Ruth Eloise Hold

March 13, 1925 - Sept. 26, 2000

Ruth Eloise Hold of Boulder died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at home. She was 75.

The daughter of Lester H. Holt and Faye Conklin Holt, she was born March 13, 1925, in Boulder.

She worked for Dow Chemical and Rockwell International as a medical technologist at Rocky Flats. She was a certified professional secretary.

She graduated from the University of Colorado in 1945 and spent one year training as a medical technician at Buffalo General Hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of Boulder.

She was an active member of First Congregational Church of Boulder, where she served as a youth leader, and volunteered at Boulder Senior Center and United Ministry in Higher Education. She enjoyed reading and golf.

She is survived by Anne Dooley, a special friend of the family.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, 1128 Pine St., Boulder. A reception will follow.

Harold Carson Jones
Aug. 30, 1935-Sept. 19, 2000

Harold Carson Jones of Louisville died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at Boulder County Care Center. He was 65.

He was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Edson, Tenn., to Carson C. Jones and Nina Pearl Davis Jones. He married Janet Garrett in 1956.

He worked for Ball Aerospace for 41 years before retiring. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of the Tri-City Elks Club #2541, American Legion Post 111, Red Dale National Camping Club, and the Family Motor Coach Club.

Survivors include his wife of Louisville; stepson, Terry Hawkins of Greeley; brother, Wayne Jones of Rogersville, Tenn.; four sisters, Fay Price and Sandy Short, both of Rogersville, Shirley Begely of Edison, Tenn., and Janice Moyers of Talbott, Tenn.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tri-City Elks Club, 525 Main St., Louisville.

Burial took place in Rogersville.

Contributions may be made to Boulder County Care Center, 1855 Plaza Drive, Louisville, CO 80027.

Avalon Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Marilyn Kay Bland
Nov. 22, 1944 - Sept. 25, 2000

Marilyn Kay Bland of Elsah, Ill., formerly of Boulder County, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Eudora, Kan. She was 55.

The daughter of Clyde M. Bland and Tennyson I. Welty Bland, she was born Nov. 22, 1944, in Garfield City, Okla.

She graduated from Ottawa High School in Kansas and Principia College in Elsah, Ill. She earned a master's degree and a doctorate in botany from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

She worked as an environmental ecologist for NUS, an engineering firm in Pittsburgh, Pa., and an for SRI, an institute which once was a research arm of Stanford University.

She lived in Medford, Ore., and came to Boulder County in 1999 to care for her ailing mother.

Survivors include two brothers, Murrel Bland of Kansas City, Kan., and Joan Bland of Eudora, Kan.

Services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kan.

Pamela Ruth Mason
March 14, 1916 - Aug. 13, 2000

Pamela Ruth Mason of Greenland, Ark., formerly of Boulder, died Aug. 13, 2000, in Anchorage, Alaska. She was 84.

She was born March 14, 1916, in Long Island, N.Y., to Edwin Kittle and Elsie Imandt Kittle. She married Hubert Lee Mason on Feb. 14, 1936, in Rockville Center, N.Y. He died in 1996.

Mrs. Mason lived in Boulder from 1965 to 1977.

She attended Cooper Union Art School in New York, the Maryland Institute of Art and the Art Center in Los Angeles.

Mrs. Mason was an artist, and her works were exhibited nationally. She was also associated with numerous galleries and painting groups, including the Boulder Artists' Guild.

She was an accomplished fencer, winning numerous titles.

Survivors include her son, Michael Mason of Anchorage; and three grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Ruth Landon
Jan. 30, 1910-Sept. 27, 2000

Ruth Landon of Longmont died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000. She was 90.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1910, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Irving Friedman and Ella London Friedman. She married Morris "Moe" Landon Oct. 21, 1933, in Brooklyn. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1995.

She was raised in Brooklyn, and lived in New Jersey, California and Florida before moving to Colorado.

She as a member of several synagogues in the New York area and sang in choirs. She was hospitality chairperson for the Cheviot Hills Senior Club, and was active in the Lighthouse for the Blind charity.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris Vossler of Lafayette; son, Howard Landon of Louisville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Mountain View Cemetery.

Crist Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Clyde Ingram Meyring
April 4, 1922 - Sept. 2, 2000

Clyde Ingram Meyring of San Diego, formerly of Boulder, died Sept. 2, 2000, while working in his yard. He was 78.

The son of Bernard I. Meyring and Grace Hoover Meyring, he was born April 4, 1922, in Buena Vista, Texas. He married Eilene Livingston on July 6, 1944, in Boulder.

Mr. Meyring graduated from Boulder High School in 1941. He attended the University of Colorado before enlisting in the Coast Guard in 1942, serving 19 months in Alaska. He was also stationed in Atlantic City, N.J. He moved to California and was a self-employed distributor of dairy products and bottled water in the San Diego area.

One of his grandfathers, Henry Meyring, came to Salina, west of Boulder, in 1875 and discovered the Melvina gold mine. His other grandfather, Moses Hoover, was a well-known farmer in the Boulder area and served as a county commissioner.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Meyring of Mill Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Karol Smith of Port Angeles, Wash.; a sister, Caroline Shepherd of Boulder; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton; and a granddaughter.

Services were held Sept. 8 in San Diego.

Greenwood Mortuary handled arrangements.

Timothy J. Kelly
March 23, 1956 - Sept. 28, 2000

Timothy J. Kelly of Louisville died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, of respiratory failure at Avista Hospital in Louisville. He was 44.

Born March 23, 1956, in Boulder, he was the son of Howard C. Kelly and Irene A. Pol Kelly. He married Janelle Manzanares. They divorced in 1979.

Mr. Kelly graduated from Centaurus High School.

Disabled since 1996, he worked as a restaurant manager and in electronics. He was past manager of VFW Post No. 2601 of Longmont.

He was a member of the Tri-City Elks Lodge No. 2541 and the American Legion Post 111, both in Louisville. He enjoyed fishing, art and reading.

Survivors include his parents of Louisville; a daughter, Janelle Manzanares of Westminster; three brothers, Howard T. Kelly of Westminster, David Kelley of Aurora, and Larry Kelly of Parker; and his grandmother, Adelle Pol of Louisville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Avalon Chapel, 1320 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette. The Rev Don Willette of St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville will officiate.

James William Green
Feb. 25, 1931 - Sept. 11, 2000

James William Green of Grand Junction, formerly of Boulder, died Sept. 11, 2000, at his home. He was 69.

Born Feb. 25, 1931, in Indianapolis, Ind., he was the son of Harry J. Green and Mary Ulmer Green. He married Mary L. Holzlider in 1951. They divorced. He married Margaret Benton in 1982.

He graduated from Purdue Technical Institute in 1951. He served in the Air Force.

He worked as a product safety engineer at IBM in Indianapolis, Ind., Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Boulder and Tucson, Ariz., retiring in 1991.

He lived in Boulder County from 1965 to 1990.

Survivors include his wife of Grand Junction; two daughters, Andra Yoshioka of Tokyo, Japan, and Cynthia Foreman of Monument; two sons, William Green of Simms, Mont., and Stephen Green of Boulder; two brothers, Robert Green of Anchorage, Alaska, and Richard Green of Fairland, Ind.; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 8 at Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette.
