Donald L. Arnold
Feb. 23, 1936 - Aug. 4, 2000Donald L. Arnold of Johnstown, formerly of Boulder, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 64.

He was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Farnham, Neb., to Forrest John Arnold and Leah Stevens Arnold. He married Elfriede Roser in 1961. They divorced.

Mr. Arnold was raised in Boulder and moved in the 1960s. He lived in Greeley, Loveland and Johnstown.

He worked for Mountain Bell and AT&T; for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the Corvette Club and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, camping, golfing and skiing.

Survivors include a son, Michael John Arnold of Loveland; two daughters, Andrea Mai Lucero of Long Beach, Calif., and Angela Lydia Wyatt of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Steve Douglas of Herndon, Kan.; three sisters, Joy Hill of Dacono and Geraldine Morris and Carol Craig, both of Boulder; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ernest Warren; and brothers, Kenneth Wayne Arnold and Vern Eldon Arnold.

Services were held.

Contributions may be made to Julian Andre Wyatt's Educational Fund, in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, 1102 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO 80537.

Virginia B. Becker
Jan. 11, 1924 - Aug. 9, 2000

Virginia B. Becker of Longmont died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Boulder. She was 76.

She was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Wichita, Kan., to Harry Blake and Mary Crandall Blake. She married Floyd K. Becker on Oct. 2, 1945, in Wichita.

She graduated from East High School in Wichita. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

She moved to Longmont from Boulder in 1969.

Survivors include her husband of Longmont; a son, Steven Becker of Pine; two daughters, Karen Lian of Louisville and Mary Lynn Becker-Spector of Sherman Oaks, Calif; and nine grandchildren.

Private graveside services were held.

Contributions may be made to a memorial fund in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Barbara Defler Fahrenholtz
April 7, 1935 - Aug. 9, 2000

Barbara Defler Fahrenholtz of Lafayette died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Denver. She was 65.

She was born April 7, 1935, in Denver to Harold F. Defler and Margaret H. Williams Defler. She married Lon Parrish in Boulder County in 1950. They were divorced. She married Glen Boisseaux in 1966 in Denver. They were divorced. She married Ben Fahrenholtz in Denver in about 1971. They were divorced.

Ms. Fahrenholtz moved to Boulder County in 1944. She worked in retail sales for Wal-Mart. She was retired.

Survivors include her mother of Lafayette; a sister, Jackie Jordan of Longmont; a brother, Clark Defler of Indiana; two daughters, Kathleen Parrish and Trish Parrish, both of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Richard Parrish of Lafayette; twin sons, Garin Boisseaux of Lakewood and Kinsman Boisseaux of Littleton; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Monte Parrish.

A memorial service will be at 11 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Baseline, Lafayette.

Memorial contributions may be made to Margaret Williams, 406 E. Cleveland St., Lafayette, CO 80026.

Beth Ann McClain Nov. 29, 1954 - June 14, 2000

Beth Ann McClain of Longmont and formerly of Boulder died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Longmont United Hospital from complications of breast cancer. She was 45.

She was born Nov. 29, 1954, in Aurora to F. D. McClain and Lee Hicks Redfield.

Ms. McClain was a 23-year employee of IBM. At the time of her death she was a software program planner.

She moved to Longmont in 1962 from Aurora, lived in Boulder from 1973 to 1975 and returned to Longmont in 1975. She was a 1973 graduate of Longmont High School.

Survivors include her mother of Longmont; her father of Berthoud; two sisters, Sally McClain of Boulder and Dona McClain of Longmont; a brother, Fred McClain of Boulder; her stepfather, Carl Brent of Texas; three stepbrothers, David Brent, Michael Brent and Karl Brent, all of Denver; and a stepsister, Joslyn Brent of Denver.

She was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Ron Brent.

A celebration of life will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder, 5001 Pennsylvania Ave. Barbara Molfese will officiate.

Contributions may be made to breast cancer research, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley or a charity of the donor's choice, in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501-5440.

Christopher Sadowski 'Chris' Werner May 30, 1987 - June 16, 2000

Christopher Sadowski "Chris" Werner of Lafayette died Friday, June 16, 2000, in a traffic accident in Lafayette. He was 13.

He was born May 30, 1987, in Boulder to Paul H. Werner and Diane Sadowski Werner.

He recently completed seventh grade at Louisville Middle School.

