JEFFREY (JEFF) PAUL GIBSON It is with deep regret that we announce the tragic death of Jeffrey on Friday, October 8, 2004 at the age of 37 years. Remaining to cherish his memory are his parents, Barbara Krahn (Jake) and Dave Gibson; Nicole Gibson (nee Scott); their three sons, Jesse, Dustin and Matthew Gibson; daughter Savannah; brother Dean (Jacqueline) of New Westminster, BC; Grandma Eileen Gray of Brandon, MB; Grandpa Robert Gray of Duncan, BC; father-in-law Tom Scott (Lucille); brother-in-law Jamie Scott, sister-in-law Cassandra Scott; niece and nephew, Rachel and Cameron; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jeff was predeceased by his grandparents, Hugh and Stella Gibson and his mother-in-law Carol Scott. Jeff was born icon in Winnipeg, MB and when he was in his 5th grade, the family moved to Beausejour, MB. There he remained until his teens. He moved to Winnipeg where he met Nicole, they settled down and had a family. Jeff took being a father very seriously and enjoyed his time with his children. He attended South Winnipeg Tech, which began his career as an Industrial Electrician. After graduation, he worked with P4 Electric until 2002 and was currently employed with G. Mallin Electric. Being an electrician was something he loved and excelled in. He was a loving father and was loved by his children, family and friends. Jeff will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. He enjoyed life, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Jeff was so easy going and fun to be around that everyone who met him could not help but like him. His sparkling eyes could melt anyone's heart. Jeff's funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Ave. Special thanks to Carla Skynner, District 14 Police Dept.; and Sargeant Jim Thiessen and his unit for their support and assistance. Our family would also like to thank Dean Love, Martin Albietz and Doug Semchuk, Jeff's very good longtime friends, who had always been there for him and now during this time of crisis are there for Nicole and their boys. GORDON JOHN HARRISON March 11, 1922 - October 10, 2004 Gordon quietly passed away on Sunday morning at the Carman Memorial Hospital. Born near Herbert, SK, Gordon moved east to Manitoba where he met and married Eileen Roberts, his cherished wife of 58 years. Together they farmed and raised three children, Cliff (Janice), Bev (Doug Anseeuw) and Cheryl (Wayne McPherson). He is fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Deanna (Bruce), Jodi, Gavin, Marni (Darren), Garth, Blaine, Jason, Roberta, Ellen, Andrew; great-grandchildren, Brick and Brice; sisters, Irene, Vera, Pat (Al); brothers, Bob (Lorene), Dick, Murray (Merle); many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Pearl Harrison; brother Fred; and sister Gwen. Throughout his entire life he always enjoyed outside activities, whether it be calving season, harvest, yard work, or watching his grandchildren play hockey or show cattle. Gordon cared compassionately for the needs of others. His love of community, strong commitment to family and appreciation for life is the legacy he leaves behind. The family would like to extend their appreciation to those who visited and phoned Gordon during his brief stay in the hospital. Thank you to the staff of the Carman Memorial Hospital for their care and the staff at the Boyne Lodge for making him feel at home whenever he visited Eileen. GEMIMA HENDERSON On Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at the George M. Guimond Personal Care Home, Fort Alexander, MB, Gemima Henderson passed away after a lengthy illness. She was born icon on December 17, 1928 and was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Sophia Henderson as well as her 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister Marion Spence as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were all special to her. Gemima resided at the George M. Guimond Personal Care Home since April of 1989. She touched many hearts with the staff who took care of her. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. S. Ijaz and to the nurses and staff who took very good care of her. Wake services will be held beginning Wednesday evening, at the Christ Church Anglican, Fort Alexander. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m. also from the Church with Rev. VELMA ANNE ELIZABETH HILTON (nee BURNETT) At the Grace Hospital, on October 10, 2004, in her 93rd year, Velma slipped gently and peacefully into God's eternal rest and care. She was born icon on March 13, 1912, to Anne and Gordon Burnett. Velma was predeceased by her husband Lloyd (1981); by her parents; and by her three siblings, sister Helen, brother Leslie and sister Isabel. