Matoush
Bernard W. Matoush, 79, of Brush, and formerly of Sterling, died May 14, 2008, in Brush. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Matoush was born Jan. 27, 1929, to Richard Matoush and Marie (Dalrymple) of Julesburg. He graduated from high school.
On Jan. 28, 1951, he married Helen I. Bauer in Julesburg.
Mr. Matoush entered the U.S. Army in 1951, and served until his discharge in 1956 as a sergeant.
He lived in Julesburg until 1964, when he and his family moved to Fort Collins. They moved to Kingfisher, Okla., in 1975, returning to Fort Collins in 1986.
Mr. Matoush resided in Sterling from 1995 to 2000, when he moved to Brush, where he resided until his death.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Sterling.
Mr. Matoush is survived by his daughters, Cathy Hoffman and husband Bill of Fort Collins and Linda Evans and husband Steve of Sterling; brother, Robert Matoush of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Brian Evans of Sterling, James Evans and wife Nympha, stationed in Guam with the U.S. Navy, and Sara Evans of Sterling; and great-granddaughters, Kylie and Emmi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Cheryl; wife, Helen “Jean” Matoush; and son, David Matoush.
Graveside Inurnment of Cremains will be Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., in the Julesburg Cemetery, Julesburg, Colorado, with Chaplin Duane Kincaid officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Anthony "Tony" Christensen, Sedgwick
1915 - 2008
Anthony “Tony” Christensen, 92, of Sedgwick, Colorado, died May 18, 2008, in Julesburg, Colorado.
Tony was born on November 9, 1915, in Potter, Nebraska to John and Helen (Clausen) Christensen. He graduated from 8th grade at Potter. He started buying and selling cattle at an early age. He saved enough money to get his farm started, which grew and grew over the 70+ years he farmed and raised cattle in Sedgwick. After Violet died, he started restoring Model-T’s. It grew into a large hobby.
After his father died in the early 40s, Tony took care of his mother and siblings, bringing them back from Idaho and putting them on his farm.
He married Violet Widstrand in December of 1941. To this marriage, three children were born.
Tony is survived by his children, Joyce Booth and husband Bill of Tangent, AR, Larry Christensen of Chappell, Neb., and Jackie Palser of Chappell, Neb., Roy Mitchell, of Sedgwick, Co., Violet’s son, Clyde Christensen of Sidney, Ne., his brother Donald Christensen of Sterling, Co., his grandchildren, Michelle Neuschuander and her husband Adam of Or., Elaine Bremer and husband Henry of Or., A.J. Palser of Chappell, Ne., Richard Christensen of Or., and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, his wife, Violet, sisters Mary Martin and Katherine Williamson, brother Albro Christensen, and grandson Tom Christensen.

Roberta "Wesa" Louise Wegman, Julesburg
1940 - 2008
Roberta “Wesa” Louise Wegman, 67, of Julesburg, Colorado, went home to be with our Lord on May 12, 2008.
Born in El Paso, Texas, the eldest daughter of Robert Victor Reinhart and Jeanne Sorenson Reinhart on August 21, 1940, she attended Alta Vista School and Austin High School. Upon graduation from high school, she worked for the El Paso Natural Gas Company and then the Standard Oil Company where she was chosen to ride on several of the company parade floats including the New Year’s Day Sun Carnival Parade float where she wore Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra dress. She also spent a short time working at the University of Texas at El Paso. She then moved to Dillon, Colorado in 1965, and later to Denver which would be her home for the next 39 years.
In July 1966, her firstborn, a son, Jeffrey Wayne was born, and then in January 1971, her daughter, Pamela Ruth, was born. Her working career continued in accounting, secretary or word processing positions for companies like Chevron Oil Company, Sterns Roger Engineering Firm, and Martin Marietta Aerospace. She spent the last 13 1/2 years of her working career at the Colorado Secretary of States Office from which she retired in 2004. Following her retirement, she moved to Julesburg, Colorado, to be near her children and grandchildren.
She volunteered at the Colorado Welcome Center and became very busy with many of the activities and people of the Julesburg Christian Church. Her lifetime hobbies included water skiing, softball, bowling, sewing, knitting, shopping, and a love of people, mountains, and airplanes. Roberta was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Jeanne, her father, Robert, and her brother, Joseph Reinhart.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Wegman, and wife Joni of Sierra Vista, Arizona, her daughter Pamela Kler and husband David of Julesburg, Colorado, five grandchildren, Samantha and Jordan Wegman, Zachery, Jessica, and Joshua Kler, two sisters, Gloria Sharon Albe of New Orleans, Louisiana, Julia Zubia of Albuquerque, New Mexico, two brothers, Robert Reinhart of Sacramento, California and David Reinhart of Winder, Georgia.
Funeral services were at the Julesburg Christian Church on Friday, May 16, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. Her final resting place will be at the Hillside Cemetery, Julesburg, Colorado.
Gary Lee Bruns, Chappell

