Audrey Mae Paul
Sept. 2, 1920 - Aug. 26, 1999

Audrey Mae Paul of Lafayette died of natural causes Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, in Louisville. She was 78.

She was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Donald Thomas and Mary A. Johnson Thomas. She married Robert Paul on Nov. 3, 1943, in Buffalo. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Paul was a postal worker, a secretary to the Boulder County Commissioners from 1965 to 1968 and worked in the Boulder County Clerk's office from 1968 to 1971.

She moved to Boulder County in 1964.

A 1938 graduate from Lafayette High School in Buffalo, she graduated from Taphagen School of Fashion in New York in 1941. She received a bachelor's degree in fine art and sociology from the University of Colorado 1974.

Mrs. Paul enjoyed doing calligraphy. She volunteered at St. Louis Catholic Church, the Caring Pregnancy Center and Avista Hospital from 1995 to 1998. She received an award for 1000 hours of volunteer work.

Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Beauprez of Lafayette; three sons, Greg Paul of Basalt, Jeffrey Paul of Belleville, Ill., and Clifford Paul of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Darrell Howe Chapel, 10203 S. Boulder Road, in Lafayette.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 tonight at St. Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Ave., Louisville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church.

Barbara J. Johnson

Sept. 4, 1927 - Aug. 26, 1999

Barbara J. Johnson of Broomfield died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Centura Health-Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville of pancreatic cancer. She was 71.

She was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Laramie, Wyo., to Alexander Dobby and Winifred Knadler Dobby. She married N. Gordon Johnson in 1949, in Denver. He died in January 1998.

She attended North High School and Barnes Business School in Denver. She worked at Montgomery Wards in the late 1940s and was a homemaker after her marriage.

Mrs. Johnson frequently served as an election judge in Jefferson County, was a volunteer librarian at Juchem Elementary in the 1960s and was a volunteer for several charitable organizations including the Broomfield Lionettes and the American Cancer Society. Later, she was the primary care giver for her daughter, Joy Gay, who has multiple sclerosis. She enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include two daughters, Joy Gay of Broomfield, and Jere Mock of Lafayette; and two sisters, Waneta Vine of Morrison and Georgina Spencer of Laramie.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Rundus Funeral Home, 1998 W. 10th Ave., Broomfield.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Rundus Funeral Home.

Jon Alan White
March 3, 1964 - Aug. 29, 1999

Jon Alan White of Longmont died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at home. He was 35.

He was born March 3, 1964, to Saundra Canterbury White and James White. He married Julie Nelson in 1985.

Mr. White was a musician and enjoyed sharing his dedication to music with family and friends. He became a master chessman at a young age and enjoyed teaching chess. He also became a wood craftsman, creating award-winning pieces, which he liked to give to others. He was a printer.

Survivors include his wife of Longmont; two daughters, Jenn White and Jacqui White of Longmont; his mother and stepfather, Saundra and Barry Sakamoto of Dominguez Hills, Calif.; father and stepmother, Jim and Irene White of Longmont; a sister, Tamra Schalakee of Dominguez Hills; four brothers, James White of Beaumont, Calif., Joseph White of Midland, Texas, and Greg White and Jay White, both of Longmont; his maternal grandmother, Mary Collins of Texas; and his step-grandmother, Blanche Nichols of West Virginia.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Erlinger Chapel, 2255 Mountain View Ave., Longmont.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to ARC, in care of Jim and Irene White, P.O. Box 1484, Longmont 80501 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ingeborg Fanny Haines
June 30, 1928 - Aug. 20, 1999

Ingeborg Fanny Haines of Boulder died Aug. 20, 1999. The cause of death is under investigation. She was 71.

She was born June 30, 1928, in Neunkirchen, Germany, to Fritz Lichtenstein and Irma Schloss Lichtenstein. She married Robert Haines in 1961, in Chicago.

Mrs. Haines was a homemaker. She moved to Boulder from Illinois in 1961.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; two sons, Barry Haines of Dover, N.J., and Bruce Haines of San Jose, Calif.; and three grandsons.

A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Congregation Har Hashem, 3950 Baseline Road, Boulder, with Rabbi Deborah Bronstein officiating. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Jewish Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.

Contributions may be made to Boulder County United Way, 2955 Baseline Road, Boulder 80303.

M.P. Murphy and Associates funeral directors is in charge of arrangements.

Vern V. Offerle
Feb. 13, 1919 - Aug. 31, 1999

Vern V. Offerle of Boulder died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, of cancer in Boulder. He was 80.

He was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Meeker to Lawrence Offerle and Bertha Rainey Offerle. He married Hermime Stadtman on Sept. 12, 1936, in Glenwood Springs.

Mr. Offerle was an electrical contractor.

