Margaret E. ‘Midge’ Henn
Margaret E. "Midge" Henn, a former Durango resident, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Lexington Place in Dallas from cancer.
Mrs. Henn was born Nov. 2, 1917, in Madison, N.J. After attending Madison High School, she worked at the Empire State Building before marrying Frederick C. Henn in 1942. She was active in the Women’s Club, the St. Clare’s Auxiliary and other charitable organizations in Denville, N.J.
In 1982, Mrs. Henn and her husband moved to Durango, where she was a former president of the Durango Garden Club and an active supporter of the Music in the Mountains Festival. She moved to Yuma, Ariz. in 1997 and then to Dallas in 1998.
Mrs. Henn is survived by her husband, Frederick; a son, Robert Henn of Dover, N.J.; a daughter, Florence Mason of Dallas; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Frederick C. Henn.
Clarence Harmon Holsey
Private services were held for Clarence Harmon Holsey, a former Durango resident, who died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Phoenix. He was 71.
The Rev. Jim Brown officiated during services at Hood Mortuary.
Mr. Holsey was born in Wichita, Kan., Feb. 9, 1928. He married Patricia Duren in Wichita in 1948. He was the owner and operator of Basin Distributing Co. and owned bookstores in Durango and Farmington.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, Vaughn Holsey of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Cindy Yeager and Terry O’Karma, both of Durango; two brothers, Robert Holsey and Lloyd Holsey, both of Wichita; a sister, Vickey Riggins of Wichita; and six grandchildren.

Beatrice Rojo
Memorial services will be held at a later date in San Antonio, Texas, for Beatrice Rojo, who died Thursday, April 29, 1999, in Durango. She was 82. The cause of death was not available.
Mrs. Rojo was born Dec. 31, 1916, in San Antonio. She was a saleswoman and homemaker throughout her life. She moved to Durango a few years ago to be near her niece.
Mrs. Rojo was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Rojo in 1956, and her son, Alex Rojo in 1988.
She is survived by her niece, Rosalina Lujan of Bayfield.
Hugh Leroy Lee
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Kirkland Branch Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kirkland, Ariz., for Hugh Leroy Lee, who died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at his home in Wilhoit, Ariz. He was 81. The cause of death was not available.
Burial will be at Genung Cemetery
with military honors by American Legion Post 6 of Prescott, Ariz.
Mr. Lee was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Kline. After completing his education in Mesa, Ariz., he owned trading posts in Grando, Black Mountain and Keems Canyon, among others, with the last post in Penguitch, Utah.
Mr. Lee was president of the Indian Traders Association and president of the federally financed schools on the Navajo Reservations. He also started the U.S. Supreme Court legal fight to determine state jurisdiction on the Navajo Reservations.
Mr. Lee served in the U.S. Air Corps and U.S. Naval Air Corps. He was also a pilot for American Airlines. He was a life time member of the Elks Lodge 330 of Prescott, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory James.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Kirkland, Ariz.; a son, Michael Lee Gray of Timberville, Va.; four daughters, Dianna Allen of Mesa, Ariz., Sandra Weston of Wilhoit, Ariz., Cheirel Muir of Maridan, Idaho, and Cynthia Lee of Prescott, Ariz.; two stepchildren, Harvey Haynes of Beaumont, Texas, and Karen Byrant of Anahuac, Texas; one brother, two sisters; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Bernadine Yvette Frost
Services will be 10 a.m. today at St. Ignatius Catholic Church for Bernadine Yvette Frost, who died Thursday, April 22, 1999, in Longmont. She was 30. The cause of death was not available.
The Rev. Eddy Andary will officiate. Burial will be at Ouray Memorial Cemetery.
A wake was held Monday evening at the Raymond Frost Jr. residence.
Ms. Frost was born Nov. 1, 1968, in Durango. She was a member of the Southern Ute Tribe and St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
Ms. Frost enjoyed hunting. She had a good sense of humor and made friends quickly.
Ms. Frost was a resident of Longmont for the past eight years.
Survivors include her father and step-mother, Raymond Frost Sr. and Edna Frost of Ignacio; three children, Matthew Frost of Ignacio and Nathanial Carmaneros and Alicia Carmaneros, both of Longmont; six sisters, Lena Baker, Roxanne Frost, Marianna Frost, Heather Frost, Jeanette Frost and Audrey Frost, all of Ignacio; seven brothers, Raymond Frost Jr., Emmett Frost, Rodney Red, Glen Frost and Robert Jack, all of Ignacio, and Conrad Kingsley and Carl Hamlin, both of Towaoc; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Edwin ‘Jody’ Waggoner
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Hood Mortuary Chapel for Edwin "Jody" Waggoner, who died Friday, April 23, 1999, in Durango. He was 64. The cause of death was not available.
Chaplain Myron Darmour will officiate.
Mr. Waggoner was born Aug. 30, 1934, in La Plata, N.M. He was raised in the Durango area.
He graduated from Okinawa High School in Awase, Okinawa.
Mr. Waggoner worked as a welder in the mining industry most of his life.
He moved back to the Durango area two years ago from Arizona and was a resident of Ignacio.
Survivors include his daughter, Jodie Smith of Bayfield; three sons, Toby Waggoner of Madison, Kan., Mike Waggoner of Durango and Mitch Waggoner of Aztec, N.M.; two sisters, Patsy Parker and Mary G. Young, both of Farmington, N.M.; a brother, Cy Waggoner of Aztec, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anita Diane ‘Nita’ de Perini
No memorial ceremony is planned for Anita Diane "Nita" de Perini, who died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, in Durango. She was 60. The cause of death was not available.
Ms. Perini was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Pasadena, Calif. She attended John Muir High School in Pasadena. She then lived in Laguna Beach, Calif.
Ms. Perini moved to Santa Fe, N.M., in 1986 and then to the Durango area in 1993.
She owned and operated the Calico Hill Cafe espresso cart at the south City Market in Durango.
Survivors include her life partner of 23 years, Pat Carlson of Bayfield; a sister, Toni Bower of Long Beach, Calif.; a niece, Tina Pauro; and a nephew, Nicholas Pauro.

Sylvia Gilchrist Smith
Services will be held today in California for Sylvia Gilchrist Smith, who died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, in San Francisco, following surgery after a 20-year battle with cancer. She was 60.
Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 11, 1938, in Durango. Her parents, Margaret and Sam Gilchrist, were the owners of the Gilchrist Appliance store on Main Avenue.
Mrs. Smith attended Durango schools and graduated from Durango High School in 1956. She worked as an independent bookkeeper.
Survivors include her son, Callan Smith; her husband, Jim Smith of San Jose, Calif.; and a sister, Janet Gilchrist Bateman of Denver.

Phyllis Roth Butler
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery
in Arkansas for Phyllis Roth Butler, who died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. She was 77. The cause of death was not available.
Mr. Buddy Wright and the Rev. Tommy Henson will officiate.
Mrs. Butler was born July 31, 1921, in Hay Gulch. She graduated from high school in Marvel.
Mrs. Butler was a homemaker. She moved to Rogers, Ark., in 1953 from Durango. She was a member of the Sunnyside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Butler enjoyed sewing and embroidery work.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara May Butler.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, George Butler of Rogers, Ark.; two sons, George Butler Jr. of Tulsa, Okla., and David Butler of Collinsville, Okla.; one daughter, Jo Ridgway of Manford, Okla.; one brother, Cecil Roth of Durango; two sisters, Ilene Roth of Tempe, Ariz., and Marian Roth of Paonia and four grandchildren.
