MILDRED SILVESTER

September 25, 2004

MILDRED ELIZABETH ANN SILVESTER (nee CLARK) With the deepest sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mildred Silvester, at Deer Lode Centre 6th floor East. The Lord took her home on Thursday, September 23, 2004, and she no longer suffers the pains of her earthly body. She is at peace now. Mildred has gone to be with her parents, George and Elizabeth Clark; her brother Randle Clark; her brother-in-law Ernie Fix; her nephew Georgie Fix; and her first born icon son Sidney, whom she missed dearly. Left to mourn and cherish her life are her husband of 55 years, Thomas; her daughter Donna Harrison; her sons, Greg (Jan) and Hal (Shirley); her 12 grandchildren, Sherianne Harrison, Melanie (Ron) Meilleur, Eric (partner Renee), Ambber (partner Ryan), Wayne, Gordon, Amanda, Samantha, Andrew, Karl, Hollie and Kira; her six great-grandchildren (particularly Thomas and Alia who knew their Nana was special); and her sisters, Gayle Fix and Faye (Jim) Wagner. Mum was born icon on July 10, 1929 in Winnipeg. Her family moved to St. John, New Brunswick for a period of time. They returned to Winnipeg when Mum was still young. She attended Daniel MacIntyre, where she made many lifelong friends, including Mildred Fierce, Shirley Williams and Lillian Tomasson. Mum was very active in the community. She was a member of the IODE, Scouts Canada and the BP Guild, IOF, and Winnipeg Wandering Wheels RV Club. Mum's career was her family. She married the love of her life, Thomas, on December 31, 1948. They raised their four children together; but, Mum was always the one we turned to in times of trouble. She was always there with love and support no matter what kind of mess we got into. She gave that same love and support as Grandma, too. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was the first to brag about their accomplishments. She was well on her way to lovingly spoiling her great-grandchildren. As an expression sympathy, if friends wish, donations may be made in Mildred's name to the Canadian Diabetes. Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8. Mum's body has been cremated and a service in celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, September 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. "Music notes playing...it is striking the way ... playing for me now" Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.

ANNE TECKLENBURG

September 25, 2004

ANNE TECKLENBURG It is with deep sadness that the family of Anne Tecklenburg announce her sudden passing on September 21, 2004, at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Walter; her daughter Louise Maciejkow (Tim); her grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy and Sarah, who were the love of her life. She will also be terribly missed by her honourary family, Catharine Moir, Neil Charnock, Lauren and Hannah and innumerable dear friends. She leaves behind her cherished pets, Tessa, Davina, Lucky, Pixie, Banjo and Sulu. Anne was born icon in Epson, Surrey, England and immigrated to Canada in 1955. Anne married Walter in Kingston, ON in 1957. They moved to Manitoba and built their dream home in the R.M. of Springfield to raise Louise in a more rural setting. Anne had a tremendous love and talent caring for animals and their farm became a refuge for orphaned zoo babies, horses, donkeys, goats, dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits and birds to name but a few. Anne was a very unique individual, a lady of great presence and stature. She had an "aura' about her and lit up any room she entered. Anne was a great conversationalist and would talk with anybody and everybody from all walks of life. Her wit and charm endeared her to all that she met. Anne had many talents but her first and foremost role in life was that of being a care giver. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her overwhelming generosity and care giving was her trade mark that will be forever remembered by those that knew her. The family wishes to extend heartfelt and sincere appreciation to Dr. Dennis Caners and his staff for many years of excellent medical and personal care. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy., followed by interment at Sunnyside Cemetery, off of Garven Road. NICHOLAS TODORUK

September 25, 2004

NICHOLAS (MYKOLA) TODORUK Following a heroic battle with cancer, Nicholas (Mykola) Todoruk, aged 72, passed peacefully into the loving arms of God on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 supported by the love and care of his family in his own home. Words cannot adequately describe how much Nick will be missed by family and close friends. Born in Arborg, MB on March 7, 1932 Nick left "the farm" at age 16 to work in a variety of positions as cook, catapiller operator, mechanic and welder in several communities throughout Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He married Barbara Durrant on June 21, 1958 and settled back in Arborg where they raised their family. Nick was a gifted welder and mechanic who took pride in his work and although he retired in 1997 others still sought him out for his exceptional work, for advice, or for assistance with a mechanical or welding problem. Nick was a very gentle person who always put the needs of his family before his own. Family was his passion and in fact Nick's greatest pleasure was when his family was all together in the home he built for them on "the farm". He ensured that everyone in his immediate and extended family always felt loved and supported. Nick was a kind, generous, strong person who in his quiet way taught those around him to treasure simplicity. The simplicity of family life, the simplicity of cherishing each other and the simplicity of looking after the land. "Look after the land and you will be greatly rewarded." Everything was recycled, reused or repaired and as a result he created a sustainable farmland long before society at large became aware of the need to look after our environment. Gardening was another passion. Plants were nurtured along from seedling to harvest with the greatest care. Whether it was vegetables, fruit, or his rose garden, he took great delight in sharing the bounty and the beauty. Profoundly saddened by Nick's loss are his son David (Darlene) Todoruk; daughter Sharon (Michael) Campbell and daughter Michelle (Gerry) Orchard. He will be missed most of all by his grandchildren, Bryanne and Harrison Todoruk, who truly were the light of his life. Also saddened by his loss are sisters, Lena Todoruk, Pearl Lisowick and Pauline Paterson; brothers-in-law, Robert (Margie) Durrant and Donald Durrant (Rita Shachtay) and numerous other relatives, nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara in June 2002; his parents, Dora and Peter Todoruk; two infant sisters; sisters, Mary Dachuk and Nellie Todoruk; uncles, John Knehinicki and Mike Klym and brothers-in-law, Harry Dachuk and Bill Paterson. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Ernst Greyvenstein, Shannon Pyziak, Georgina Ball and to the physicians and staff who cared for Nick at the Arborg and District Health Centre. A special thank you to Lenore and Heather for their kindness, care and compassion in assisting Nick in his return back home from hospital. Funeral services will be held at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church in Arborg, MB on Tuesday, September 28 at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Nick to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Ardal Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to: ARBORG (MACKENZIE) FUNERAL HOME.
