Lorraine J. Nelson
Dec. 7, 1927 - Nov. 17, 1999

Lorraine J. Nelson of Boulder died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, in Boulder. She was 71.

She was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Waukesha, Wis., to Henry Wallschlaeger and Lillian Gable Wallschlaeger. She married Paul Nelson on Sept. 15, 1950, in the Little Brown Church in Nasaua, Iowa.

Mrs. Nelson worked as an admitting clerk for Memorial Hospital for 15 years before retiring in 1988.

She lived in Orange, Calif. from 1952 to 1957, and Rochester, Minn., from 1957 to1965. She moved to Boulder in 1965. She enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; three daughters, Jody Raides of Louisville, Patti Scott of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Peggy Koltz of Superior; a son, David Nelson of Sydney, Australia; three brothers; three sisters; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Nelson, in 1951; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2200 Broadway, Boulder, officiated by the Revs. Mark Twietmeyer and Vera Guebert-Steward of the church. Interment will be in Green Mountain Cemetery.

Charles R. Bottinelli
July 10, 1908 - Nov. 18, 1999

Charles R. Bottinelli of Longmont died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont. He was 91.

The son of Angelo Bottinelli and Maria Carone Bottinelli, he was born July 10, 1908, in Louisville. He married Ada Pellillo on Sept. 3, 1939.

He attended school in Louisville until going to work in area coal mines. He worked as a check weighman at the Centennial and Industrial Mines, as a surface foreman at the Vulcan mine in Lafayette and as an assistant mine clerk at the Columbine, Standard and Industrial mines.

Following a mining accident, Mr. Bottinelli worked for the Mead and Mount Construction Company.

In 1941, he moved to Longmont, where he worked for the Boulder County Highway Department, District 2. In 1942, he became a patrolman for the Longmont Police Department; he was promoted to sergeant in 1945 and to deputy police chief in 1951. He retired in 1967. He served as a truant officer in the St. Vrain School District and as president of the North Eastern Police Association.

In 1967, Mr. Bottinelli became a captain for the Boulder County Sheriff's Department Jail Division and Communications Department. From 1971 to 1977, he worked in office management for Boulder County Road District 3.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Tri City Elks No. 2541.

In the early 1930s, Mr. Bottinelli was a city councilman in Louisville. He served as fire chief, secretary and treasurer for the Louisville Fire Department. He also was a member of both the Fire Pension Board and the Past Fire Chief's Club.

Survivors include his wife of Longmont; two sons, Charles Bottinelli of Littleton and Robert Bottinelli of Grand Blanc, Mich.; two sisters, Stella Giorzelli and Dolinda DiFrancia, both of Louisville; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Visitations will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont. The family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St., Longmont. The Rev. Brian Morrow will officiate. Burial will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery, 3405 Penrose Place.

Contributions may be sent to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, or to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Elizabeth Rossetti
Jan. 22, 1907 - Nov. 21, 1999

Elizabeth Rossetti of Frederick died Nov. 21, 1999, at Hospice of Boulder County Care Center in Louisville. She was 92.

She was born Jan. 22, 1907, in Berwin to Peter DelGuidice and Angela DeSantis DelGuidice. She married Rocco Rossetti in Cansano, Italy, on Dec. 10, 1922.

Mrs. Rossetti was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Frederick. She had moved with her family to Italy in 1908, and back to Berwin in 1938.

Survivors include four daughters, Dora Villani of Frederick, Penny Rossetti of Denver, Mary Barnes of Wheat Ridge, and Diana Helbig of Dallas, Texas; a son, Vince Rossetti of Westminster; a sister, Lauretta DiPaulo of New York; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Angela Chioda; a grandson, Rocky Rossetti; and three brothers, Frank DelGuidice, Dan DelGuidice, and Nick DelGuidice.

Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 436 5th St., Frederick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Frederick with the Rev. Timothy Gaines as celebrant. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, 620 11th St., Longmont.

Howe Mortuary of Longmont is handling arrangements.

George W. Rowe Sr.
May 21, 1921 - Nov. 20, 1999

George W. Rowe Sr. of Boulder died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, in Louisville. He was 78.

He was born May 21, 1921, in Dayton, Ohio, to Charles Rowe Sr. and Helen Merkle Rowe. He married Kathryn Koontz on Sept. 18, 1948, in Dayton.

Mr. Rowe worked for Watts Hardy Dairy as an ice cream maker until his retirement in 1983.

