Ingeborg Fanny Haines
June 30, 1928 - Aug. 20, 1999

Ingeborg Fanny Haines of Boulder died Aug. 20, 1999. The cause of death is under investigation. She was 71.

She was born June 30, 1928, in Neunkirchen, Germany, to Fritz Lichtenstein and Irma Schloss Lichtenstein. She married Robert Haines in 1961, in Chicago.

Mrs. Haines was a homemaker. She moved to Boulder from Illinois in 1961.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; two sons, Barry Haines of Dover, N.J., and Bruce Haines of San Jose, Calif.; and three grandsons.

A memorial service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Congregation Har Hashem, 3950 Baseline Road, Boulder, with Rabbi Deborah Bronstein officiating. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Jewish Cemetery in Hillside, Ill.

Contributions may be made to Boulder County United Way, 2955 Baseline Road, Boulder 80303.

Vern V. Offerle
Feb. 13, 1919 - Aug. 31, 1999

Vern V. Offerle of Boulder died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, of cancer in Boulder. He was 80.

He was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Meeker to Lawrence Offerle and Bertha Rainey Offerle. He married Hermime Stadtman on Sept. 12, 1936, in Glenwood Springs.

Mr. Offerle was an electrical contractor.

He was a World War II veteran. He enjoyed music, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; four sons, Jack Offerle of Wyoming, Herb Offerle of Aurora, Ron Offerle of Glenwood Springs and Ted Offerle of Coal Creek; a daughter, Linda Gelger of Moscow, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stan Offerle; and two brothers, Tom Offerle and Jack Offerle.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

Anne C. Szczurek
Feb. 5, 1927 - Aug. 20, 1999

Anne C. Szczurek of Boulder and Cicero, Ill., died Aug. 20, 1999, of a stroke at Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, Ill. She was 72.

She was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Chicago to Anthony Potaniec and Antonette Janeczak Potaniec. She married Eugene "Happy" Szczurek on Jan. 24, 1948, in Chicago.

Mrs. Szczurek was a homemaker.

She belonged to Blue Army, Our Lady of Fatima, St. Casimar's Catholic War Veterans women's auxiliary, Polish National Alliance, St. Mary of Czestochowa Mother's Club and St. Mary Rosary Confraternity.

She was active in Golden West Retirement Community, Boulder civic activities, cooking, reading, shopping and volunteering with Colorado Business and Professional Women Foundation.

She graduated from St. Ann's High School in Chicago and was president of the senior class. She had lived in Boulder part time since 1989.

Survivors include her husband of Cicero; three daughters, Theresa Szczurek of Boulder, Janice Stachyra of Hillside, Ill., and Joyce Szczurek of Cicero; a son, Thomas Szczurek of Cleveland; a sister, Rose Koziol of Necedah, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Szczurek; two brothers; and a sister.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 in the penthouse of Golden West, 1050 Adams Circle, Boulder.

Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Ill.

Holly J. Conklin
Dec. 24, 1954 - Nov. 29, 1999

Holly J. Conklin of Boulder died of breast cancer Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at home. She was 44.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1954, in Hollywood, Fla., to Charles M. Conklin and W. Jean Krause Conklin.

She was a certified court reporter and owner of Conklin Court Reporting.

She graduated from Bloomington High School in Bloomington, Ill. She moved to Colorado in 1979 and lived in Denver, Greeley and Golden before moving to Boulder in 1989.

She was a member of the Community United Church of Christ of Boulder and was a violinist with the Timberline Symphony Orchestra.

Survivors include her father of Goodfield, Ill.; her mother of Winnetka, Calif.; two sisters, Charlotte Wynne of Topanga, Calif., and Rebecca Conklin of Seattle; and a son, Travis Conklin of Boulder.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. today at the Community United Church of Christ, 2650 Table Mesa Drive, Boulder, with the Rev. Ginger Taylor officiating. Services will conclude at the church.

Roy Wayne Isaacs
Aug. 1, 1921 - Nov. 18, 1999

Roy Wayne Isaacs of Boulder died Nov. 18, 1999, at Boulder Community Hospital. He was 78.

