FRANCIS (FRANK) DAVID MacGREGOR With great sorrow, we announce that on September 4, 2004, Francis (Frank) David MacGregor passed away peacefully at Peach Arch Hospital. He is survived by Vivian, his wife of over 60 years; and his three children and their spouses, Gary and Linda, Chris and Liz, and May Jean and Kevin. Frank was born
on May 20, 1920, in Winnipeg, MB. It was there that he met and married the first and only love of his life, Eva Vivian Akins. Frank enlisted into the Canadian Army Pay Corp at the age of 19 where he rose to the rank of Captain. During his 25 year tour of service, he travelled extensively throughout Canada and Europe. After retiring from the service, Frank went on to work for the real estate firm of Akins and Wallace. Upon completion of night school, he received his certification from the Appraisal Institute of Canada and began work as an appraiser for the Province of Manitoba. In 1979, he and Vivian moved to Tsawwassen where they could be closer to family. Frank was an avid gardener and was renowned for his beefsteak tomatoes. He loved to play golf and for many years belonged to the Breezy Bend Golf Club in Winnipeg and to the Beach Grove Golf Club in South Delta. Frank was the original Mr. Fixit. He spent countless hours helping his family and his many friends with their home projects. Frank shared in the enjoyment of watching his grandchildren grow up and marry - Andrea to Trevor and Steven to Cherise. He was a devoted great-grandfather to Roshod, Dominic, Cameron, Mackenzie, and Kayla. He thought himself a truly blessed man. His family held a sharing of loving memories on Tuesday, September 7, at Victory Memorial Park Cemetery in White Rock. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to the charity of your choice.

JEAN PATRICIA MacKENZIE (nee FISHER) 1905 - 2004 Peacefully, on September 6, 2004, at Poseidon Care Centre, Jean MacKenzie passed away in her 100th year, surrounded by family. Predeceased by her loving husband Bill in 1967 and sister Mae in 1990, Jean was mother to Evan (Irene) and Mary (Bill) Matthews; grandmother to, John (Jill), Brent (Lindsay), David and Sandra, great-grandmother to Kyle, Luke and Duncan. For many years Jean lived across the street from Westworth United Church where she was an active member. For two decades she assisted with the 'Explorer' girls program. She was also a volunteer at Misericordia Hospital for 25 years. Jean enjoyed bowling, playing scrabble, bridge and solving the daily Jumble. In her earlier years, Jean golfed extensively at Southwood Golf and Country Club with the women's "niners". Our mom loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She followed their lives and careers with much pride. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Poseidon Care Centre for their care over the last four years and especially for their gentleness and compassion at the end. Cremation has taken place. FRED G. MASON 1919 - 2004 Fred G. Mason (Freddie) peacefully passed away at the Carman Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 6, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife Esther; daughters, Gwen (Gerry), Jill (Ken); sister Edna; and grandchildren, Curtis, Julie, Suzanne; and five stepchildren. He proudly served in the Second World War in Sicily, Holland, Italy and England. Retiring after many years at Bristol Aero, he enjoyed wintering in Texas, summers in Carman, and visiting his mates at the legion. Fred was a warm hearted and loving man who will leave his family with heavy hearts but wonderful memories. Funeral service will be held from Doyle's Funeral Chapel in Carman on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with lunch following at the Ladies Auxiliary Hall. MICHAEL FRANK MONASTERSKI Suddenly on September 5, 2004 at age 69, surrounded by his family and after a courageous battle with diabetes.. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years Adele (nee Prystupa); daughter Gloria (Tony) and their sons, Christopher, Joshua Lynch; son Terry (Darlene) and their daughters, Jenessa, Jennifer; son Darryl (Giselle); daughter Angela (Clint) and their daughter Julianne Dzuba. He also leaves to mourn sister Josephine (Hugh) Winter, numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Mike was born
in Winnipeg on May 28, 1935. He married Adele on July 28, 1956 in Winnipeg and raised four children on the family farm. Mike loved baseball, curling and hunting with great passion and later loved being an umpire for many baseball games all over Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents Martin in 1952 and Julia (Dziadyk) in 1970. The family would also like to thank the nurses and Dr. Pillay at the Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon and also to all the family, friends and neighbours that showed their support during this difficult time. CECIL DRUMMOND MULDREW (1923 - 2004) Peacefully on September 6, 2004 at the Victoria Hospital. Cec is survived by his beloved wife Margaret; sons, Dennis and Lawrence (Gail); and daughter Betty (Hank) Lodewyks; grandchildren, Colleen, Janet, Michael, Paul, Dawn, Nicole (Mike), Leanne; brothers, Jim (Gwen), Milton (Joanne), Fraser (Marion), Donald (Pat); sister Lucile (John). Cec was predeceased by his first wife Eva in 1984. Cecil was born
