Archie C. McCoy
May 25, 1911 - Nov. 7, 1999

Archie C. McCoy of Boulder died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at home. He was 88.

He was born May 25, 1911, in Lebanon, Kan., to Arthur W. McCoy and Tula Gregory McCoy. He married Maude Simmons on June 29, 1946, in Colorado Springs. They were divorced in 1963. He married Marguerite McCoy in Kansas in 1964.

He was a heavy equipment operator for highway construction. He served in the Army in Africa and Europe during World War II, from May 1943 to October 1945.

Mr. McCoy moved to Colorado in 1919. He returned to Kansas in 1950 and to Boulder in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia D. Oneill of Las Vegas; a sister, Mildred Proctor of Boulder; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both wives; a sister; a brother; and a daughter, Corrine L. McCoy.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

Interment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.

Ann Leigh Minturn
July 1, 1928 - Oct. 31, 1999

Ann Leigh Minturn of Boulder died in the crash of EgyptAir 990 on Oct. 31, 1999. She was 71.

She was born July 1, 1928, in Chicago, to Harold D. Minturn and Emma Hamsher Minturn. She married Harry Triandis in the 1950s. They were divorced.

She graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in 1949, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated from Radcliffe College in 1952 and earned her doctorate at Radcliffe in 1954.

She was a social psychologist. She began her career as a research associate at Cornell University from 1954 to 1958. She was on the faculty at the University of Illinois from 1958 to 1967 and at the University of Colorado as a professor of psychology from 1967 to 1997. She retired in 1997. She was professor emerita in CU's Department of Psychology.

She studied women's and children's issues from a cross-cultural perspective. Much of her most important work reflected data from her longitudinal study of women in India and was reported in two books, "Mothers of Six Cultures: Antecedents of Child Rearing" and "Sita's Daughters: Coming Out of Purdah." She also co-wrote with W. Lambert, "The Raiputs of Khalapur."

She was a fellow of the American Psychological Association, past president of the Society of Cross-Cultural Research, a member of the Association of Fulbright Fellows, the American Anthropological Association and the Indian Peaks Chapter, Colorado Archeological Society. After retiring, she wrote, volunteered with the Indian Peaks Chapter of the Colorado Archeological Society and traveled.

There are no survivors except for her many friends and colleagues.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 10, at Old Main Chapel at CU. A reception will follow at 7 p.m. in the Heritage Center on the third floor of Old Main.

JOHN STEWART DORRENBACHER

May 3, 1940 - Nov. 8, 1999

John Stewart Dorrenbacher of Boulder died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at his home. He was 59.
He was born May 3, 1940, in Sterling, to John A. Dorrenbacher and Mary Stewart Dorrenbacher.

Mr. Dorrenbacher worked for the Republican Party headquarters in Denver.

He was a lieutenant in the Navy from 1963 to 1972. He served on the USS Groper submarine out of Naples, Italy. He was also stationed in San Diego, Calif.

He graduated from high school in Akron, Colo., in 1958. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor of science in engineering physics, and in 1972, he returned to CU and received a combined degree in applied mathematics and business administration.

He lived in Boulder since 1972.

Survivors include a brother, William Dorrenbacher of Akron, and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Stephens Dorrenbacher.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder, with the Rev. John Hess officiating.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Akron Cemetery in Akron.

Contributions may be made to the John Stewart Dorrenbacher Memorial Fund, in care of Heritage Bank, 2775 Pearl St., Boulder, CO 80302.

Yeamans and Gordon Memorial Chapel of Akron is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today an the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder, with the Rev. John Hess officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Akron Cemetery in Akron, Colo.

Cordelia Fentress Lynn
June 15, 1921 - Nov. 10, 1999
Cordelia Fentress Lynn of Louisville died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in Boulder. She was 78.

Margaret L. Clopton
Aug. 7, 1912 - Nov. 11, 1999

Margaret L. Clopton of Boulder died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Hospice of Boulder County Care Center in Louisville. She was 87.

She was born Aug. 7, 1912, to George L. Davis and Elizabeth Blue Davis in Minneapolis. She married John R. Clopton in 1934 in Wheat Ridge. They later divorced.

Mrs. Clopton came to Boulder from Minneapolis in 1950. She was a nurse for 25 years at Boulder Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Boulder.

Survivors include a son, John C. Clopton of Charlottesville, Va.; a daughter, Louise Nason-Clopton of Glenwood Springs; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, 1401 Spruce St., Boulder.

John S. Hunnes
May 30, 1915 - Nov. 14, 1999

John S. Hunnes of Boulder died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in Boulder. He was 84.

He was born May 30, 1915, in Butte, Mont., to Burt Hunnes and Barbara Schemer Hunnes. He married Olive Dickson on Sept. 15, 1945, in Billings, Mont.

Mr. Hunnes moved to Boulder in 1997 from Houston.

He worked for Exxon for 39 years as a tax accountant in Billings, Tulsa, Okla., and Houston. He was involved in wood working and cattle ranching. He also did home construction.

He was a member of the Optimist Club and was a president for the club in Billings, Tulsa and Houston.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a son, Bob Hunnes of Boulder; a daughter, Ruby Dehls of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Howe Mortuary Chapel.

A service will be at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., Boulder.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, 1820 15th St.

Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder, CO 80302.

Vester 'Ves' Albert Overfelt
July 6, 1912 - Nov. 12, 1999

Vester "Ves" Albert Overfelt of Longmont died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999. He was 87.

He was born July 6, 1912, in Randolf County, Mo., to Frederick Overfelt and Minnie Roberts Overfelt. He married Dorothy Oreta "Rita" Wood in July 1934 in Mexico, Mo. She died in 1989

Mr. Overfelt worked as a ranch foreman for the VanVleet Ranch in Boulder, the Bighorn Cattle Co. in Cowdrey County and the Wyoming Hereford Ranch. He later was head of the Boulder County Road Maintenance Department.

He moved to Boulder County in 1944. He was actively associated with rodeo and was honored by the Longmont Old Timers in 1988 as its "Special Old Timer."

Survivors include a son, Joseph W. Overfelt of Springtown, Texas; two stepbrothers, John Patrick of Berthoud and Joe Patrick of Lander, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two sons and one brother.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the mortuary chapel. Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.

Donald O. Brightbill
Oct. 25, 1919 - Nov. 12, 1999

Donald O. Brightbill of Boulder died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, in Boulder. He was 80.

He was born Oct. 25, 1919, in Shamokin, N.J., to Jonathon Brightbill and Rosanna Long Brightbill. He married Helen Koszowski on Nov. 8, 1975, in Warren, N.J.

Mr. Brightbill was a sheet metal mechanic in the food service industry.

He lived in Boulder for 10 years, coming from Florida. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington, N.J., the Presbyterian Church in Boundbrook, N.J., and the Middlesex, N.J., Elks Lodge. Mr. Brightbill enjoyed working with his hands.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; two sons, Donald Brightbill of Bridgewater, N.J., and Gary Brightbill of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.
