campbell. Margaret's main focus in life was to her husband, children and grandchildren. Fond memories include, summering at Victoria Beach, family car trips and friends and family on Beaverbrook Street. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and baking and for a number of years was an avid curler. She liked animals and loved her pets. She had a wonderful laugh and a kind heart. She will be remembered and cherished. A private gravesite memorial service will be held June 23 officiated by the Rev. Dr. Cathy Campbell. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude for the exceptional care and kindness given our mother by the staff of Tuxedo Villa. KATHERINE BUHAY It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Katherine Buhay on Friday, June 18, 2004 at Holy Family Nursing Home at the age of 90. Katherine leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, one son Allan; one daughter Sylvia and her husband John Chorney; grandchildren, Larry, Greg (April) and Donna (Bill) Newall; her brother Fred Dudych and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas in 1984; her parents, Michael and Anna Dudych; brothers, Dmytro, Bill, John, Nicholas, Alex; and her sisters, Mary, Tatianna and Nettie. Mother was a faithful member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral and St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic parishes, the UCW League and the Apostleship of Prayer. Her strong faith helped her persevere all adversities and her unselfish manner, sacrifice and caring for her family, enriching their lives with her warmth, compassion, kindness and generosity was an inspiration to us all. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, relatives and all those whose lives she touched. LONNIE COLLINS It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lonnie Collins on June 17, 2004. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Traci, son-in-law Perry Stephenson, and grandchildren, Parker and Karli. She was predeceased by her father and mother, George and Dorothy Tunstall; and her brother Stacey Tunstall. Lonnie was born icon in Medicine Hat, AB on May 12, 1949. She enjoyed a wonderful career in nursing both as a LPN and then later as a RN. She had been employed at the Concordia Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit, until her illness. Lonnie's grandchildren were her pride and joy, her love for them overflowed. She was a woman with a strong faith in God. She drew much strength from Springs Church and volunteered her time at the information booth. Traci would like to thank all of Lonnie's friends who supported her mother during this last difficult year. Lonnie was a true friend, loving mother, grandmother and a caring compassionate nurse. The people whose lives she has touched will sadly miss her. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Charleswood United Church 4820 Roblin Blvd. with Rev. Michael Wilson officiating. God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be, so He closed his arms around and whispered, "Come to Me". TED CROWSTON Peacefully, Ted passed away on June 16, 2004 at the age of 84. Ted will be lovingly remembered by his wife Fran; sisters Win and Kay; children Buzz (Bev), Derryn, Dana (Gerald), Sean (Lorraine), Ken (Eileen), Harvey (Susan), Ron (Coleen), and Marlene; grandchildren Trevor (Jean), Graham, Meghan, Arwin, Devin, Zoe, Ian, Allison (Jeff), David and Jeremy; and countless friends and relatives. Ted was predeceased by wife Dora, his sister Marie, mother May and father Edwin. Ted's accomplishments were many starting at an early age. Upon graduation from High School he was awarded the Governor General's Medal. Later Ted was employed by Industry, Trade and Commerce of the Federal Government. Volunteering was very important to Ted and he gave back to the Community in many ways. He was very active with the Scouts of Canada and was a District Commissioner. Ted was a dedicated driver for Cancer Care. He was recognized by the Masonic Lodge and received his 50 Year Pin. He was a member of the Khartum Shrine Oriental Band and St. Mary's Road Church. Ted served in the RCAF during the Second World War. Ted was a very kind and generous man who always greeted people with a cheery "Hello". Ted's interests were many. Besides volunteering, he enjoyed biking, travel, bridge, photography and woodworking. Special thanks to all the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, especially Dr. Verrelli and his staff of the Dialysis Unit for their unending care and concern. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, June 22 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Rd. (Junction of St. Anne's and St. Mary's Roads). With Rev. Russell Waddell officiating. Hughie leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Alice Delf (nee Turnbull), daughter Doris Jackson, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. PLACIDA DONVITO (nee BRUNO) Peacefully on May 6, 2004, Placida Donvito passed away in Toritto, Bari, Italy, at the age of 88. She was born icon in Bitritto, Bari, Italy, on January 28, 1916, and resided most of her life in Modugno, Bari, Italy. Placida was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Paola, on December 16, 1994. Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Maria (Angelo) Pentrelli of Winnipeg, Pietro (Paola) of Italy, Fedelina (Vito) Fumai of Italy, Domenico (Margherita) of Italy, Angelina of Italy, Joe (Toni) of Winnipeg, grandchildren, Paolo Pentrelli, Eugene (Angie) Pentrelli, Lina Pentrelli, Paul Donvito, and great-grandchild Maria Pentrelli, all of Winnipeg and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren all from Italy. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Winnipeg, MB with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding.

RANDY CHARLES ENGSTROM Peacefully and with great courage and dignity on Friday, June 18, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. as the school bell rang Randy lost his most courageous battle at his home. Gently eased from this world to a better place holding hands with those he loved the most to be greeted by his predeceased grandparents, Engstrom and Lindgren. Left in this world to miss Randy will be the "love of his life" Susan; his children, Michael, Megan; and stepsons, Jesse and Tyler of Winnipeg; as well Randy's parents, Webb and Laura; brother David (Carole), nephews, Mark and Jeff all of Kenora; many wonderful uncles and aunts and cousins of Minneapolis, Calgary, Kenora and Winnipeg. Randy was a devoted school teacher at St. John's High School, where he spent many years as Department Head of the Industrial Arts program and most recently teaching in Special Education. At the time of his diagnoses he was working toward his Post Baccalaureate at the University of Manitoba. Randy loved to learn as much as he loved to teach. Randy was an avid golfer and a member for many years at St. Boniface Golf Club. He had a beautiful swing and was known as "ERNIE ELS of St. B". Randy was a passionate and gifted woodworker. Evident in the home he built as well as many special projects for others. Randy was blessed with many good friendships because he was a good friend. His "sunshine" on cloudy days was his "Girlfriend" mother-in-law Jackie Harrison. We would like to thank Dr. Janice Mulder, Orit Weber, Myrna Brownlee, Caroline Hannah, as well as Kim, Tanis and our other HCAs and all our friends at St. John's High School, and our dear friends that continue their support through this journey. She was predeceased by her parents, Ada and Richard Graham; and her brothers, Walter, James and Les. Mary-Ellen is survived by her loving husband Jack, of 52 years; her son John; grandson Wayne; granddaughter Alicia; great-grandson Shay; nieces, Joyce, Trish and Nancy; nephew Alan; and great-nieces and nephews. Mary-Ellen worked in the secretarial pool at Great West Life up until her marriage to Jack in 1952. Family would like to thank the staff at the Concordia, Grace and St. Boniface Hospitals for the care shown to Mary-Ellen. JAMES HARASYM March 11, 1935 - June 16, 2004 After a short battle with cancer we've lost our loving father, husband and brother at the age of 69. Dad was surrounded by his family through his final days. Dad was a man who rarely left his farm in Okno where he could be found cutting grass, weeding, or working the farm land right up until recently. Dad will be dearly missed, he was always there for us, with advice, with love and his many years of experience to help us throughout our lives. James was predeceased by his father John in 1976; and just recently by his mother Stella in October of 2003. He is survived by his wife Valerie and his sons, James Jr. and Andy; daughter-in-law Rebecca; brother Gerald and his sister-in-law Valerie. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Okno Cemetery. We respectfully ask that in place of sending flowers that you make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society to help take care of his 12 orphaned dogs.
