Mr. Engel, 48, died May 24, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a library assistant with the Fort Carson and city libraries.

Mr. Engel was born July 8, 1952, in Deadwood, S.D., to Frederic and Elsie M. (Doshan) Engel.

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Ethan; a cousin, Karen Atkinson of Colorado Springs; and many other cousins.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Chadbourn Gospel Mission, 402 S. Conejos St. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Services, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.

CAROLYN L. (EATON) KUHNS

Mrs. Kuhns, 58, died May 28, 2001, at a local care center after a long illness. She was a wife, mother and entrepreneur.

Mrs. Kuhns was born Aug. 26, 1942, in Colorado Springs to William and Mary (Pinello) Eaton. Her father is deceased. She was married June 6, 1961, to Robert M. Kuhns.

She is survived by her husband of Colorado Springs; a son, Robert N. of Colorado Springs; her mother of Fountain; a brother, William of Fort Collins; two sisters, Mary Jo of Fountain and Ellen of Colorado Springs; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A gathering will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at 415 Crater Road.

DANIEL MONTANO SOTO

Daniel, infant son of Daniel Montano and Juana Soto, died May 29, 2001, at a local hospital.

Daniel was born May 24, 2001, in Colorado Springs.

He is survived by his parents, and his grandparents, Augustine and Juana Montano and Tomas and Monica Soto.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2715 E. Pikes Peak Ave. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597, is handling arrangements.

INEZ G. (GUTTU) HEGG

Mrs. Hegg, 82, a former Colorado Springs, died May 28, 2001, in Denver. She was a retired LPN.

Mrs. Hegg was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Stady, N.D. She was married Nov. 24, 1938, to Svarre Hegg, who is deceased.

She is survived by two sons, Gahlyn of Colorado Springs and Lowell of Westminster; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2400 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. Olinger Funeral Home, Denver, (303) 771-4636, is handling arrangements.

RETIRED LT. COL. CLARENCE "GENE" EUGENE EVERSON

Lt. Col. Everson, 85, died May 29, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a hydrometeorologist for the Bureau of Reclamation. He served in the Air Force as a meteorologist for 23 years. He served in World War II and during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.

Lt. Col. Everson was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Stanton County, Neb., to Clarence and Mary Nancy Purdy Everson, who are deceased. He was married Aug. 19, 1941, to Alvera Anna Rabe.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Gene Jr. (Anne) of Colorado Springs, Gale (Susan) of Helena, Mont., and Glenn Everson and his fianc�e, Cheryl Samuel, both of Denver; two daughters, Kay Eileen (Jay) Winchester of Peyton and Sue Ellen (Tim) Pearson of Scio, Ore.; a sister, Maxine Blezek, of Reno, Nev.; many nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard; and a sister, Ethel.

A committal service, with military honors, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Rose Garden, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 846 E. Pikes Peak Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 846 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs 80903.

CONNIE PENDERGAST

Mrs. Pendergast, 54, died May 16, 2001, at her home in Colorado Springs after a short illness. She was a loan officer with Freedom Financial and a sales director with May Kay Cosmetics Inc.

Mrs. Pendergast was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Columbus, Ga., to Robert and Geneva (George) Adams, who are deceased. She was married Oct. 8, 1971, to Robert C. Pendergast.

She is survived by her husband; a stepson, Scott; two stepdaughters, Tracy Cross and Cristin Beck; a sister, Donna Prewitt; a brother-in-law, David Prewitt; a niece, Kristen Prewitt; and three grandchildren, Kylie, Kody and Trevor.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m Friday at Sunrise United Methodist Church, 2655 Briargate Blvd. Inurnment will be private. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. DR. DONALD D. "DON" MARBLE

Dr. Marble, 66, died May 22, 2001, from cancer at his residence in Colorado Springs. He was president of Pan American College, Cuenca Ecuador, professor of management and logistics, Colorado Technical University, engineer for Litton Industries and did research and development problem-solving for structured organization.

Dr. Marble was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Vancouver, Wash., to William Henry and Betty (Walker) Marble. Henry is deceased. He was married Aug. 8, 1981, to Judith "Judy" Helm.

He is survived by his wife; his mother; two sons, Mark of Castle Rock and Christopher of South Carolina; a daughter, Larissa of Phoenix; a stepson, John Deignan IV of Leon, France; a friend of the family, Zoila Toral de Abarca of Equador; a brother, Scott; three sisters, Dona, Carol and Dolly; and five grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be at a later date. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Services, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.

ERMA MOORE CRIPPEN

Mrs. Crippen, 91, died May 29, 2001, at a local care center. She retired from Carlsbad Public Schools, where she taught junior high for 20 years, having previously taught in Warren, Ark.

