Lester O. Deason

Dec. 6, 1914 - Nov. 3, 2005

Lester O. Deason, of Boulder, died of natural causes Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, in Louisville. He was 90.

The son of Ira Deason and Melissa Bearden Deason, he was born on Dec. 6, 2005, in Fleetwood, Okla. On Jan. 2, 1938, he married Gertrude "Trudy" Deason-Hovis in Rush Springs, Okla. Mr. Deason moved to Boulder in 1951.

He completed seventh grade at Chapel Valley Union School in Fleetwood, and, from 1936 until 1937, was trained as a chef and meat cutter in the Civilian Conservation Camps. He worked as a meat cutter for Safeway; in the Kaiser shipyards of Portland, Ore; and in the Podd Shipyards of San Pedro, Calif. He was a pipe fitter with Union 208 until he retired in 1976. He then worked as a trapper.

Mr. Deason enjoyed trapping, fishing, horses, rodeos, country dancing, being with family, and sharing hobbies with grandchildren.

He was "faithful in his walk and a good Christian man, " his family said.

Survivors include a daughter, Annette Schaetzl, of Longmont; two sons, Wayne Deason, of Tucson, Ariz., and Cliff Deason, of Surprise, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Mildred Reed, and Irene Sewell; and a brother, Olen Deason.

A memorial servicewill be at 1 p.m. Thursday at East Boulder Baptist Church, 7690 Baseline Road, Boulder. Pastor Larry Damann will officiate.

Crist Mortuary, in Boulder, is handling arrangements.

Luciano 'Luigi' Colabello

Dec. 13, 1938 - March 13, 2006

Luciano "Luigi" Colabello, of Louisville, died of lung cancer Monday, March 13, 2006, in Lafayette. He was 67.

The son of Luigi Colabello and Maria Colacci Colabello, he was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Lupara, Italy. He married Antonella Toscano on Oct. 12, 1963, in Campobasso, Italy.

Mr. Colabello moved to Louisville in 1949.

The owner of Luigi's Restaurant in Louisville, Mr. Colabello also worked as a car dealer. He was a member of the Elks Club in Louisville, and he served in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, of Louisville; two daughters, Vienna Colabello, of Louisville, and Fabiola Shaw, of Tulsa, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at Darrell Howe Mortuary, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Ave., Louisville. The Rev. Tim Gaines will officiate.

Dean Parriott

April 2, 1943 - March 10, 2006

Dean Parriott, formerly of Longmont and Erie, died of natural causes Friday, March 10, 2006, in Firestone. He was 62.

The son of Charles Parriott and Illabelle VonEhrenkrook Parriott, he was born April 2, 1943, in Denver. He married Sandra Bethurum on June 15, 1963, in Westminster.

Mr. Parriott moved to Erie in 1976, to Longmont in 1988 and to Firestone in 1998.

A 1961 graduate of Westminster High School, he owned Dean Parriott Masonry in Erie. He also was a rodeo cowboy, competing in calf roping at area rodeos, and enjoyed traveling to performances with his wife when she sang in the Shiloh Band.

"He will be remembered for his willingness to teach and help others with their roping skills and tips on training horses, " relatives said. "Dean worked with two disabled veterans teaching them to rope and overcome their disability. He always had time to help others."

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jeff Parriott, of Thornton, Joel Parriott, of Littleton, and Lane Parriott, of Petersberg, Tenn.; a brother, Dwayne Parriott, of Phoenix; a sister, Leotta Silkensen, of Englewood; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Parriott was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard Parriott.

Memorial servicesare at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rocky Mountain Christian Church, 9447 Niwot Road in Niwot.

Dennis Bernard Kaiser

Dec. 19, 1931 - March 8, 2006

Dennis Bernard Kaiser, of Boulder, died of cancer Wednesday, March 8, 2006, in Louisville. He was 74.

The son of Floyd E. Kaiser and Dorothy G. Whitney Kaiser, he was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Clay Center, Kan. He married Jacqueline Cash in Sept. 5, 1951, in Kansas. They divorced in 1969. Evelyn Paz, of Boulder, became Mr. Kaiser's life partner in 1970.

Mr. Kaiser moved to Boulder in 1958.

Survivors include his life partner; two sons, Mike Kaiser, of Boulder, and Ty Paz, of New York; a daughter, Denise Hobbs, of Boulder; three sisters, Rachel Lowe, of California, Ruth Pospisil, of Minnesota, and Kay Kindall, of Kansas; seven grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bob Kaiser; and a daughter, Rachel.

A graduate of the University of Colorado, Mr. Kaiser founded Professional Cleaning Services in 1959, and sold all but the window cleaning part in the late 1970s.

An avid Scrabble player, Mr. Kaiser competed in tournaments around the country. In various years, he was ranked among the top 50 or top 100 national players. He won the Denver tournament at age 72, and was ranked the No. 1 player in Colorado.