He was a World War II veteran. He enjoyed music, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; four sons, Jack Offerle of Wyoming, Herb Offerle of Aurora, Ron Offerle of Glenwood Springs and Ted Offerle of Coal Creek; a daughter, Linda Gelger of Moscow, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stan Offerle; and two brothers, Tom Offerle and Jack Offerle.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

Anne C. Szczurek
Feb. 5, 1927 - Aug. 20, 1999

Anne C. Szczurek of Boulder and Cicero, Ill., died Aug. 20, 1999, of a stroke at Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, Ill. She was 72.

She was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Chicago to Anthony Potaniec and Antonette Janeczak Potaniec. She married Eugene "Happy" Szczurek on Jan. 24, 1948, in Chicago.

Mrs. Szczurek was a homemaker.

She belonged to Blue Army, Our Lady of Fatima, St. Casimar's Catholic War Veterans women's auxiliary, Polish National Alliance, St. Mary of Czestochowa Mother's Club and St. Mary Rosary Confraternity.

She was active in Golden West Retirement Community, Boulder civic activities, cooking, reading, shopping and volunteering with Colorado Business and Professional Women Foundation.

She graduated from St. Ann's High School in Chicago and was president of the senior class. She had lived in Boulder part time since 1989.

Survivors include her husband of Cicero; three daughters, Theresa Szczurek of Boulder, Janice Stachyra of Hillside, Ill., and Joyce Szczurek of Cicero; a son, Thomas Szczurek of Cleveland; a sister, Rose Koziol of Necedah, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Szczurek; two brothers; and a sister.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 in the penthouse of Golden West, 1050 Adams Circle, Boulder.

Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Ill.

RUTHANNA MCCOY EVANS

June 27, 1909 - Aug. 20, 1999

Ruthanna McCoy Evans of Duarte, Calif., formerly of Boulder, died on Aug. 20, 1999, in Duarte. She was 90.

She was born June 27, 1909, in Denver, to Frederick Eames and Florence Watson Eames. She married Abram A. McCoy in 1932 in Boulder. He died in 1961. She married the Rev. Ralph D. Evans in 1964 in Boulder. He died in 1996.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Mortar Board for scholastic achievement and of Kappa Kappa Gamma while attending the University of Colorado where she also lettered in basketball. She was active in Boulder's First Presbyterian Church and as Cub Scout leader. She lived in Boulder until the early 1990s.

Survivors include a son, Michael A. McCoy of Imperial Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Ann McCoy of New York; two stepsons, David Evans of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and James Evans of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., and a stepdaughter, Judith Greulich of Lakewood.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Green Mountain Cemetery, 20th and Baseline, Boulder.

Arrangements are being handled by Darrell Howe Mortuary of Lafayette.

Mary Ruth Chaney

Aug. 15, 1904 - Sept. 6, 1999

Mary Ruth Chaney of Longmont died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, in Longmont United Hospital. She was 95.

She was born Aug. 15, 1904, in Winchester, Ill., to Clarence McDonald and Lenora Ewing McDonald. She married Russell W. Chaney on Nov. 16, 1924, on the McDonald farm in Winchester, Ill. He died in 1975.

She attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill.

Mrs. Chaney moved to Longmont in November 1980 from Florissant, Mo.

She was devoted to promoting constitutional government and honesty and moral values in government.

She organized and promoted a patriotic organization in Longmont from 1993 to 1995 called The Citizens of the Republic.

She was a devoted member of Richmond Heights Presbyterian Church in Missouri, Salem Church of Florissant, Mo., and Christ Congregational Church of Longmont.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jean Davis of Longmont and Alice Krugman of Boulder; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Congregational Church, 1240 Francis St. in Longmont. The Rev. Ed Zimmerman of the church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St. in Longmont. Family will be present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Interment will be in Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont.

Aaron G. Rothmann

Feb. 11, 1978 - Sept. 1, 1999

Aaron G. Rothmann of Boulder died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Boulder County. He was 21.

He was born Feb. 11, 1978, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Terrence Rothmann and Sandra Van Landschoot.

He moved to Boulder in May 1998 from Wausau, Wis.

He was enrolled in the Ford Asset Management Program through Front Range Community College and employed at Landmark Lincoln/Mercury in Lakewood.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sandra and Michael Van Landschoot; father and stepmother, Terry and Karla Rothmann of Plover, Wis.; grandparents, Gordon and Joyce Rothmann of Eagle River, Wis.; three stepbrothers, Joseph Van Landschoot of Longmont and Ben and Chris Bouchet of Plover, Wis.; six stepsisters, Sally Brown of Aurora, Jane Woods of Boulder, Katherine Zuetell of Lafayette, Patricia Van Landschoot of Superior, Wis., Ann Van Landschoot of Boulder; and Jessica Bouchette of Plover, Wis.

Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder. Services also will be held in Wausau, at a later date.
