DONALD MATHESON

October 20, 2004

DONALD FRASER MATHESON Peacefully, on the 16th of October, 2004 in Selkirk, our dear father went to join his beloved wife Lorrain in heaven. Forever remembered and loved by his family, Donna and Doug, Angus and Janice, Heather and Robert; grandchildren, Fraser and Patricia, Andrea, Kory, Robert and Lorrain-Marie. Donald was born icon in 1918 in Brooklyns to parents who had emigrated from Scotland to the majestic prairies. At an early age Don acquired an appreciation and enjoyment for the outdoors. It was this love of his country that compelled Don to volunteer for active service in the Canadian Air Force overseas, in 1940. He served to the end of the war after which he joined the Winnipeg Police Force following in the footsteps of his father. It was while directing traffic that a young attractive Eatons girl was directed into his life for the next 49 years. Don retired after 30 years with the Police Force and 11 years with the Provincial Sherriff's Department. Mom and Dad moved to Lac Du Bonnet where we all experienced fond memories and good times. A short time later they moved back to Transcona and of late to Selkirk, MB, where he made many new friends. All who knew Don found him to be an honest, caring and good natured soul. "ACHA `N DA THEARNAID" We would like to thank Selkirk General Hospital, home care and the residents and staff at Woodlands Court for their care and friendship. Please note a change of time. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 22 at the Transcona Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Selkirk & District General Hospital 100 Easton Dr., Box 5000 Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2 Attention: Carol Struch

LAWRENCE SIKORA

October 20, 2004

LAWRENCE SIKORA Peacefully, on Sunday, October 17, 2004, Lawrence Sikora, dearly beloved husband of Eileen passed away at the Beausejour Hospital at the age of 68 years. He was predeceased by his father Paul Sikora. Dad was first employed at the age of 16 for Paul Lavoie Construction for two years. Then he began his life long commitment to his farm. During these years, he was also employed by the R.M. of Lac du Bonnet as a grader operator for 18 years. For the next 33 years, he was employed by Agassiz School Division as a School Bus Driver - a job he dearly loved and took great pride in. Dad was a special part of all of our lives. You could always tell when he walked into the room. He was a big man with a big heart who loved and welcomed the company of family and friends and always did his best to make them comfortable. You could always count on him for his help or just a laugh. Sometimes he even played the accordion for us. He also loved playing cards - these times were always precious to him. Recently, he became involved in table top curling, floor curling and bowling games which he enjoyed very much. Dad always maintained a great interest in his farm which now lives on in his son. Even after moving to town, he had to "come for a spin just to check-up" to make sure everything was kept up to his standards. He always held a special place in his heart for those who constantly lent a hand at the farm as well as at home and especially during his recent illness. Dad had many "Pride and Joys" in his life, including his loving wife and children but his greatest was his two grandchildren with whom he shared a close and wonderful relationship with. They loved spending time together and the kids were always amazed by grandpa's wit and wisdom. They will forever keep his advice, humour and "funny sayings" in their hearts forever and already miss him more than words can say. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church, Lac du Bonnet, MB with Rev. Fr. Mirek Szynal the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his family and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. D.
