JILL ROWE

August 23, 2004

JILL LOREE ROWE August 16, 1958 - August 21, 2004 After a lengthy illness with ALS, Jill left this world to be promoted to Guardian Angel to lovingly watch over all those she holds so dear. Jill is survived by her three precious children, Monte, Dustie and Riki; and by her children's father Brian Rodeck; her parents and her three brothers and families. Supportive during these difficult years were Jill's many friends and former coworkers. Jill, along with family and friends would like to thank home care for their excellent care. A special thank you to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Ward for the kindness and patience they bestowed on Jill during her stay with them. Grace Hospice was a great relief for Jill and many thanks to their wonderful staff for making her feel like she was home to stay. Jill graduated from Oak Park High School in 1976, then from the University of Manitoba, School of Social Work. Jill held several employment positions both prior to and following her degree. She taught swimming lessons at the Sargent Park Pool while attending university. Following graduation Jill sought employment at Villa Rosa, St. Amant Centre, Samuel Burland School and finally her greatest passion, with Winnipeg Child and Family Services. Jill spent the majority of her adult life as "mom", being home and caring for her three "SHINING STARS" who were the centre of her universe. She enjoyed many activities and field trips with her children in their early years. The children never lacked for their mom. When Jill wasn't taking her children to everything Winnipeg had to offer she was volunteering as her boys "Beaver" leader, her daughter's Brownie leader and attending every sporting event they were interested in. Jill's hopes for her children have always included love, health, happiness, independence and success in whatever direction life's path led them. She was always so very proud of all their hard work and accomplishments. TO MY CHILDREN Be weak for awhile if you must Let the tears come of what should have been... Be as proud of yourselves as I am of you Be as strong as I know you can be Go on with your lives with determination and strength Be the best that I know you can be... Time passes quickly, life is so short... We'll soon be together..you'll see Feel my arms around you always... And believe you are truly loved. Special thanks to WCFS for the benefit social held in Jill's honour which generously provided her lift chair, walker, electric wheelchair and family Orlando trip. Thanks especially to all her special friends for all of their support, encouragement, love, kindness and concern during Jill's difficult life journey.