He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Boulder and was a member of the Boulder Valley Lacrosse Association.

Survivors include his mother and father of Lafayette; his grandparents, Freda and Stanley Sadowski of Brookville, Fla., and Barbara and Robert Werner of Boulder.

Visitationwill be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, 1820 15th St.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, with the Rev. Don Meeks and James Candy officiating.

Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Youth Fund, 1820 15th St., Boulder, CO 80302.

Robert A. Aurand
Oct. 5, 1909 - June 12, 2000

Robert A. Aurand of Louisville died in Boulder on Monday, June 12, 2000. He was 90.

The son of Lora H. Aurand and Nellie Evelyn Adair, he was born Oct. 5, 1909, in Central City, Neb. He married Moira Lind on June 5, 1943, in Symington, Scotland.

He moved to the area in 1936 from Chapman, Neb. He was a restaurateur for 19 years and served as past president of the Colorado/Wyoming Restaurant Association.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, sports and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of Louisville; four sons, William Rusty Aurand of Vancouver, Wash., Richard Adair Aurand of Owaso, Okla., Robert Bruce Aurand of Louisville and Richard Frederick Aurand of Grand Junction; two daughters, Robyn Lind Haskett of Greeley and Rhonda Lee Baumert of Broomfield; two sisters, Margaret Eversoll of Grand Island, Neb., and his twin, Isabel C. Bermis of Browley, Calif.; a brother, James Bruce Aurand of Chapman, Neb.; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul E. Aurand.

Funeral services were held.

Ronald Eugene Hein
June 30, 1939 - June 12, 2000

Ronald Eugene Hein of Longmont died Monday, June 12, 2000, at his home. He was 60.

He was born June 30, 1939, in Sterling to Andrew Hein and Elsie Ils Hein. He married Lois E. Curtis in Sterling on Jan. 5, 1959.

He graduated from Sterling High School in 1957 and attended Northeastern Junior College.

Mr. Hein was a licensed plumber and pipe fitter. He worked for many years designing and installing farming irrigation systems. He also worked as an apartment manager.

He moved to Greeley in 1983 and to Boulder in 1987. In 1994, he moved to Longmont. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife of Longmont; three daughters, Pamela Miller of Greeley, Judy Hein of Boulder, and Terri Meerschaert; a sister, Connie Pinto of New York City; two brothers, James Hein of Lakewood and Thomas Hein of Guntherville, Ala.; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Ave., Greeley.

Contributions may be made to the Ron Hein Memorial Fund, in care of Northern Colorado Crematory, 700 8th St., Greeley, CO 80631.

Motohisa Kanda
Sept. 10, 1943 - June 12, 2000

Motohisa Kanda of Boulder died of cancer Monday, June 12, 2000, at his home. He was 56.

He was born Sept. 10, 1943, in Kanagawa, Japan, to Saburo and Sachiyo Kanda. He married Yoko Umeda on Sept. 18, 1971, in Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Kanda received a bachelor of science degree in 1966 from Keio University in Tokyo. He received a master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Colorado.

In 1971, he joined the staff of the Radio-Frequency Technology Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and he served as a group leader of the Fields and Interference Group for 15 years. He also served as an adjoint professor for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at CU.

He lived in Boulder for 29 years. He enjoyed playing tennis, hiking, skiing and remodeling.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; three sons, Michael Kanda of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Mark Kanda and Matthew Kanda, both of Boulder; a daughter, Carol Kanda of Durango; his mother of Tokyo; and two sisters, Eiko Rattenbury of Littleton and Keiko Hioki of Tokyo.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. June 24 at Harvest Baptist Church, 7493 Old Mill Trail, Boulder.

Contributions may be made to the Denver Japanese Bible Fellowship, 7066 South Elm Court, Littleton, CO 80122.

Robert Brookings Lange
Sept. 5, 1925 - June 15, 2000

Robert Brookings Lange of Boulder died Thursday, June 15, 2000, of natural causes. He was 74.

He was born Sept. 5, 1925, to Philo Lange and Alice Wells Lange. He married Viola Burden in 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa.

Mr. Lange moved to Boulder in 1969 from Dubuque.

He invented the Lange plastic ski boot.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a son, Robert Brookings Lange Jr. of Paris, France; a daughter, Cornelia Wells-Lange of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Wells B. Lange of Niwot; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Swasey Nielsen, and a brother, Philo B. Lange.

Services are pending.
