MR. JAMES TURNER
1922-2009
MR. JAMES TURNER beloved husband of the late Mrs. Helen Miron Turner passed away in Lethbridge on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the age of 87 years.

Jim was born in Calgary in 1922 and moved to the Lethbridge area at the age of ten. In 1940 he joined the Canadian Armed Forces. He served in the Infantry, with the Essex Scottish for five years.

After the war he returned to Lethbridge, where he met and married Helen Miron in 1949. Jim worked in the construction industry, as a carpenter, for many years. After retirement he continued to pursue his lifelong interests in wood working, nature and music. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen and his brother-in-law Jack (Brenda) Miron in 2003, his sister Pauline (Frank) Tito in 1991, and his brother-in-law Frank in 1982.

He is survived by his children Bob (Debbie), Jim and Jean, his sister-in-law Brenda and his niece and nephew Vanessa and Brett.

Jim will be missed very much.

A viewing will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Sunday, December 8, 2009, from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M.

A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, on Monday, December 9, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Lois Punton officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 2211, Lethbridge, AB., T1J 4K7 if desired.

DOROTHY TOMLINSON
1927-2009
DOROTHY TOMLINSON, beloved wife of Robert, of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Monday, October 19, 2009 at the age of 81 years.

Besides her loving husband, she is survived by son Bryan (Barb) Tomlinson, daughter Sharon (Rick) Belanger, son Garry (Jill) Tomlinson, six grandchildren and five plus great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers; Roger, Jack, Ross and Mel and their families, and two sisters; Beth and Muriel and their families.

A private family service of remembrance will be held.

In memory of Dorothy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, #402, 740 – 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0N9.

WILLIAM “BILL” GARNET TOLLEY
1934 - 2009
WILLIAM “BILL” GARNET TOLLEY, beloved husband of Arlene Tolley of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Care Centre, on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at the age of 74 years.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children; Sandra Hagel of Lethbridge, AB., Brenda Persson (Steve Simpson) of Lethbridge, AB. and Greg (Alison) Tolley of Claresholm, AB, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He is also survived by his sister Buelah Long.

He was predeceased by his brother Ken Tolley and three grandchildren; Christopher Persson, William Persson and Jenna Hagel.

Bill was born in Innisfail, AB. in 1934 and attended school in Three Hills, AB. He married Arlene Odland in 1955. In the early 1960’s he began his trucking career, which took him from Lomond to Vauxhall in 1970, and to Taber in 1980 until his retirement in 1997.

In his spare time he enjoyed golfing and good card game with family and friends.

He retired in 1998 to Lethbridge, AB., where he resided until the time of his passing.

A service of remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., with Reverend Aldeen McKay officiating.

Flowers are acceptable or in memory of William Tolley, donations may be made to Parkinson’s Society of Southern Alberta, 1254-3 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0J9.

RALPH CALVIN TODD
2009
RALPH CALVIN TODD, passed away peacefully at home, on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the age of 66 years. He is survived by his special friend Helen, his mother Alice Todd of Lethbridge, AB., his brother Wayne Todd of Lethbridge, AB., his sisters Leone (John) Reurink of Lethbridge, AB. and Phyllis Peterson of Edmonton, AB., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Everett Todd, brothers Larry Todd and Jerry Todd, brother in law Jack Peterson and niece Shelley Deuschle. Ralph was a very well liked and loving person. He will be missed by his family and friends, and certainly by friends and co-workers at Readymade Centre. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. A Graveside service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW Cemetery, Scenic Drive & 11 Street South, Lethbridge, AB. on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Richard Brown officiating.

SKAKUM TOWNSEND (NEE BAINES)
1922 - 2009
VERNA SKAKUM TOWNSEND, formerly of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her daughter Ruth (Pete) Gronemeyer of Lethbridge and her sons Robert (Heather) Skakum of Lethbridge, Richard Skakum and Raymond Skakum both of Vancouver, BC. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Peter and Aaron Gronemeyer and Lindsey and Michelle Skakum all of Lethbridge, a nephew Max (Lorna) Baines of Lethbridge and a special niece Grace (Tom) Cockburn of Saanichton, BC. Verna was predeceased by her parents, Ethel and Charles Baines, brothers Ralph Baines of Cranbrook, BC and Max Baines Sr. of Lethbridge and nephew Douglas Baines of Vancouver, BC. Mom worked for many years at the front desk and office of the Marquis Hotel in Lethbridge before moving to Victoria where she continued working in the same position for the Sussex Hotel until her retirement. She was an accomplished pianist and violinist and a wiz at crossword puzzles. Mom was a gentle soul who was very private and independent, and was living on her own until her passing. A graveside service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW Cemetery, Lethbridge on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Jason Anderson officiating.