He graduated from high school in Dayton, and moved to Boulder in 1962, from Dayton.

He was a member of BPOE No. 566 of Boulder; a past master of Columbia Lodge No. 14 A.F.& A.M.; and a lifetime member of Queen Esther Chapter No. 5 O.E.S. He enjoyed bowling, sports and cars.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a daughter, Lois Thompson of Lafayette; a son, Bill Rowe of Colorado Springs; a sister, Betty Jones of Brookville, Ohio; a brother, Charles Rowe Jr. of Brookville; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Rowe and Elmer Rowe.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at Crist Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder. Cremation has occurred.

James Roy Shafer
Dec. 11, 1929 - Nov. 21, 1999

James Roy Shafer of Broomfield died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at St. Anthony's Central Hospital in Denver. He was 69.

He was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Ellery D. Shafer and Dorothy Hunter Shafer. He married Jeannine M. Bronele on June 22, 1952.

Mr. Shafer worked as a meat packer and route salesman for for Swift and Co. for 17 years. He sold insurance briefly for Equitable of Iowa, before becoming a manager for Broomfield Ace Hardware. He retired in 1992.

He was a member of Liberty Lodge No. 150 A.F. & A.M. before transferring his membership to Mosaic Lodge No. 184 A.F. & A.M. He was honored with the Cross of Honor and Legion of Honor for his service. He was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Broomfield. He also volunteered to drive the Broomfield Emergency Ambulance Service for nearly 15 years. He was active in community service throughout his lifetime.

Survivors include his wife of Broomfield; a daughter, Stephanie A. Adams of Longmont; a son, Timothy L. Shafer of Grand Junction; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Shafer in 1956.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of Hope, 1305 W. 10 Ave., Broomfield.

Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 6600 South Colorado Blvd., Denver.

Dolores M. Czapran
Nov. 27, 1923 - Nov. 20, 1999

Dolores M. Czapran of Longmont died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at her home. She was 75.

She was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Detroit, to Delbert Raymond and Clara Wrosch Raymond. She married Walter Peter Czapran on April 29, 1944, in Detroit.

Mrs. Czapran moved to Longmont in 1986 from Michigan.

She spent time in both Germany and Japan.

Survivors include a son, Walter Czapran Jr. of Longmont; a daughter, Cynthia Stuckey of Savannah, Ga.; a brother, Delbert Raymond of Plymouth, Mich.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986, and a sister, Mildred Burkhardt.

A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St., Longmont. The Rev. Brian Morrow will officiate.

Interment will follow the Mass at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area D, Denver.

Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Boulder County, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Jack R. Myers
Nov. 12, 1914 - Oct. 29, 1999

Jack R. Myers of Santa Cruz, Calif., formerly of Boulder, died Oct. 29, 1999, in Santa Cruz. He was 84.

He was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Omaha, Neb., to John R. Myers and Elizabeth Wendt Myers. He married Phyllis H. Pierce on Dec. 4, 1935, in Omaha, Neb. She died on Dec. 14, 1982.

Mr. Myers worked for the Daily Camera as a linotype operator from 1951 to 1981.

He graduated from Tech High School in Omaha, Neb. He lived in Boulder from 1951 to 1981. He was a member of Masons Boulder Lodge No. 45 and was past master of it.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline Myers of Lafayette; two sons, Robert Myers of Milpitas, Calif., and Wood Myers of Denver; a sister, Dotty Brown of Covington, La.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation has occurred.

The Neptune Society of San Jose, Calif., was in charge of arrangements.

J.D. Raper
April 18, 1914 - Nov. 4, 1999

J.D. Raper of Stillwater, Okla., and a former Boulder County resident, died Nov. 4, 1999, in Stillwater. He was 85.

He was born April 18, 1914, in Italy, Texas, to Charlie Russell Raper and Mary Elizabeth Sholars Raper. He married Nancy Grace Franklin on Nov. 21, 1936, in Cushing, Okla.

Mr. Raper moved to Boulder County in 1959.

He attended schools in Texas and Council Valley, Okla.

He was a farmer, and he did bridge construction in Colorado, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Mr. Raper was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Steamboat Springs.

He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of Stillwater; two daughters, Joy Jensen of Boulder and Marylyn Sears of Glencoe, Okla.; three brothers, Russell Raper of Muskogee, Okla., Clyde Raper of Stillwater and Dan Raper of Drumright, Okla.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held.

Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Stillwater handled arrangements.
