April R. Austerman Peil
Feb. 18, 1955-Sept. 16, 2000

April R. Austerman Peil of Boulder died of natural causes on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000. She was 45.

The daughter of Kenneth LeRoy Austerman and Roberta Gibbs Austerman, she was born Feb. 18, 1955, in Anchorage, Alaska. She married Gary Peil in Wiesbadden, Germany, in 1973.

She was employed by Ball Aerospace in Astro Physics. She attended Sedro Wooley High School in Sedro Wooley, Wash. She had a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of California, San Diego.

She moved to Boulder from San Diego in 1990.

She enjoyed skiing, sewing, quilting and photography.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; a son, Shannon, of Boulder; her father of Napa Valley, Calif.; her mother of Leesburg, Fla.; two sisters, Heather Quintini of Sliddell, La., and Lisa Vaz of Myersville, Md.; a half-brother, Kevin Austerman of Longmont; and two stepbrothers.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

Anita Burns
Aug. 29, 1925 - June 19, 2000

Anita Burns of Boulder died Monday, June 19, 2000. She was 74.

Born Aug. 29, 1925, in Kewanee, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph Marshall and Ida VerPlaetse Marshall. She married Donald "Bud" Burns on April 29, 1950, in Cambridge, Ill.

A homemaker, she moved to Boulder from Kewanee in 1966.

Mrs. Burns enjoyed playing golf, fishing, traveling and camping.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; a son, Kyle Burns of Fort Smith, Ark.; a daughter, Debbie Gerk of Orlando, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart of Mary Church, 6739 South Boulder Road, Boulder. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Hospice of Boulder County, 2825 Marine St., Boulder, CO 80303.

George Goldthwaite
Dec. 7, 1907 - June 18, 2000

George Goldthwaite of Niwot died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in Boulder. He was 92.

The son of George T. Goldthwaite and Lena Wier Goldthwaite, he was born Dec. 7, 1907, in Portland, Ore. He married Elizabeth Steen on Nov. 11, 1933, in Portland.

He was a Presbyterian chaplain at the University of Colorado and was chairman of the Governor's Commission for Senior Services for the State of Oregon.

He attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill., and McCormick Theological Seminary.

Mr. Goldthwaite lived in Boulder from 1949 to 1961, moved to Eugene, Ore., then moved to Niwot in 1998.

He enjoyed playing golf.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; two daughters, Janice Peters of Tallahassee, Fla., and Becky Goldthwaite of Niwot; a son, George Goldthwaite of Eugene; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.

Robert Earle Moore
May 27, 1912 - June 17, 2000

Robert Earle Moore of Longmont died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Life Care Center of Longmont. He was 88.

The son of Harry Moore and Mabel Peden Moore, he was born May 27, 1912, in Platteville. He married Laura L. Simmons on Feb. 14, 1937, in Longmont.

A 1930 graduate of Erie High School, where he played basketball and baseball, he moved with his wife to the family farm in 1938. In addition to farming and running a dairy, he worked from December 1941 through March 1967 in area coal mines, including the Washington, Baum, Sterling and Imperial mines.

Mr. Moore was a member of the Rinn United Methodist Church, the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1055 in Longmont and the United Mine Workers Local No. 5909. He was involved in 4-H, grange, school and civic activities. He enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing and raised quarter horses.

Survivors include his wife of Longmont; a son, R. Duane Moore of Fountain; two daughters, Mardell Burkholder of Aspen and Donna Allen of Littleton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Rinn United Methodist Church, 3783 Weld County Road 20, Longmont. The Revs. Warren Napier and Kay Marsh will officiate. Cremation was held.

Contributions may be made to the Robert E. Moore Memorial Fund to be used for a future park on the Moore Family Farm, in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Orpha Jane Warner
Aug. 15, 1905 - June 20, 2000

Orpha Jane Warner of Boulder died Tuesday, June 20, 2000. She was 94.

The daughter of Robert L. Blair and Ida M. Hulsopple Blair, she was born Aug. 15, 1905, in Scranton, Kan. She married Rufard E. Warner in 1925 in Kansas. He died Jan. 27, 1985.