Mrs. Crippen was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Bonham, Texas, to H.P. and Iva M. (Alderson) Moore, who are deceased. She was married to Henry T. Crippen, who is deceased.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha Huff; a son-in-law, John Huff; and two grandsons, John and Mark. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Allen, Julian, Henry, George, John and Wilson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Burial will be at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, N.M.

DR. ROBERT W. "BOB" GLEASON

Dr. Gleason, 61, a Colorado Springs resident, died May 27, 2001, in Eagle. He was a periodontist. He retired as colonel from the Air Force after 20 years of service.

Dr. Gleason was born Sept. 1, 1939, in South Amherst, Ohio, to Richard W. and Thelma T. (Bryant) Gleason. His father is deceased. He was married July 14, 1962, to Dolores J. Poole.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Karen D. (Charles) Corbett and Linda K. (Casey) Bullock; his mother; and two grandsons, Jay Alan Bullock and Lee William Bullock. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard B.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, with a reception to follow, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2650 Parish View. Inurnment will be in Eagle. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling arrangements.

AFTON MILLS KARNS

Mrs. Karns, 89, a former Colorado Springs resident, died May 28, 2001, in Orem, Utah. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many organizations. She was a great cook, and many people around her benefited from her talent. She embroidered and quilted many things and gave them away to anyone who wanted them. She was a very selfless person, always going the extra mile.

Mrs. Karns was born Oct. 5, 1911, in Holden, Utah, to George Millburn and Mary Ann Hunter Mills, who are deceased. She was married July 21, 1950, to Harold Austin Karns, who is deceased.

She is survived by two daughters-in-law, Kathy Karns of California and Marva (Ron) Box of Orem; six grandchildren, Neldon Wayne (Janet) Karns of Ivins, Utah, David (LouAnn) Karns of Riverton, Utah, Brian Glen (Melisa) Karns of Orem, Becki (Brandon) Millet of Orem, Bradley Harold (Jamie) Karns of Orem and Burton Morgan (Heather) Karns of Orem; and 15 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Janet Johnson of Provo, Utah. She was preceded in death by two sons, Glen and Neldon; her siblings; a granddaughter, Brenda; and a niece, Ileen Farrer.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Cascade Chapel, Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home, 495 S. State St. Orem, (801) 225-1530. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.

CARL KENNETH OWENS

Mr. Owens, 69, died May 28, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He retired as a bus driver from Colorado Springs Transit. He retired as staff sergeant from the Air Force after 21 years of service.

Mr. Owens was born June 25, 1931, in Haysi, Va. He was married July 1979 to Geraldine Goldy.

He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, Jerry Arnett and J.R. Arnett; three stepdaughters, Sue Minich, Barbara Loth and Vicki Schutte; a brother, Harold; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary; and a brother, Garland.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., 475-8303. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Funeral Home "Chapel of Peace." Inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.

ANNA M. NEWMAN

Mrs. Newman, 65, a former Colorado Springs resident, died May 18, 2001, in Boise, Idaho, after a long- term illness.

Mrs. Newman was born Feb. 5, 1936, in Vohburg, Germany, to Anna and Michael Ruhfass, who are deceased. She was married June 10, 1963, to Billy J. Newman, who is deceased.

She is survived by a son, Billy M.; a daughter, Anita S. Nichols; a brother, Adolf Ruhfass; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery, 757 S. Santa Fe Ave., Fountain. Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. U.S. Highway 85/87, Fountain, 390-4906, is handling arrangements.

GOLDEN AMELIA STRUTHERS

Mrs. Struthers, 92, a former Colorado Springs resident, died May 26, 2001, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was a member of the First Christian Church since she was teen-ager. She was a retired Mountain States Telephone operator and had been president of Telephone Operators Association. She spent many years volunteering for Eisenhower Hospital and served as president of Eisenhower Volunteer Guild. She was also a rancher for more than 46 years.

Mrs. Struthers was born Oct. 19, 1908, in Batesville, Ark., to Benjamin Franklin and Julia Ann Osborn Huddleston, who are deceased. She was married March 7, 1930, in Colorado Springs, to Allen Struthers, who is deceased.

She is survived by a son, John, and his wife, Betty, of Idaho Falls; a daughter-in-law, Anne B. of Longmont; a sister, Ruby Dobbins of Loveland; many beloved nieces and nephews; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Joseph Allen Jr.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., 475-8303. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, 16 E. Platte Ave. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.

JAMES NEIL "JIM" PATTEE

Mr. Pattee, 41, died May 28, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a certified public accountant.

Mr. Pattee was born Feb. 11, 1960, in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Dr. Bruce and Lynn Pattee. He was married May 12, 1990, to Sharon Palatas.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Michael and Steven; a stepson, Shawn Williams; his parents; two brothers, Mark and Tom; and a sister, Anne DeVries.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Shove Chapel, 1010 N. Nevada Ave. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, 1000 S. 26th St. After the burial, friends are invited to join the family at High Valley Farms, 14 Alsace Way. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling arrangements.
