Eileen Goble

Dec. 2, 1916 - March 9, 2006

Eileen Goble, of Westminster, died of natural causes Thursday, March 9, 2006, in Thornton. She was 89.

The daughter of Nelson Buckles and Carrie Higbee Buckles, she was born Dec. 2, 1916, in Otego, Kan. She married Martin Goble on Dec. 9, 1939, in Denver. He died.

Mrs. Goble moved to Boulder in 1964, and to Westminster in 2000.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Goble, of Broomfield, and Gene Goble, of Lakewood; a sister, Lois Grand, of Aurora; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Lyle Buckles; and a sister, Betti Casey.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

Timothy L. Deisher

April 1, 1956 - March 14, 2006

Timothy L. Deisher, of Longmont, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in Longmont. He was 49.

The son of Floyd Deisher and Doreane Moore Deisher, he was born April 1, 1956, in Boulder.

Mr. Deisher was a lifelong resident of Boulder County.

A graduate of Boulder High School, Mr. Deisher attended police academy and worked in law enforcement for more than 20 years. He was a Boulder County Sheriff's deputy.

Mr. Deisher was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hiking.

"Tim was a man of few words, well-known and respected by many, " his family said. "He was a wonderful man who will be missed deeply by those who knew him."

Survivors include a daughter, Amber C. Lytton, of Thornton; and a sister, Carolyn Graham, of Boulder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Mike Deisher.

Services have been held.

Rundus Funeral Home, of Broomfield, handled arrangements.

Lorraine J. Heyns

March 20, 1939 - March 12, 2006

Lorraine J. Heyns, of Boulder, died Sunday, March 12, 2006. The cause of death has yet to be determined. She was 66.

The daughter of Lorents Tonnesen and Marie Samuelsen Tonnesen, she was born March 20, 1939, in Elizabeth, N.J. She married Garrett J. Heyns on Oct. 18, 1958, in Cranford, N.J.

Mrs. Heyns moved to Boulder in 1969.

An active member of First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, Mrs. Heyns was an active member of chapter EQ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

"She was greatly loved and will be missed, " her family said.

Survivors include her husband, of Boulder; two daughters, Kathy Blackburn, of Boulder, and Jenn Rawson, of Littleton; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

A memorial servicewill be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, 1820 15th St., Boulder. The Rev. John Hess will officiate.

Thaddeus Makowski

May 15, 1945 - March 4, 2006

Thaddeus Makowski, of Boulder, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, in Scottsdale, Ariz. The cause of death has yet to be determined. He was 60.

The son of Steven Makowski and Genevieve Lakoma Makowski, he was born May 15, 1945, in Chicago. He married Carol Kwolek on May 15, 1965, in Chicago.

Mr. Makowski moved to Boulder in 1969.

He earned a psychology degree from the University of Colorado and served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years during the Vietnam War.

He worked for Strategists Inc. and in logistics for United Van Lines and North America Van Lines. He was a member of Denver Transportation Club, Strategic Connections Inc. and Executives Elite.

Mr. Makowski and his wife bred basset hounds under the Bristlecone kennel name. He served as president of the Basset Hound Club of America, an American Kennel Club delegate for the Colorado Kennel Club and an AKC field trial judge.

"Family, community, country and nature were in the heart of this wonderful man, " his family said. "Honor him by honoring these values in your daily lives."

Survivors include his wife, of Boulder; one son, Thad Matthew Makowski, of Playa del Rey, Calif.; one daughter, Carrie Ann Herbstreit, of Erie; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steven Makowski.

A memorial service will be announced in the spring.

Crist Mortuary, in Boulder, is handling arrangements.

Salone 'Sally' Kite

Feb. 3, 1914 - March 14, 2006

Salone "Sally" Kite, of Provo, Utah, formerly of Boulder, died of natural causes Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in Provo. She was 92.

The daughter of Miles Wesley Nance and Sarah Selina Christensen Nance, she was born Feb. 3, 1914, in Manassa. She married William A. Kite Jr. on Sept. 2, 1933, in Denver. He died.

Mrs. Kite lived in Boulder from September 1933 until August 1995.

Mrs. Kite attended business college in Denver, and worked for 35 years at J.C. Penney Co. and 10 years at Valleylab.