June 30, 1923 to Alfred and Jessie Muldrew. He followed his parents' profession of teaching and graduated from Manitoba Normal School in 1941. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force the same year and was stationed in India during the war. After the war Cec married Eva, returned to school and acquired his degrees in Science and Education. He and Eva raised three children as he pursued his career in teaching that lasted 34 years. While teaching he was secretary of the Winnipeg Teacher's Association and president of both the Science Teacher's Association and the Outdoor Education Association. He was an initiator of the Manitoba Science Fairs. During a couple of leaves he worked at the Curriculum Branch on a new science curriculum and at the Faculty of Education teaching new teachers. At age 40 he became a school principal, a position he held at several Winnipeg schools for almost 20 years. As a principal Cec was involved in many activities. He was on the Board of Regents for University of Winnipeg, chairman of his Scouting District and on the board of the Manitoba Division of the Canadian Red Cross. He promoted the United Nations and UNICEF programs in the schools and was the teacher representative for the United Way. After retirement Cec was able to give more time to his many organizations. In 1994 he received the Pioneer Award for 50 years of volunteer service for the NDP. As the president of the World Federalist Movement Cec produced and hosted a community TV program called "For A Better World". In 1995 he received a Global Citizenship Award on the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations. Cec was a member of (VANA) Veterans Against Nuclear Arms for 20 years, and was the National Editor of their newsletter. He received the Peace Award from Project Peacemakers in 1998, and was awarded the YMCA Peacemaker of the Year Award in 1999. In 1996 Cec started a Humanist Group in Winnipeg. He was active in the Winnipeg Chapter of the Council of Canadians and was on the founding board of the Low Income Intermediary Project. Cec was active in the Unitarian Church for 25 years as financial secretary and board member of Canadian Unitarian's for Social Justice. At the age of 79 Cec married long time friend Margaret Maier who shared in his many interests. Cec and his family grew up in Winnipeg and spent summers at their cottage in Victoria Beach. Throughout his life, at his cottage Cec was able to relax and spend time with family and friends. His strong environmental beliefs, his love of the outdoors and his love for Victoria Beach prompted him, through his participation with the Manitoba Model Forest, to plant and care for an orchard on the Old Victoria Beach Railway. Cec will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2004 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 603 Wellington Cres. with Rev. MANUEL NEREU Peacefully on September 7, 2004 at Fred Douglas Lodge, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers, surrounded by his family, Manuel passed away at the age of 92 years. Left to mourn his passing is wife Emilia, son Joaquim, Gomes (Rosa), daughter Maria Helena Rodrigues (Manuel), grandchildren Jorge, Helen (John), Carmen, Michael (Delia), Marisa and seven great-grandchildren. CLEMENT P. NIVON passed away on September 5, 2004 at the Linwood P.C.H. in Edmonton at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his wife Robin, several years ago and did not have any children. He was predeceased by his brother Marcel; sisters, Marie, Illian and Josephine. He is survived by cousins, Noel and Albert Cantin; nieces and nephews, Raymond, Gilles, Odile, Denise, Clement, Lucille, Elaine, Denise and Alice-Ann. Clement was born
at Somerset, MB. When his parents passed away he and his two sisters moved to McCreary in 1933 to live with his mother's sister and they became part of the Cantin family. While attending school at McCreary, Clement joined the Fort Garry Horse Reserve. When war broke out in 1939 he enlisted with many other young men from that area and trained as a tank commander. He landed in Normandy on D-Day going through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany to the end of the war. His post war occupation was as a carpenter at McCreary and he subsequently moved to Edmonton and was the maintenance carpenter at the University. During his career and following his retirement Clement was very active in the Royal Canadian Legion at McCreary and then in Edmonton. For many years Clement made annual visits to McCreary to be with relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held in Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Edmonton on Thursday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m.

