Pearl 'Britt' Britton Jones
Sept. 8, 1912 - July 22, 1999

Pearl "Britt" Britton Jones of Rio Rancho, N.M., formerly of Boulder, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at her home. She was 86.

She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Cabool, Mo., to Jessie Britton and Frances Beeler Britton. She married Charles R. Jones in August 1949 in Boulder. He died in 1986.

Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University and received a master of arts degree from the University of Colorado.

She taught school in Cabool and Victor, Colo., before teaching English at Boulder High School from 1943 until retiring in 1972. She was named "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" for the 1962-63 school year by the Boulder Valley Classroom Teacher's Association. She moved to Boulder in 1943.

Mrs. Jones volunteered with the Boulder Police Department from 1980 until 1987, calculating police response times to emergency and non-emergency calls. She moved to California in 1987 and later to New Mexico.

Survivors include two nephews, James Britton of Lee's Summit, Mo., and William Britton of Atlanta, Ga.

No services are planned.

Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.

Robert C. Osborne
June 25, 1921 - Aug. 7, 1999

Robert C. Osborne of Boulder died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, in Boulder. He was 78.

He was born June 25, 1921, in Lorraine, Ohio, to Wilbur Osborne and Flora Woodruff Osborne. He married Doris Opal Calahan on Oct. 18, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas. She died in 1990.

He graduated from business college in San Antonio and from the Life Bible College in Los Angeles.

From 1947 to 1950, he served as senior pastor in a Foursquare church in Pennsylvania and in three churches in Colorado.

Mr. Osborne was an H & R Block premium tax consultant for more than 30 years. He was also self-employed, doing bookkeeping services out of his home for various companies.

He and his wife operated the Midwest Children's Home in Longmont for about three years.

He moved to Boulder County in 1968.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Law of Joshua Tree, Calif., and Barbara Osborne of Boulder; a sister, Edna Baxter of Wilmington, Del.; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Crosswinds Church, 4705 Baseline Road, Boulder.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Boulder County Division, 400 S. McClaslin #121, Louisville Colo. 80027, or to Asthma Research, 3800 Colfax Ave., Denver, Colo. 80206.

Howe Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Edna M. Baumgartner
March 29, 1928 - Aug. 8, 1999

Edna M. Baumgartner of Longmont died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at her home. She was 71.

She was born March 29, 1928, in Washington County, Wis., to William Wachholz and Elsie Connell Wachholz. She married Neil Baumgartner on Oct. 23, 1954, in Waukesha, Wis.

Mrs. Baumgartner moved to Longmont in 1991 from Cedar Grove, Wis.

She was a resident manager for Hover Manor in Longmont from 1993 to 1996.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Port Washington, Wis. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and going to the mountains. She also enjoyed horses, trick riding and teaching horseback riding.

Survivors include her husband of Longmont; two sons, Thomas Baumgartner of Anchorage, Alaska, and William Baumgartner of Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Linda Brooks of Fox Lake, Wis., Lori Yoho of Longmont and Peggy Merlino of Westminster; two brothers, William Wachholz of Colgate, Wis., and Robert Wachholz of Plano, Texas; a sister, Elaine Linstedt of Colgate, and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McLaughlin.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont, 439 Coffman St. Cremation will be held at Howe Crematory Services.

Jones

Barbara E. Jones of Broomfield died Aug. 7, 1999, at Lutheran Medical Center.

She was born to Leroy Onweller and Jeanette Merritt and graduated from Morenci High School in Morenci, Mich. She earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University.

She had worked as an elementary school teacher in Morenci and had lived in Broomfield for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Christian Church of Broomfield.

She is survived by her close friend, Eddie Risoli; two daughters, Barbara Ann Nettle of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Kay Marie McAfee of Broomfield; and five grandchildren, Lisa Bacci, Renee Bacci, Tracey McAfee, Christie McAfee and Julie McAfee.

Services were Aug. 11 at Christian Church of Broomfield, officiated by the Rev. David McVey. Contributions may be made to the Christian Church of Broomfield Building Fund, 12601 Sheridan Blvd., Broomfield, 80020, or to the Denver Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 5206, Denver, 80217.

Arrangements were handled by Rundus Funeral Home.

Schubert

Paul Michael Schubert of Genesee died Aug. 11 at his home. He was 50.

Schubert was born April 16, 1949, in Defiance, Ohio. He received degrees from Indiana University and the University of Phoenix and served in the U.S. Army. In 1979, he married Frances Carmela Cavaleri in Denver.

He was the regional vice president for Ryland Mortgage Company's Mid-Atlantic Region in Fairfax County, Va., from 1993 to 1998. Before that, he was regional manager for First Union Mortgage in Denver.

He was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Michael Schubert in Denver; a daughter, Christina Schubert-Cullen of Lakewood; his parents, Alvin and Allene Schubert of Sherwood, Ohio; two brothers, Eugene Schubert and Fredric Schubert; and a sister, Kathleen Cline, all of Ohio; and one grandchild.