Gary Lee Bruns
Gary Lee Bruns, age 75, of Chappell, NE died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Chappell with Pastor Jurdan Counts officiating. Interment was in the Chappell Cemetery
following the service with full military honors.

Gary was born April 29, 1933 at the Clark family home east of Chappell to Carl and Alice Clark Bruns. Gary grew up in Deuel County and graduated from Deuel County High School in 1951. He married Naomi Alice Beam Knerr on February 25, 1953. Gary served in the US Army for three years before returning to the family farm. Gary and Naomi raised five children on their farm east of Chappell and continued farming for over 50 years.
Gary was an active member of the American Legion and proudly honored his fellow servicemen by participating in local military ceremonies. His loyalty to his country was evident to all who knew him by his patriotic attire and steadfast display of the American Flag.
Gary had a heartfelt love of the land and nature and devoted his life to farming. He was a respected consultant to the farming community and found joy in helping others.
Gary will be remembered for his selfless generosity and playful sense of humor.
Gary is survived by Naomi, his wife of 55 years, children Carol and husband Lanny Carter of Ogallala, Allan and wife Cindy Bruns of Dundee, OR, Bob Bruns of Chappell, Barbara and husband Mark Kepler of Chappell, and Nancy Bruns of Sedona, AZ. Grandchildren Adam Carter, Laura and husband Jason Lavaley, Aaron Carter, Jennyfer, Ben and Erica Bruns, Garrett Bruns-Greene, Jason, Travis, and Jillian Kepler, Josh and Megan Baers, and Alex Dunlop. Great Grandchildren Hayden and Bransen Lavaley. He is also survived by a host of family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all.
Martin Radel
Martin Frank Radel, 60, of rural Lodgepole, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Holechek Funeral Home Chapel in Oshkosh with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating. Cremation will follow the service and a private family inurnment will be in the Morning View Cemetery
in Wallace.
Visitation was on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
A memorial has been established to the family.

Martin was born on April 15, 1948, at North Platte, NE, to Lawrence Davis and Marjorie Susanna (Pilkington) Radel. He grew up on the family farm near Elsie, NE. After graduation, he served in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he spent most of his life in Colorado and Nebraska where he raised his children and worked mostly as an electrician and instrument technician.
Martin enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, rodeo, and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his six children, Martin J. Radel, Doug Jasper, Tricia M. (Radel) Hysell, Ezekiel L. Radel, Sara J. (Radel) Bergene, and Ryan E. Radel; brother, Loren Radel; sister, Luella Heilbrun; eight grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, and Kaitlyn Radel, Shellie, Jake, and Dalton Hysell, and Collin and Brianna Bergene; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Connie (Radel) McVay.
Charles "Chuck" Francis Custer Jr., Fort Morgan
1921 - 2008
Charles “Chuck” Francis Custer Jr., 86, of Fort Morgan, died March 27, 2008, at the Sterling Living Center in Sterling. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. A luncheon will follow the service.
Mr. Custer was born Oct. 13, 1921, to Frances (Mathis) and Charles Francis Custer Sr. in Chicago, Ill. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in animal husbandry.
Custer served in the Coast Guard from 1941 to 1945. He worked as a beef sales manager for Swift & Co., Armour, Sterling Colorado Beef and Topco. Since 1983, he was a resident of Fort Morgan.
He was active in the Boy Scouts, serving at the Council, District and Troop levels for more than 25 years.
He served as a member and president of the St. Paul Lutheran Church Council in Grand Island, Neb., and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 576 in O’Fallon for 44 years and a Noble of the Tehama Shriners of Hastings, Neb. He also was a member of the U.S. Golf Association, the Fort Morgan Pitch Club and the Elks in Fort Morgan.
Mr. Custer is survived by his wife, Cleora Mae; son, Edward Allan Custer; daughter, Frances Mae Dimick; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Doris Jean Anderson.