VARISTE (VIC) NOLEN It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Vic on Monday, September 6, 2004 at the Riverview Health Care Centre at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife Mary, five children, brother Morris as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, sons, granddaughter and great-granddaughter. Vic was a retired journeyman in sheet metal who kept his days busy repairing air tools and stripping copper. Vic's outer shell was only a cover for his very kind heart and young spirit. He will be missed by all. We thank the staff of Riverview Health Care Centre for their care, support and kindness. PRESTON JON NOVAK Preston Jon Novak passed away suddenly in Calgary on Friday, August 27, 2004 as a result of being hit by a drunk driver. Preston was born
August 26, 1976 in Winnipeg. He took his schooling at Heritage, Bruce Junior High, Silver Heights, graduating from Sturgeon Creek Collegiate. During his early years he was involved with bowling, soccer and baseball. We remember many days when Preston and his friends were out in the backyard building bike ramps and musical instruments out of scraps of wood we had in the garage. He was always busy doing something. He enjoyed going to visit Grandpa and Grandma Olson on the farm in Saskatchewan where he and his brother could build forts, ride tractors and ski-do. As he got older he would help his Grandma Novak in the catering business. Preston attended church and Sunday School at Grant Memorial Church in Winnipeg. Each summer he attended Bird River Bible Camp where , at the age of nine, he accepted Jesus into his heart. Preston's first job was at McDonalds where he got a plaque for employee of the month. During the last couple of summers in high school, he went tree-planting in British Columbia. His love for the mountains and snowboarding brought him to live in Banff for a couple of years and then out to Kelowna for a couple of years. We moved to Brampton, ON in 1999 and the following year Preston came to live with us while he worked and saved money. In October of 2001 he wanted more adventure, so off he went, by himself, to Thailand and Nepal for four months. Upon returning to Brampton, he decided he had had enough of Brampton and moved to Calgary. He got a job with Lifestyle Holdings and travelled across Canada setting up Mark's Work Warehouse Stores. Last January he decided to take carpentry at S.A.I.T. he was at the top of his class. The day after he completed his exam, he was hired by Triple Crown Homes in Calgary as an apprentice carpenter, where he worked until his death. Preston was always ready and willing to help anyone. He had a very kind and generous heart. He accentuated the positives and minimized the negatives. His friends and family meant a lot to him. Whatever he did, he did it to the best of his ability. Memories of Preston will be cherished forever by his parents, George and Donna Novak; and brother Wade; his grandpa Harvey Olson of Wadena, SK; his grandma Anne Novak of Winnipeg; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and many, many, friends. Preston was predeceased by his baby sister April Joy in 1981, his grandma Alice Olson in 1993 and grandpa Walter Novak in 1999. A memorial service was held Sunday, August 29 in Calgary and the funeral and Burial were held in Wadena, SK, on Friday, September 3. Tompkins Funeral Home of Wadena was in charge of arrangements. LEONORA CARBONEL ORILLO Peacefully, on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at her home, Leonora Orillo passed away at the age of 93 years. Leonora will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Eufrocina (Cornelio) Ramos of the Philippines, and Lolita (Librado) Martin of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Alexander, Frederick (Editha), Milton and Evelyn (Alfonso) Go of the Philippines, and Abby Lyn, Anna Liza, and Allan Lynol of Winnipeg; and great-grandchildren, Eileen Ann, Ellen Fay, Eleanor Kay, and Jean of the Philippines, and Isiah and Avery of Winnipeg; and brothers, Romulo and Jose Carbonel. She was predeceased by her husband Luis; daughters, Patrocinia and Sabina; sisters, Adelina and Smenia; and grandson Anthony Lou. Leonora was born
April 17, 1911 in Pangasinan, Philippines. Lola was married November 16, 1931, and had four children. In the Philippines she farmed along side her husband. She immigrated to Canada on September 17, 1977. Lola has touched many hearts and those who were in her presence, always felt loved. Lola devoted her time to her family in Canada and the Philippines. She was known for her infectious smile, generous heart, and unconditional love. She always had a listening ear and shared her wisdom. For this we will be forever humbled and grateful. CHRISTINA EVELYN RAWLUK (nee SALISBURY) On Sunday, September 5, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Christina passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at the age of 56 years. Christina was born
in Kentville, NS. In 1950, the family moved to Montreal where Christina received her formal education. She received her BA at Sir George William University. Then she went to McDonald Teacher College and received her Teaching Degree. She taught in Montreal schools and the School For The Blind. Later she came to Winnipeg and continued in the educational field. Christina had many interests. She enjoyed various crafts and attended many craft sales in and around Winnipeg. She loved to curl, play bridge and many other games. Christina will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her last words to all who visited her were "I Love You". She leaves to mourn her daughter Christy Lynn; her mom and dad, Edith and Harry Salisbury; aunt Hedwig Redlick; Bill and Cheryl Redlick; John and Margaret Redlick; Fraser and Ainsley; as well as Christy Lynn's father Roman Rawluk. She was predeceased by her uncle Otto Fitz and her cousin Pauline Redlick. In accordance with Christina's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. David Cornish presiding. A private family interment will be held in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens in the family plot. RAOUL (RALPH) ROMEO SARRASIN Peacefully, on Sunday, September 5, 2004, our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Raoul joined his beloved Katherine in the house of our Lord. RUDOLPH SCHLAMB On Sunday, September 5, 2004, at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, Rudy passed away at the age of 76 years. Predeceased by his father and his sister; he is survived by his mother, niece, nephews, and grand-nephews. Rudy was employed by Eaton's and then the Government of Manitoba as an upholsterer. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed his retirement on his farm north of Stonewall with his two dogs Buster and Dooley. In compliance with Rudy's wishes, a private family funeral service will be held. Our family wishes to thank the staff of the Seven Oaks Palliative Care Unit.
