BJARNI GISLASON

October 20, 2004

BJARNI (BARNEY) KRISTINN GISLASON It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Dad, Afi, and Big Afi, after a hard struggle in the last few months, which ended peacefully on October 16, 2004 at the Arborg Hospital. Dad leaves to mourn his children, Raymond (Lucille), Arlene (Sam), Kristine (Ivan), and Robert; grandchildren, Mylinda, Richard, Craig, Susan, Derek, Bobby, Christopher, Shara, Neil, Jackie, Jen, Janine, and Kristinn; 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Nellie Johannson and Kristine Gislason. Dad was predeceased by his wife Stebba; his parents, all his brothers and sisters, and his grandson Tim. Dad was born icon in 1916 in Arnes, MB and later moved to Riverton with his parents and family. As a young boy, he started fishing with his dad Jon, and from then he went on to do various construction jobs as a dragline operator, working in many northern areas and around the Interlake. In 1937, he married the love of his life, Stebba, and they had 61 years together before Mom passed away. Dad was a faithful member of the A.A. group in Riverton and looked after all the meetings for many years, and made many friends along the way. He enjoyed fishing with his sons, gardening and visiting his sisters Runa and Magga, and also Leslee, while cruising around in his fancy black car! Dad looked after Mom for years at home, with the help of caregivers, and later in the hospital and care home. Thank you for that Dad! Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with Pastors Trudy Thorarinson and Neill Von Gunten officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at the Riverton Cemetery following the service with his grandchildren acting as honorary pallbearers. We would like to thank the staff at the Tudor House in Selkirk and the Arborg Personal Care Home for the wonderful care. We appreciate all your help. A special thanks to the nurses at the Arborg Hospital who were with us during Dad's final hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church or a charity of one's choice. Gotta Nott Elskan, Pabbi Min, and Afi Barney. GILBART FUNERAL HOME, SELKIRK in care of arrangements.

CHRISTOPHER GRAHAM

October 20, 2004

CHRISTOPHER PETER GRAHAM With great sadness we announce the accidental death, on October 15, 2004, at only 22 years old, of our beloved Christopher, son to Jan and Cam and big brother to Andrew. Christopher will be missed deeply by his grandparents, Denise Beley and Don and Vivien Graham; uncles and aunts, Dave and Marsha Graham, Blair and Carol Peacock, and Henry and Leslie Joling; cousins, Derek, Alex, Brooke, Dawn, Brianne, Monica, and Matthew; and his dearest friend Ashley and her parents Lynn and Paul Fulton, the Hanfords and the rest of her family who embraced Chris into their lives. Chris lived all his life in Fort Garry, graduating from Vincent Massey, making some great friends along the way. Chris touched our lives briefly but profoundly in many ways and to many different people some of whom we are just now finding out about for the first time with their kind words and thoughts. Chris loved the Graham family cottage and was driving to the lake when the accident happened so we know that he was on the road to his favourite place. With the cottage came his love for the life he shared there with his family and friends, the frogs and the turtles, and the old aluminum fishing boat. He was not so crazy about the mosquitoes and the horseflies, but man oh man did we have a whack of fly swatters to take care of that situation. Christopher was working at Inlet Equipment, and that was always a constant subject of conversation at the dinner table. We don't think there was a busier place to work! He was full of stories about his day at work, problem solving, customer service, and the interpersonal conversations that he had with his fellow employees and his Boss, Tony. Christopher took the good with the bad and solved all problems at work with his own brand of wisdom. He had all the answers, and that's for sure. That was Christopher, sure of himself, sure he was right, a true 22 year old. To your computer friends, who you networked with, day and night, we thank you for the world you lived in with him. We were never quite sure what he was up to but whenever we would look at the computer screen we knew it was well beyond our capabilities or understanding. He was truly happy and content whenever he was online or programming, often with a little smile on his face. We will miss you so much Christopher, Chris to all his friends, and we will hold you in our hearts forever. The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 21 at Mary, Mother of the Church at 85 Kirkbridge Dr. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM 1531 Pembina Hwy. 284-7500

October 20, 2004

WINNIFRED BURNETT "WINNIE" LAKE (nee CAMPBELL) Winnie passed through to be with her Maker on Friday morning, October 8, 2004 surrounded by her family at her home in Honeymoon Bay, BC. Born in Neepawa, MB on August 13, 1925, she grew up on the farm near McCreary, MB. As a young woman, she moved to Winnipeg, where she met and later married David Lake on August 2, 1952. Winnie and Dave were blessed with a daughter, Brenda. Winnie then found her calling as a home care attendant for Manitoba Home Care Services where she worked for thirty years. She also cherished her role of "Mom" to the many neighbourhood children, families and university students who called 751 Fleet Ave. their "home". Winnie's "United Nations of Fleet Avenue" produced many successful university graduates. 1985 was a year of mixed blessings for Winnie. She gained a son-in-law (Ian Morrison) in September and was widowed when she lost Dave in October. Winnie finally became a Gramma to Rhianon in 1999, which gave her good cause for her annual trips to Vancouver Island. Winnie fell ill in the fall of 2002, and decided to travel to B.C. for Christmas and medical treatment. Her diagnosis, admission to Cowichan Hospital, and treatment in the Cancer Clinic was swift, professional, and life saving! Winnie decided to sell her home in Winnipeg and in August 2003, she moved to Honeymoon Bay to be with her family. Winnie had almost two wonderful years in Honeymoon Bay and she cherished a recent visit from her friend, Arlene Wiley. Winnie leaves to mourn Brenda, Ian and Rhianon; her cousins in England; her many friends and family across Canada, the U.S., Jamaica, and the far East.