Timothy "Tim" R. Glenn Sr., Joplin, Mo., and formerly of Julesburg

Timothy “Tim” R. Glenn Sr., 71, of Joplin, Mo., died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Freeman West Hospital. Funeral services were held today, March 28, at Joplin Family Worship Center. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31 at Hillside Cemetery
in Julesburg.
Mr. Glenn was born Dec. 11, 1936, to George and Lena Dorn Glenn in Julesburg. He was a 1955 graduate of Big Springs High School in Big Springs, Neb.
He worked for the state of Nebraska at the Norfolk Regional Center as a recreational therapist for 27 years, retiring in 1999.
In 1999, he moved from Norfolk, Neb., to Joplin, Mo. He worked for the Joplin R-VIII School District as a bus driver.
Mr. Glenn was a very active member of the Joplin Family Worship Center. He was a four year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany.
On Nov. 20, 1960, he married Rose Shaw in Julesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; sons, Timothy R. Glenn Jr. and wife Kathy of Branson, Mo., and Thaddeus R. Glenn and wife Avis of Bruel, Neb.; daughter, Melissa K. Brown and husband Matt of Fridley, Minn.; brother, Noel Glenn and wife Kathy of Pittsburg, Kan.; grandchildren, Rochel Fields, Richard Glenn, Tesa Brown, Jennifer Teets and Stephanie Schimdt; great-grandchildren, Corey Fields, Rian Teets, and Marcus Burks; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Family Worship Center kitchen fund.

Duane Adelbert Blue
1933 - 2008
It is with great sorrow that the family and children of Duane Blue announce his passing on September 6, 2008. Duane lost his battle with cancer. He leaves behind his three loving children, Tom Blue (Diana) Debbie Blue, and Becky Hatzenbuhler (Mike); five grandchildren, Shelby, Derick, Janel, Bret, and Jamee; brothers, Kenneth Blue (Henrietta) of Ogallala, Nebraska, Neil Blue (Joyce) of Yuma Arizona; sisters, Diane Namuth (Duane) of Sidney, Nebraska and Jeanine Batt (LeRoy) of Pinebluffs, Wyoming; along with several nieces and nephews.
Duane was born on June 7, 1933, in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Ovid schools until he went into the Navy during the Korean War. He retired in 1995. Duane will be united with his beloved wife, Gerry, who preceded him in 2005. His parents, his brother Keith, and sister Sheryl preceded him in death.
Services were held in St. Clare Chapel in the Santa Clara Mission Chapel in California, where he was laid to rest. He will be sadly missed by many friends, family and other loved ones.
Darrell "Butch" Henni, Carter Lake
1946 - 2008
Darrell “Butch” Henni of Carter Lake died October 9, 2008 at his home. He was 68.
He was born April 26, 1940 in Julesburg, Co to Fred and Freda Henni. He was raised on the family farm and was active in farming in his early life.
He was married in Littleton Colorado to Betty Milheim.
He owned and operated Henni’s Wood Company.
He was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed fishing, loved his family especially his grandchildren and his dog “Poy-poy”.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Betty; his children John (Missie) Kramer, Melissa (Rodney) Windholz, DeeDee (Billy) Johnson, Terry Rondestvedt (Tom Winden), and Sue (Tim) Thorell; two brothers Darwin and Jerry; ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
