Lydia Hladky

Sept. 20, 1918 - Feb. 7, 2006

Lydia Hladky, of Lafayette, died of natural causes Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at her residence. She was 87.

The daughter of Theophile Moisevych and Yaroslawa Rubchak, she was born Sept. 20, 1918, in Ukraine. She married Walter Hladky. He died May 29, 2003.

Mrs. Hladky moved to Lafayette in 2003.

A graduate of the University of Munich in Germany, she was a former president and vice president of The Ukrainian Women's Association. A delegate to the United Nations, she worked on behalf of displaced persons.

She enjoyed embroidery.

"Lydia, loving wife, mother and friend to all who met and knew her, however briefly or well, " the family said.

Survivors include one son, Adrian Hladky, of Lafayette; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A private family service will be held later.

LISA M. LEE

Lisa M. Lee, of Boulder, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, in Louisville. She was 54. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of M.P. Murphy & Associates Funeral Directors in Boulder.

Willa F. Houston

Aug. 8, 1916 - Feb. 9, 2006

Willa F. Houston, of Niwot, died of natural causes Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, in Louisville. She was 89.

The daughter of John Barker and Helen Schmidt Barker, she was born Aug. 8, 1916, in Warsaw, Ill. She married Norman Houston in 1933 in Beardstown, Ill. He died in 1988.

Mrs. Houston moved to Niwot in 2004.

A homemaker, she enjoyed needlework, gardening and bird watching.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Herbst, of Niwot; two grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Norman Houston Jr.; a sister, Yadoshia Barker; and a brother, Frank Barker.

No services have been planned.

Wallace B. Conine

July 14, 1917 - Feb. 9, 2006

Wallace B. Conine, of Longmont, died of natural causes Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, in Longmont. He was 88.

The son of Wallace P. Conine and Lillie Mae Renfroe Conine, he was born July 14, 1917, in Louise, Miss. He married Mary Belle Thompson on April 4, 1942, in Jackson, Miss.

Mr. Conine moved to Longmont in 1989.

After graduating from Central High School in Jackson in 1936, Mr. Conine joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941, serving in the Technical Training Command Wing. He was discharged as a corporal in 1943.

He attended the General Motors Institute and joined the Buick Motor Division in 1950. He served as manager of the General Motors Training Center in Denver, and later in Atlanta, from 1969 until his retirement in 1982.

A member of Boulder Valley Christian Church, Mr. Conine enjoyed golfing and was an award-winning model airplane builder.

Survivors include his wife, of Longmont; a son, Gary Conine, of Santa Fe, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudia Conine Shelton.

Private services will be held.

William Dana Bateman

March 17, 1941 - Feb. 8, 2006

William Dana Bateman, of Boulder, died of lymphoma Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at his residence. He was 64.

The son of Andrew Frank Bateman Jr. and Evelyn Jill Cook Bateman, he was born March 17, 1941, in Loveland. He married Barbara J. Swanson on June 25, 1965, in Minneapolis.

Mr. Bateman moved to Boulder in 1980.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., in 1964 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.

He worked as an insurance claims manager at IDS in Minneapolis. He became an associate volunteer at Denver Museum of Nature and Science in 1990 and was a paleontologist specializing in ammonites.

Mr. Bateman was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Boulder and the Western Interior Paleontology Society, and was a past president of the Flatirons Mineral Club in Boulder.

He enjoyed fossils and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, of Boulder; two daughters, Beverly Nicol, of Lafayette, and Julie Martinez, of New Castle; one brother, Kirk Bateman, of Centennial; one sister, Sarah Bateman, of Edina, Minn.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder. The Revs. John Hess and Neal Lloyd will officiate. Services will conclude with a reception at the church.

Jack D. Kessinger, of Boulder, died of natural causes Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, in Boulder. He was 80. Howe Mortuary in Lafayette is handling arrangements. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. todayat First United Methodist Church, 350 11th Ave., Longmont.

Ronald Lyle Zinner

July 13, 1949 - Feb. 6, 2006

Ronald Lyle Zinner, of Louisville, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, in Denver. The cause of death has yet to be determined. He was 56.

The son of Carl N. Zinner and Gwen Munsell Zinner Phipps, he was born July 13, 1949, in Denver. He married Diana Perry on Feb. 2, 1974, in Aurora. They divorced.

Mr. Zinner moved to Louisville in 1987.

He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in 1971 and a master's in business administration from Regis University in 2003.

He served in the Peace Corps in Brazil and worked at StorageTek for 27 years.

Survivors include his mother, of Aurora; two sons, Shane Zinner, of Broomfield, and Travis Zinner, of San Diego; a daughter, Shawna Samuelson, of Wellington; and a brother, Dennis Zinner, of Riverbank, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Stephen Zinner.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

Reba Maurine Cochran

Oct. 1, 1914 - Feb. 3, 2006

Reba Maurine Cochran, of Boulder, died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, in Louisville. She was 91.

The daughter of William Wilson and Rosa Musgraves Wilson, she was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Barnhill, Ill. She married Scott Wylie on Aug. 21, 1935, in Quinter, Kan. He died in 1969. She married Bob Cochran on Oct. 19, 1978, in Boulder.

Mrs. Cochran lived in Boulder from 1943 to 1978. She returned in 1988.

A homemaker, she worked part-time jobs at Montgomery Ward and Neodata.

She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include two sisters, Edna Aichinger, of Escondido, Calif., and Lavetta Holt, of Del Mar, Calif.; a son, Royer Wylie, of Boulder; a daughter, Gayle Ward, of Houston; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; two brothers, Lloyd Wilson and Paul Wilson; three sisters, Elsie Harvey, Edith Parker and Doris Schearer; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Foothills Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5885 Jay Road, Boulder.

Jerry Wade Bartling

Jan. 20, 1924 - Feb. 7, 2006

Jerry Wade Bartling, of Greeley, formerly of Boulder, died of natural causes Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, in Greeley. He was 82.

The son of Oscar Henry Bartling and Frances Beheymer Bartling, he was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Springfield, Mo.

Mr. Bartling lived in Boulder from 1964 to 1998.

He served in the 11th Armored Division of the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as an engineer for Trailmobile and Timpte Industries Inc.

Survivors include a son, Tom Bartling, of Lafayette; and a daughter, Sharon Grogan, of Halls Crossing, Utah.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder, 5001 Pennsylvania Ave.

Wendy Jean Fox

May 28, 1957 - Feb. 6, 2006

Wendy Jean Fox, of Boulder, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at her home. The cause of death has not yet been determined. She was 48.

The daughter of Cyril Edward Schrack and Bonnie Lee Jerles, she was born May 28, 1957, in Chicago. She married Peter Fox on Feb. 14, 1995, in Jamaica.

Mrs. Fox moved to Boulder in 1979.

A graduate of El Dorado High School in Placentia, Calif., she attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, and was a secretary for the Boulder County court system.

She was a Christian and a member of the Society of Outstanding High School Students.

She enjoyed cooking and arts and crafts.

Survivors include her husband, of Boulder; her mother, of Boulder; two sisters, Susan Chunn, of Boulder, and Mickie Fussell, of Canton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church, 7520 South Boulder Road, Boulder. Father Peter Munson will officiate. A reception will follow at the church.