"He and his dog, Busser, loved becoming acquainted with his many regular customers, who have already been missing him during these years of illness, " his family said. "His spirit lives on in the hearts of the many who will miss him."

A memorial servicewill be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Valmont Community Presbyterian Church, 3262 61st St., Boulder.

Edward J. Gac

Jan. 11, 1944 - March 15, 2006

Edward J. Gac, of Boulder, died of a pulmonary embolism on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in Boulder. He was 62.

The son of Paul Gac and Anna Lauber Gac, he was born Jan. 11, 1944, in Karlstrue, Germany. He married Rhonda Carlson on Jan. 27, 1968, in Champaign, Ill.

Mr. Gac moved to Boulder in 1977.

He was a professor of business law and taxation at the University of Colorado's Leeds School of Business and School of Law since 1982 and a U.S. tax attorney from 1968 to 1982. He received several teaching awards from CU, including the Joseph Frascona Teaching Excellence Award.

He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Western Illinois University and a juris doctor from the University of Illinois.

Mr. Gac was a member of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, St. John's Episcopal Cathedral in Denver and the Mercedes Benz Club of America.

Survivors include his wife and three brothers.

He is also survived by "five cocker spaniels Portia, Coco, Enzo, Tiffany and Jackie O, " who are AKC champions, the family said.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Gac.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 1350 Washington St., Denver, with Canon Rebecca Crummey officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., Boulder.

Contributions in Mr. Gac's name may be made to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, 2323 55th St., Boulder, CO 80301.

Paul A. Alden

March 13, 1928 - March 2, 2006

Paul A. Alden, of Boulder, died of natural causes March 2, 2006, in Boulder. He was 77.

The son of Alden Smith and Mildred Ecarrius Alden Zeiger, he was born March 13, 1928, in Omaha, Neb. He married Helen Louise Van Puffelen on Sept. 13, 1975, in Boulder. She died.

Mr. Alden moved to Boulder in 1975.

He was employed at Rocky Flats.

Mr. Alden was "a beloved parent and grandparent who offered abundant unconditional love, " his family said. "He will be missed."

Survivors include two sons, Daniel L. Alden, of Denver, and Larry M. Alden, of Thornton; a daughter, Kathleen K. Ayala, of Denver; two stepdaughters, Lynn R. Tidd, of Louisville, and Rebecca S. Mullen, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and one stepson, Steven M. Mullen, of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. March 26, at Crestview Church, 3665 Madison Ave., Boulder.

TIMOTHY L. DEISHER

Timothy L. Deisher, of Longmont, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in Longmont. He was 49.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rundus Funeral Home, 1998 W. 10th Ave., Broomfield.

BILL J. FISHER

Bill J. Fisher, of Broomfield, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Westminster. He was 79.

Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of M.P. Murphy and Associates Funeral Directors, Boulder.

Craig J. Stephens

June 21, 1965 - March 8, 2006

Craig J. Stephens, a lifelong resident of Boulder, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at his home. He was 40.

The son of John Stephens and Patricia James, he was born June 21, 1965, in Boulder. He married Shelly Glennen in 1990; they divorced.

A graduate of Fairview High School in Boulder and Metropolitan State College of Denver, Mr. Stephens worked as a direct-marketing salesman. He was a member of the Louisville Rod & Gun Club, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, journaling and poetry, playing guitar, writing and art.

"Craig was a kind and gentle soul who taught us to love and hug, " relatives said. "He loved music, his motorcycle and the outdoors.

"His family and friends will miss the caring and friendship he brought into our lives, and we will all miss him. He is loved."

Survivors include his parents; former wife; sister- and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Scott Simmonds, of Loveland; a niece, Morgan Simmonds, of Loveland; a nephew, Zachary Simmonds, of Loveland; and his paternal grandmother, Faye Stephens, of Clarinda, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Boulder Valley Christian Church, 7100 South Boulder Road. A reception will follow at the church.

Clyde M. Babcock

April 13, 1924 - March 11, 2006

Clyde M. Babcock, of Boulder, died of natural causes Saturday, March 11, 2006, in Boulder. He was 81.

The son of Leon Babcock and Frieda Bunhund Babcock, he was born April 13, 1924, in Thief River Falls, Minn. He married Dorothy T. Dunlop on Dec. 22, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minn. Mr. Babcock moved to Boulder in 1952.

Mr. Babcock attended three years of trade school and worked as a journeyman machinist. He was a member of the Elks Club, and enjoyed fishing, card playing and yard work.

He was a "good husband, father and grandfather, " his family said. "He will be missed."

Survivors include his wife, of Boulder; two sons, Kevin M. Babcock, of Nederland, and A. Michael Babcock, of Bozeman, Mont.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in the memory of Mr. Babcock may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Suite A, Lafayette, CO 80027.