He was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Sessler, Ill., to Roy Isaacs and Minnie Opal Loucks Isaacs. He married Marjorie Presswood on Sept. 26, 1943.

Mr. Isaacs was a U.S. Navy Hellcat pilot during Word War II. During his career as a psychologist, he was published numerous times for his groundbreaking studies in behavior modification. He eventually became the administrator of the Anna State Mental Hospital in Illinois.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and a son, Larry Wayne Isaacs.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a brother, James Raymond Isaacs of Boulder; two sisters, Lucille Wuebbeis and Norma Jean Sticka, both of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter, Sarah Cynthia Brooks of Boulder; and two grandchildren.

A memorial open house will from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at his daughter's home.

William Douglas Green
March 26, 1947 - Nov. 28, 1999

William Douglas Green of Superior died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999. He was 52.

He was born March 26, 1947, to Paul Green and Elva Kelly Green in Magnolia, Ark. He married Marci Speer on Sept. 23, 1967, in Arkansas. They later divorced.

He was an oil and gas accountant and an independent business owner.

Mr. Green received a bachelor's degree from South Arkansas University.

He enjoyed teaching cooking classes and playing tennis and the drums. He moved to Rock Creek in August.

Survivors include a son, Russ Green of Denver; a daughter, Shannon Derby of Boulder; and a grandson.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Colorado Community Church in Englewood.

Anna May Wright
July 19, 1930 - Sept. 12, 2000

Anna May Wright of Boulder died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Boulder Community Hospital. She was 70.

Born July 19, 1930, in Black Hawk, she was the daughter of Charles Wilson and Frances A. McGinnis Wilson. She married Paul Wright on Feb. 14, 1954, in Denver. They divorced.

She was a homemaker. She moved from Jacksonville, Fla., to the Boulder area in 1991.

She was a Catholic.

Survivors include a son, Edward Wright of Boulder; three daughters, Debora Ann Rude of Longmont, Cindy May Streitz of Loomis, Calif., and Betty Truleen Cain of Broomfield; six brothers, Eddie Wilson of Grand Rapids, Minn., Billy McNamara, Larry McNamara and David McNamara, all of Arizona, Freddie McNamara of Fremont, Calif., Bobby McNamara of Bangor, Calif.; and three sisters, Phyllis McNamara of Denver, Mary McNamara of Arizona and Betty Lou Mandler of Clearfield, Utah.

Private family memorial services will be held.

Douglas Byron Armstrong
March 17, 1918 - Sept. 16, 2000

Douglas Byron Armstrong of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and formerly of Boulder, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000. He was 82.

The son of Byron Alen Armstrong and Gertrude McKibbon Armstrong, he was born March 17, 1918, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He married Ruth Publow in Toronto, Canada, on Feb. 1, 1947.

He received his master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto.

He worked as an electronics engineer for Bell Laboratories in Boulder.

He lived in Boulder from 1971 to 1997.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Peter; two daughters, Elizabeth and Martha; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robin.

Maxine Hulse
July 31, 1947 - Aug. 30, 2000

Maxine Hulse of Auburn, Wash., formerly of Boulder, died of cancer Aug. 30, 2000, in Auburn. She was 53.

The daughter of Max Hutteball and Gwen Ruhaak,, she was born July 31, 1947, in Pasco, Wash. She married Jerl Watkins in November 1965 in Las Vegas. They divorced in 1994. She married Rodney Hulse in Juneau, Alaska, in 1996.

She left Washington for California when she was 3. She attended school in Boulder as a teenager. She lived in California until 1990, when she moved to Juneau and later moved to Washington.

Survivors include her husband of Auburn; her mother and stepfather, Don Ruhaak of Denver; her father of Idaho; her grandmother, Florence Ackerman of Boulder; a son, Josef Watkins of Idaho; a daughter, Mellisa Reiss of Oklahoma; two sisters, Marlene Kelly of Morro Bay, Calif., and Marilyn Middleton of San Jose, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder.