She enjoyed growing roses, and, until age 91, worked in the flower gardens every day.

"Her concern was for her family. We will miss our sweet, kind mother, " her family said.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Sherm Hislop, and Nancy Leach, both of Provo; six grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six sisters and three brothers.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Nance Family Cemetery, in Manassa. Jerry Creery will dedicate the grave.

Serenicare, in Sandy, Utah, handled arrangements.

FREDA OSBURN

Freda Osburn, of Longmont, died of natural causes Sunday, March 12, 2006, in Longmont. She was 95.

A graveside service will be at noon today, followed by interment at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., Boulder.

Crist Mortuary handled arrangements.

N. Andrew Crook

Oct. 29, 1958 - Feb. 11, 2006

N. Andrew Crook, of Boulder, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, in Boulder. He was 47.

The son of Douglas Crook and Alyson Crook, he was born Oct. 29, 1958, in Melbourne, Australia.

Mr. Crook moved to Boulder in 1987.

Mr. Crook completed his bachelor's degree at Monash University, in Melbourne, his Ph.D. at Imperial College, in London, and his post-doctoral work at Princeton University. He was a senior scientist at National Center for Atmospheric Research. His modeling of Rocky Mountain rainstorms helped predict which storms would cause Midwest flooding.

An avid runner, Mr. Crook ran 5 kilometers in 15:00.90, placing him 12th in the world for runners older than 40. He held several top-10 finishes in the Bolder Boulder and holds the speed record in the "Up the Hill" annual run.

"Andrew was a kind, gentle, generous and humble man who was a gifted athlete and scientist, " his family said. "He loved his work, running and, most of all, he loved children his nieces and nephews and Kelsey."

Survivors include his father, of Ballarat, Australia; a brother, Colin Crook, of Ballaret; two sisters, Margaret Pym and Heather Taylor, of Ballarat; and his partner, Carol Park, of Boulder.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., today at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, 4775 Cambridge St., Boulder. The Rev. Michael Houlik will officiate.

Robert A. Nies

July 21, 1919 - Feb. 8, 2006

Robert A. Nies, of Boulder, died of natural causes Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at Boulder County HospiceCare Center in Louisville. He was 86.

The son of Antone Nies and Anastasia Kane, he was born July 21, 1919, in Wrightstown, Wis. He married Dorothy Rishelon June 25, 1947, in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Nies moved to Boulder County in 1968.

"His love of words in sales and outside projects around the home was secondary only to his love for his family, " his relatives said.

Survivors include sons Michael Nies, of Grand Junction, Paul Nies, of Berthoud, and John Nies, of Lynwood, Wash., daughters Margaret Nies, of Grand Junction, Mary Wagner, of Bayfield, and Colette Nies, of Orlando, Fla., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Nies was preceded in death by his wife.

Erlinger Cremation & Funeral Service in Longmont is handling arrangements. Services have not been announced.

Rose Jean Harris

May 28, 1921 - Feb. 8, 2006

Rose Jean Harris, of Longmont, died of a stroke Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, near Lyons. She was 84.

The daughter of Robert Matthews Stone and Lucille Oliver Stone, she was born May 28, 1921, in Tulsa, Okla. She married Norman James Harris on Aug. 23, 1941, in Tulsa. He died in 1963.

Mrs. Harris moved to Boulder County in 1959.

She earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of Tulsa in 1944, and a master's degree in recreation from Colorado State College in Greeley, now the University of Northern Colorado, in 1967.

She was an assistant professor in recreation at Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Ind., and a professor of recreation at the Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne. She worked for the state of Colorado as a master therapeutic recreation specialist, and for the state of Wyoming's Green Thumb Program. She then worked for Boulder County senior services until retiring in 1995.

Mrs. Harris served on the board of Boulder County Aging Services for more than 10 years and was active in the Baha'i faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Ellen Gumeson, of Montrose, and Lua SageFisher, of Lyons; a son, James Alden Harris, of Lyons; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Robert John Stone.

A private, family burial was at Conifer Hill Cemetery on Wednesday.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at Roger's Hall, Fourth and High streets, Lyons. There will be a desserts potluck; call Leewitt Akia, (303) 532-4138, for information.