Mrs. Warner was a homemaker. She moved to Boulder from Kansas in 1925.

Survivors included two daughters, Doris M. Parker of Sneads Ferry, N.C., and Roberta A. Kirkpatrick of Denver; a son, Richard E. "Dick" Warner of Boulder; a sister, Elva Gagnebin of Arkansas City, Kan.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Howe Mortuary in Boulder.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Memorial Park, Boulder. The Rev. Bill Youngblood will officiate.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Boulder County in care of Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder, CO 80302.

Helen Louise Alden
Sept. 26, 1931 - July 18, 2000

Helen Louise Alden of Boulder died Tuesday, July 18, 2000. She was 68.

Born Sept. 26, 1931, in Brussels, Belgium, she was the daughter of Abraham C. VanPuffelen and Irma E. Lindenmeyer VanPuffelen. She married Stan Mullen in 1951. They divorced in 1975. She married Paul Alden on Sept. 13, 1975, in Boulder.

She moved to Boulder in 1971.

Mrs. Alden worked as a pediatric nurse at Boulder Community Hospital. She enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; son, Steve Mullen of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Lynn Tidd of Boulder and Rebecca Mullen of Omaha, Neb.; brother, Paul VanPuffelen of Deluth, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 5 at Crestview Christian Reform Church, 3665 Madison Ave., Boulder. The Rev. Gene Allen will officiate.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Boulder County, 2825 Marine St., Boulder, CO 80303-7740.

Bernice 'Bunny' Comstock
March 2, 1913 - July 22, 2000

Bernice "Bunny" Comstock of Allenspark, formerly of Longmont, died Saturday, July 22, 2000. She was 87.

Born March 2, 1913, in Longmont, she was the daughter of Irwin Lambright and Eliza Ryan Lambright. She married George A. Comstock on July 24, 1936, in Boulder.

She graduated from the University of Colorado.

Mrs. Comstock worked as a teacher before retiring. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and Daughters of the American Revolution and was an artist.

Survivors include her husband of Allenspark; a son, Jack of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Alison Anne Baldwin of Boise, Idaho; two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Inurnment service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder.

Erlinger Cremation and Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.

Jerry W. Dickerson
July 21, 1938 - July 20, 2000

Jerry W. Dickerson of Louisville died Thursday, July 20, 2000. He was 61.

Born July 21, 1938, in Lyons, Kan., he was the son of John J. Dickerson and Marjorie Janssen Dickerson. He married Linda Maudry in 1958. They divorced. He married Sherry Tegman in 1981 in Greeley.

Mr. Dickerson graduated from Emporia State College in Kansas.

He worked as a house inspector for State Farm Insurance and worked for Montford of Colorado. He moved to Louisville in 1978.

Survivors include his wife of Louisville; father of Shawnee, Okla.; two sons, Tim Dickerson and Jason Dickerson both of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Judy Moody of Shawnee, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Private services were held.

Contributions may be made to the Tisone Cancer Center at Boulder Community Hospital, 1100 Balsam St., Boulder, CO 80304.

Angela 'Angie' Kohl
Sept. 24, 1907 - July 22, 2000

Angela "Angie" Kohl of Longmont died Saturday, July 22, 2000. She was 92.

She was born Sept. 24, 1907, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Natale Piccoli and Concepta Nobili Piccoli. She married Walter E. Percy in 1940. He died in 1985. She married Alfred J. Kohl on Feb. 27, 1987, in Florida.

Mrs. Kohl lived in Longmont most of her life. She worked as a hostess at the Pennsylvania State House.

She enjoyed dancing and was involved with the Longmont Senior Center.

Survivors include her husband of Longmont; stepson, Richard Kohl of Allenspark; stepdaughter, Bonnie Olsen of Greeley; five step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Susanna W. Twomey and Lina Stidworthy.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rocky Mountain Christian Center, 9447 Niwot Road, Longmont. The Rev. Alan Ahlgrim will officiate.
