Edwin Farnham Brown
July 29, 1933 - June 18, 2000

Edwin Farnham Brown of Louisville, formerly of Longmont, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in Pitkin County. He was 66.

The son of Joseph R. Brown and Etta E. Trimble Brown, he was born July 29, 1933, in Pine Ridge, S.D. He married Patty Winslow in Longmont in 1980.

He graduated from high school and attended barber college. He served in the Air Force and worked as a barber.

Mr. Brown enjoyed playing pool and received a certificate as a Colorado Pioneer.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Brown of Louisville; and three sisters, Adele Treis of Seattle and Florence Hogen and Doris Rock, both of Kadoka, S.D.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Brown.

Services are private.

Erlinger Cremation and Funeral Service is handling arrangements.

Robert W. Frailey Jr.
May 21, 1944 - June 13, 2000

Robert W. Frailey Jr. of Boulder died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Boulder Community Hospital. He was 46.

The son of Robert W. Frailey Sr. and Lola B. McDowell Frailey, he was born May 21, 1944, in Cave In Rock, Ill. He married Sylvia Lestrelle on Oct. 15, 1981, in Hygiene.

Mr. Frailey served in the Navy for six years during the Vietnam War. He worked for Sears for 15 years and for the Regional Transportation District as a driver for 25 years until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; his mother of Illinois; three brothers, Bobby Frailey and George Frailey, both of California, and William Frailey of Illinois; four stepchildren, Kirk, Chantey, Natasha and Liana; and five grandchildren.

Private services were held.

Rundus Broomfield Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Preston Scott Pontillo
Feb. 11, 1976 - June 17, 2000

Preston Scott Pontillo of Boulder died Saturday, June 17, 2000, in Boulder. He was 24.
Born Feb. 11, 1976, in Hartford, Conn., he was the son of Richard Pontillo and Carmen Marrero Pontillo.

A 1992 graduate of Fairview High School, he attended Front Range Community College and was a full-time student in architectural design at the University of Colorado. He moved to Boulder in 1990.

Mr. Pontillo enjoyed rock climbing, mountain biking, motorcycle riding, body building and sky diving.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather Brian Hall of Harrison, Idaho; his father and stepmother Diane Pontillo of Avon, Conn.; a sister, Cara Pontillo of Manhattan, N.Y.; a brother, Richard Pontillo of Boulder; and a stepbrother, John Hall of Harrison.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Avalon Chapel.

Manuel Rios
June 4, 1930 - June 18, 2000

Manuel Rios of Lafayette died Sunday, June 18, 2000, in Boulder. He was 70.
He was born June 4, 1930, in Mexico to Juan Rios and Adelida Martinez Rios. He married Augustina Cruz in 1946 in Mexico City.

He moved to Lafayette in 1996 from California. Mr. Rios was retired and enjoyed watching boxing.

Survivors include his wife of Lafayette; four daughters, Rosa Maria Rios of Westminster, Laura Rios of Mexico City, Leticia Rios of Broomfield and Silvana Rios of Lafayette; a son, Francisco Rios of Lafayette; two brothers and a sister, all of Mexico City; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

Tracy Kay Cole Dycus
Sept. 5, 1955 - July 17, 2000

Tracy Kay Cole Dycus of Houston, Texas, formerly of Boulder, died at home Monday, July 17, 2000. She was 44.

Born Sept. 5, 1955, in Boulder, she was the daughter of Arthur B. Cole Sr. and Sadie Louise Johnson Cole. She married William Michael Dycus in Fort Collins on July 17, 1991.

She attended Boulder High School and lived in Boulder until 1996.

Mrs. Dycus loved horseback riding, music, picnics and dancing.

Survivors include her husband of Houston; and two brothers, Walter "Rocky" Stone of Lafayette and Arthur B. Cole Jr. of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Vicky Jo Cole, and a brother, Bryce Thomas Cole.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Lafayette, 200 W. Cleveland St. The Rev. John Kemper will officiate.

Marat Karpeisky
Sept. 8, 1929 - July 18, 2000

Marat Karpeisky of Boulder died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, in Boulder. He was 70.

The son of Yakov L. Karpeisky and Sophia V. Rossinskaya Karpeisky, he was born Sept. 8, 1929, in Kharkov, USSR. He married Elena Arshavsky. They divorced. He married Nelli Sh Kostyanovskaya in Moscow in 1996.

