JOAN BUICK

September 14, 2004

JOAN ANN BUICK (nee CIRKA) 1926 - 2004 Peacefully on September 10, 2004, our courageous and precious mom slipped away to join her beloved husband Tommy, in heaven. Mom was born icon in Horodnycha, Husiatyn, Poland and immigrated to Canada with her parents, Michael and Mary Cirka, in 1927. She was predeceased by her husband Tommy; and her father and mother, Michael and Mary Cirka; and stepfather Nichola Kyryliw. She attended school in the Carlorie, MB area and was a very bright student. Due to the tragic accident that took Mom's dad when she was 13, mom had to quit school at 14 and move to Winnipeg with her mother to earn a living. Mom always regretted not finishing high school and at 52 years of age went to Red River College and completed a business course and received her high school diploma. We were all so proud of her accomplishment. Mom's career spanned 45 years as a skilled fur operator. Mom's reputation was well known throughout Winnipeg with furriers as she excelled in delicate sewing. She made her own mink coat as one of her last projects before retiring in 1987. Mom loved her family unconditionally and leaves to mourn her passing, daughters, Beverlee (Carl), Gayle (Greg); son Rodney; grandsons, Scotty, Joshua, Jordan, Quin; and granddaughter Ainslee. Mom also leaves behind two great-granddaughters, Shey and Ashtyn. We would be remiss if we didn't mention that our mom was a fabulous cook. She could turn anything into a banquet. We will never forget Mom the many holy Christmas Eve and Easter dinners you lovingly prepared for us. Your paskas were as light as air and your gravies have never been duplicated. Mom, what will we do without you? You were such an inspiration to us as we saw your illness strip you of your speech, hearing and strength. You always remained elegant and dignified. Everyone who knew our mom commented on her beautiful disposition, crystal blue eyes and warm smile. We will so miss your strong presence Mom, and you will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place and at Mom's request, a private graveside service for immediate family will be held at a later date.