WENDY SUE HAUSS

April 6, 1949 - July 29, 1999
Wendy Sue Hauss of Annapolis, Md., died Thursday, July 29, 1999, of advanced breast cancer. She was 50.

Wendy Sue Hauss was born April 6, 1949, in Oak Park, Ill., to Harry John Johnston and Anne Marie Glasgow Johnston. She married Karl Hauss in 1970 in Boulder.

She lived in Boulder and Hygiene, and moved to Annapolis in 1989.

Mrs. Hauss enjoyed her daughter's Georgetown Lacrosse Team.

Survivors include her husband of Annapolis; two daughters Vanessa and Margaux Hauss, both of Annapolis; her mother of Arlington Heights; one brother, Ken Johnston of Oklahoma City, Okla., and one sister, Laurie Johnston-Aronson of Boulder.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A memorial gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Leonard's Crane Hollow Farm, west of Hygiene.

ANGELA MICHELLE 'MIKKI' LOCASCIO

Feb. 14, 1984 - Aug. 11, 1999
Angela Michelle "Mikki" Locascio of Boulder died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, in Vail from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was 15.

She was born Feb. 14, 1984, in Bellevue, Wash., to Michael Locascio and Cynthia Chatto Locascio.

She was a student at Fairview High School. She had lived in Boulder for eight years, moving from Redmond, Wash.

Survivors include her father of Redmond; her mother of Boulder; her step-mother, Kelli Locascio of Redmond and three brothers, Matthew, Tony and Daniel Locascio, all of Redmond.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 34th Street and Diagonal Highway in Boulder, with the Rev. David Frees of the Boulder First Church of the Nazarene officiating.

Contributions may be made to the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, 4200 E. Ninth Ave., Denver, Colo. 80220.

Jessie Lucille 'Jackie' Ribble

Aug. 24, 1916 - Aug. 8, 1999
Jessie Lucille "Jackie" Ribble of Boulder died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in Boulder Manor Care. She was 82.

She was born Aug. 24, 1916, in Lyons to Lawrence Peterson and Anna Andrews Peterson. She married Keith Ribble on May 18, 1935, in Boulder. He died in 1973.

Mrs. Ribble was a waitress at Ma's and Pa's Cafe and at Foothills Restaurant in Lyons for several years. She worked for Ball Brothers as an electronic assembler from 1961 until she retired in 1979. She moved to Denver briefly, then moved back to Lyons in 1950. She moved to Boulder in 1996.

She enjoyed her family and attending her grandchildren's sporting and school activities.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Ribble and Jerry Ribble, both of Lyons; one daughter, Arden Kayne of Longmont; one sister, Wilma Vaughn of Longmont; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Memorial services were held. Interment was in the Lyons cemetery.

Lena Rivers Parker
Aug. 24, 1913 - Aug. 15, 1999

Lena Rivers Parker of Boulder died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Frazier Meadows Care Center in Boulder. She was 85.

She was born Aug. 24, 1913, in Ellaville, Ga., to Ernest Fowler and Thulia Layfield Fowler. She married Rufus Parker on Dec. 21, 1936. He died in 1974.

Mrs. Parker moved to Colorado in 1995, coming from Columbus, Ga. She graduated from Montezuma High School in Montezuma, Ga.

She worked as a sales clerk for Sears for 21 years before retiring in 1975.

Mrs. Parker was a member of the Oates Avenue Baptist Church in Columbus for more than 50 years, teaching Sunday school, working with the food bank and serving as the treasurer for a number of years. She was a member of the Sears Retiree Association.

Survivors include three daughters, Joy Weldon of Cheyenne, Wyo., Judith Sorg of Broomfield, and Diane Frietan of Parkland, Wash.; a brother, George Fowler of Montezuma; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eian Fowler and Ernest Fowler; and a sister, Jenny Price.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Phillips Chapel of Frazier Meadows Manor, 350 Ponca Place, Boulder, with the Rev. William Youngblood officiating.

Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Columbus.

Edna Jean Spurgeon
July 10, 1926 - Aug. 15, 1999

Edna Jean Spurgeon of Boulder died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at home. She was 73.

She was born July 10, 1926, in Ione, Wash., to Maude Perry Hayes and Charles Hayes. She married Stanley Spurgeon on Sept. 18, 1945, in Kalispell, Mont. He died in 1988.

She operated a hair salon in the former Boulder Memorial Hospital, worked in an adult day-care center and was an admissions clerk and switchboard operator at Boulder Community Hospital, retiring in 1991.

She volunteered at Boulder Community Hospital and the Boulder police annex on the Downtown Mall.

Mrs. Spurgeon moved to Boulder from Estes Park in 1967.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Hayes of LaClede, Idaho; a sister, Shirley Spurgeon of Beaverton, Ore.; a stepsister, Marquetta Ladwig of Clarkston, Wash.; and her three adopted sons, Butch Howard of Longmont, Wayne Van Slyke of Estes Park and Larry Van Slyke of Moab, Utah.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David Spurgeon and Donny Spurgeon.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., Boulder.