He was an internationally recognized authority on enzyme and Vitamin B6 chemistry.

Mr. Karpeisky immigrated to the United States and to Boulder in 1993.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a son, Alexander Karpeisky of Lafayette; a daughter, Julia Karpeisky of McLean, Va.; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1995 and a brother, Yuri Karpeisky, in 1994.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

A memorial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Howe Mortuary Chapel. Rabbi Tiersa Firestone will officiate.

Interment will be at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder.

Howe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Charles C. Leinweber
June 28, 1922 - June 20, 2000

Charles C. Leinweber of Niwot died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in Boulder. He was 77.

Born June 28, 1922, in Longmont, he was the son of Henry Leinweber and Matilda Kammerzell Leinweber. He married Idell Kneale on July 3, 1943, in Sydney, Neb.

Mr. Leinweber farmed in Niwot until 1969, then worked for the city of Longmont until his retirement in 1983. He was a past noble grand of the Odd Fellows, a member of the Mead Fishing Club, a charter member and past president of the Longmont Gem and Mineral Club, and a member of the Longmont VFW post.

Survivors include his wife of Niwot; two sons, Charles A. Leinweber of Troy, Mich., and Richard N. Leinweber of Littleton; three sisters, Emma Eddy and Bernice Heldt, both of Longmont, and Esther Proctor of Englewood; two brothers, Paul Leinweber of Boulder and D. Richard Leinweber of Longmont; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hank, George and Fred Leinweber; and five sisters, Lillian Tatu, Pauline Newman, Helen Bloom, Elsie Patterson and Elva Henke.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the mortuary chapel. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 3016 Kalmia, Boulder.

John K. McLees
April 7, 1918 - June 20, 2000

John K. McLees of Boulder died Tuesday, June 20, 2000. He was 82.

The son of Ralph McLees and Maybl McKenzie McLees, he was born April 7, 1918, in Winterset, Iowa. He married Elizabeth W. Gordon in Winterset on Aug. 31, 1948.

Mr. McLees was a rancher in Iowa before moving to Boulder in 1961. In Boulder he owned a small hotel and later drove a school bus for the Boulder Valley School District.

He was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Iowa and of First Presbyterian Church in Boulder. He enjoyed camping.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a daughter, Jan McLees of Aurora; a son, Jim McLees of Westminster; and a sister, Madene Comp of Fort Collins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William A. McLees, in March 1998.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder. Interment will be at a later date in Iowa.

James Logan Edmunds
May 27, 1913 - June, 21, 2000

James Logan Edmunds of Boulder died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in Boulder. He was 87.

The son of Daniel A. Edmunds and Elma Ashman Edmunds, he was born May 27, 1913, in Waukegan, Ill. He married Elizabeth Hayes on May 25, 1935, in Bloomington, Ill. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Edmunds earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois.

He worked for Sinclair Refining Company and Atlantic Richfield.

He grew up in the Chicago area and moved to Boulder in 1996.

Mr. Edmunds was an Eagle Scout, was on the swim team in high school and college and was treasurer of the Arco/Dino Retirees Club. He enjoyed fishing, electronics and PC computing.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Bierbaum and Beth Biddle, both of Boulder; a sister, Elizabeth Siska of Madison, Wis.; a brother, Merrill Edmunds of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

A funeral service will be Tuesday in Dolton, Ill. Entombment will follow at Oakland Memory Lanes in Dolton.

Ada J. Williams
April 19, 1911 - June 21, 2000

Ada J. Williams of Boulder died Wednesday, June 21, 2000. She was 89.

Born April 19, 1911, in New Auburn, Minn., she was the daughter of Wells Crosby and Jessie Beebe Crosby. She married Elno R. Davis. He died. She married Vernon D. Williams on Sept. 1, 1984, in Denver. He preceded her in death.

A graduate of Wheat Ridge High School and Barnes Business School, she worked as a secretary for the U.S. Bureau of Mines, retiring in 1973.

She moved to Boulder in 1978 from Lakewood.

Mrs. Williams enjoyed painting and traveling.

Survivors include three daughters, Katherine Spreadborough of Renton, Wash., Myrna Cox of Englewood and Beverly Wells of Sandusky, Ohio; a son, Gary Davis of Lakewood; a brother, Kenneth Crosby of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. July 8 at Seventh Day Baptist Church, 6710 Arapahoe Road, Boulder.