JOHN TONIN
2009
MR. GIOVANNI ALDO 'JOHN' TONIN, beloved husband of Mrs. Linda Tonin of Lethbridge, AB, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the age of 75 years. Besides his loving wife Linda, John is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Debbie (Bob) Haraga, son, Johnny, grandchildren Adam, Amanda, Austin. John is also survived by his brothers; Gino (Maria), Giovanna (Franco), Dario (Helen) as well as a sister, Fernanda (Len). He was predeceased by his parents Antonio & Orsolina, twin children Danelle & Jancarlo, brothers, Sergio& Luigio and a sister Marie. John was born in Europe but called Canada his home. As a young man he did many different jobs before finally building a successful chicken farm in Coaldale, AB with his brother, Dario. He was a physically fit man and was proud of his many accomplishments. He spent many seasons hunting with his close friends and his son. John was happiest when playing the accordion, camping in the Rocky Mountains and playing with his dogs. He had a special love for all kind of birds and all animals. His award winning garden and beautiful fountains gave him much joy and relaxation. He documented his life experiences through many videos and photographs. He spoke fondly of the love of his wife Linda, daughter Debbie, his son Johnny and all his grandchildren; Adam, Amanda and Austin. He was always a gentleman, a caring husband, father, grandfather and friends to many. He will always be remembered as a unique individual who made many memorable impressions on those he encountered through his travels. He had friends everywhere he went and will be deeply missed by all. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.. JASON TOLLEY
1987 - 2009
JASON ANDREW TOLLEY beloved son of Kevan and Colleen Tolley passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the age of 21 years. Jason was born on May 15, 1987 in Blairmore, AB. Jason loved the mountains and spent many hours skiing and hiking in the Crowsnest Pass. He was very athletically inclined and excelled at baseball and basketball. Jason moved to Lethbridge in 1997 where he received the rest of his education, graduating from Catholic Central High School. In his free time he enjoyed skate boarding, rollerblading and weight training. Jason had numerous friends and was considered to be the life of the party. He will always be remembered for his gentle nature and selfless acts of kindness. Jason is survived by his loving parents Kevan and Colleen Tolley; brothers Adam (Melissa) Tolley, Jeff Tolley; special nephews Ethan and Brady and numerous friends and relatives. A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. HELEN TENDLER
2009
MARIE 'HELEN' TENDLER, beloved wife of John Tendler, of Lethbridge, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, June 19, 2009 at the age of 75 years. Helen was born and raised in Pincher Creek, AB. On June 9th, 1956 she married John Tendler with whom she shared 53 wonderful years. Helen was generous, caring and fun loving. She loved people, especially her family and friends. Helen was an active member of her community, dividing her time between volunteering and church activities. As well Helen enjoyed travelling, camping and no matter how busy her schedule was could always find time for bingo. Helen will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Besides her husband John, she will be lovingly remembered by her 4 children - Cathy Hastie (Gary Desbiens) of Pincher Creek, Susan (Norm) Kerr of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Robert Tendler of Lethbridge and Joanne Tendler of Lethbridge; her 3 grandchildren - Tanya Hastie, Christopher Kerr and Rachel Kerr; 2 brothers - Joe Desbiens of Pincher Creek and Alfred (Mary) Desbiens of Lillooet, BC; her sister - Annie (Bernard) Hoffman of Pincher Creek; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Xavier & Anna and one brother; Francis 'Scotty' Desbiens. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 - 13th Street North, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Tim Boyle, Celebrant. Private family interment will take place in Mountain View Cemetery. In memory of Helen, donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S. Box 570, 1441 Aviation Avenue Park NE.