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Barbara) in Winnipeg, and Gerald (Shirley) in New Brunswick; by seven grandchildren; and by 11 great-grandchildren. Velma's abiding faith was her anchor in life, it gave her great joy, and it sustained and comforted her in difficult times. She was active throughout her long life in the works of the Baptist Church of Canada, which honoured her with a Life Membership in the Baptist Women's League of Western Canada. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception and private family interment will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. GEORGINA (JEANNE) KOWERKO (nee THEIRMAN) Peacefully, on October 11, 2004 at Selkirk Hospital with her family by her side, Jeanne Kowerko, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 70 years old. Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband Clarence; her children, Bob, Kathy Groves (Bill), Blaine (Sheril), Randy, Loreen Lawrence (Maynard); grandchildren, Garret, Krystal, Olivia, Janelle, Ashley, Jeanne, Josie; great-grandson Blake; and her only sister Alma Schroffel. She was predeceased by her mother Ida Theirman (1963), father Robert Theirman (1981), daughter Georgina (1960) and grandson Sean (1986). Jeanne was born icon September 22, 1934 in Winnipeg. Most of her school years were spent in St. Joseph's Catholic School. She married Clarence in June 1953, and recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. In 1964 after building their dream home the family relocated to St. Andrews where they completed their family and raised their five children and granddaughter. Her main interest was her family, holidays were always special there was always enough food for at least 15 more people, at Christmas time it took her a month to decorate and bake the treats she passed down to us from her mother. Not only for her children but also for many nieces, nephews and friends she could be found on the morning of their wedding, completing the finishing touches on their custom ordered cakes. At least a half hour before mass on Sundays she could be found already seated silently praying and patiently waiting for her children. Jeanne was a member of the CWL and a "real" Knight's wife. The family would like to thank the following, the staff in the Intensive care unit of Concordia, the staff and doctors at Selkirk Hospital. Msgr. McCloskey and the parishioners of St. Theresa's for their prayers. Pallbearers will be her grandson Garret Groves, nephews Ed Schroffel, Mark Miller, Martin Miller, Murray Kowerko, and Rick Kowerko. Prayers will be held 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 14 at St. Theresa's Parish, 3597 Main St., Middlechurch, MB. A mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. Theresa's Parish on Friday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m. Msgr. L McCloskey as celebrant. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery. LEONARD J. (LEN) KRALL Leonard J. (Len) Krall passed away October 6, 2004, at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 65, ten days short of his 66th birthday. Len was born icon in Lestock, SK, and was raised in Winnipeg. Throughout his career he held several senior positions with multinational construction companies working on large projects which included construction of the world class Kananaskis Golf Course in Alberta and a Quebec dam project which incorporated a precedent setting design. His work took him to several provinces and he returned to make Winnipeg his home in 1988. Survived by his son James (Bonnie); daughter Kimberly; grandchildren, Cara, Jocelyn and Keeley; sister Sharon Ellert (Darel); and brothers, Bernie (Joanne), Don (Dawn) and Dale (Lorraine). He will be greatly missed by companion Anita Kreger. Heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the Health Sciences Centre, GD4 Ward for the care and support Len received. When Jordan was about five months old he used to crawl around like a crab, too small and so active. He used to dance around Grandma's house with his hands in the air, praising to "mama's" Christian tunes. Jordan waved at everyone he saw and said, "hi" or "HI." Every night before he went to bed he would say, "night, night." My love, my heart. My heart aches for you.....and always will. His brother Michael was his partner in crime, they would team up and trash the house after it was cleaned, boys will be boys. Your face full of laughter, your heart in your eyes, that's what I'll remember forever and all time. For two years we had you worth a lifetime of memories. You must have been too good because heaven wanted you back home. Goodbye my love, forever in our hearts. - Aunty Char.
