Eldon H. Hays

A Memorial Service was held for Wiley resident, Eldon H. Hays 2:00 PM, November 28, 2008 at the Lamar Life Center Foursquare Gospel Church with Pastor Manuel Tamaz officiating.
Per Eldon’s request, cremation took place at the Arkansas Valley Crematory in La Junta, Colorado.
Mr. Hays was born on February 24, 1939 at Lamar, Colorado to Byran and Lillian (Eriksen) Hays and departed this life at his home with his family by his side on November 17, 2008.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Grace Hays of the family home in Wiley, children; Eldon Hays, Jr. of Wiley, Cindy (Jay) West of Fairbanks, Alaska, Erik Hays of Winter Park, Colorado, Lee (Chris) Hays of Phoenix, Arizona and Melissia Hays of Fairbanks, Alaska.
He is also survived by his step-children; Barry Mullins and Leisa (Jesse) Lucero all of Wiley, grandchildren; Mike and Monica West, Matthew and Greg Hays, step-grandchildren; Alex Mullins, and Philip and Isaac Lucero, brother; Dale (Kaye) Hays of Las Animas, nephew; Stacy (Karen) Hays and a sister Evelyn (Sam) Skiles of Bennett, Colorado.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Eldon Hays Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.

James D. “Jimmy” Havens

Memorial Services for Tampa, Florida resident James D. “Jimmy” Havens was held, Friday, February 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Peacock Family Chapel with Pastor Manuel Tamaz of the Life Center Foursquare Gospel Church officiating.

Per Jimmy’s request cremation took place and there was no visitation.

Jimmy was born on June 20, 1957 at Reed City, Michigan to Fred G. and Joyce (Emerick) Havens and passed away on February 16, 2009 at the age of 51.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his sister Robin Havens.

He is survived by his son; James Havens of Tampa, Florida, his mother Joyce White of Tampa, Florida, and father; Fred (Mary) Havens of Wiley, Colorado. He is also survived by his siblings; Cindy (Paul) Macdonell, Sandy (Bradley) Palinicas, Donnie Havens, Amy (Eric) Michniak all of Tampa, Florida, Debbie Jones of Wiley, Mary Jane (Lohn) Owens, Tom (Marilyn) Havens and Bill Havens all of Alamosa, Colorado and Karen (Jim) Eastman of Midland, Michigan.
Numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends also survive.

Maudeane Harris

Maudeane “Deane” Harris was born on March 25, 1934 in Hereford, Texas to Johnnie and Iva Williams Kemp, and passed away on December 9, 2008 at Prowers Medical Center, Lamar, Colorado at the age of 74.
Maudeane was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Ivalene Tixier.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharlene Martinez of Pecos, Texas, and her son, Buford Harris of Mesilla, New Mexico, three granddaughters and one grandson.
Also surviving is one brother, J. W. Kemp of Lamar.
Deane was employed at Valley State Bank and then worked for Neoplan as a cook until her retirement.
She will be remembered for the many good lunches she prepared for the men who built the buses.
She will be missed by her family.
At her request, she was cremated at the Arkansas Valley Crematory and no services were held.
Final disposition will be at a later date at the Masonic Cemetery in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Darlene Hamilton

Darlene was born January 4, 1929 at Quincy, Kansas to Bert and Edna (Barnard) Kester.
She attended the rural school, grades 1 through 8 near Toronto, Kansas.

She then attended the local high school where she graduated.
She married James Hamilton in September of 1946.
She and Jim moved to Denver where Darlene worked for the May Company as a bookkeeper.

They moved to Limon, Colorado when Jim joined the Colorado State Patrol in 1949.
Jim was transferred to Grand Junction, Colorado where their son Stephen was born in 1950.

Jim was called back into the Marine Corp.
In 1951 and the family spent the next year in the Sierra Mountains of California at a cold weather training camp.
When Jim was discharged form the United States Marine Corp, the family came to Lamar with the State Patrol.

Darlene worked for a couple years with Montgomery Ward before she was hired as office manager of the Lamar Chamber of Commerce.
She spent the rest of her career with the chamber, semi-retiring in 1991.
Darlene continued to be affiliated with the chamber for several years.

Darlene went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.
She was 78.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jim of the family home. Her son Stephen (Jean Scriven) Hamilton of Caddoa, Colorado, a step granddaughter, Pamela Scriven, step great grandson, Raydan Bencomo as well as her sister, Sue (Charles) Goss of Toronto, Kansas and a brother, Steven (Dolly) Kester also of Toronto, Kansas.

Darlene will also be missed by her many friends.

A celebration of Darlene Hamilton’s life was held at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Ray Matteson of the Lamar Christian Church officiating. A private graveside service followed at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar.

Musical selections included Darlene's favorite song, "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and "Rock of Ages" sang by Les Scriven and accompanied on the organ by Mary Olson.

Serving as casketbearers were Rick Akers, Bob McClung, Lee Robinson, Bryan Herrera, Gordon Guihen and Marvin Lane.

Following the chapel services, the family left the funeral home by procession which was led by representatives of the Colorado State Patrol in honor and recognition of Darlene's husband, Jim.

Mary Hagaman

Mary Hagaman, 68, passed away unexpectedly in Pueblo on November 23, 2007.
Mary was born on February 10, 1939 in Buymon, Oklahoma.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Hazel (Heath) Hobson and a sister.
She is survived by her husband, Bert, sisters, Kathryn Harper, Terry Clark, Bobbie Ferres, JoDell (Butch) Tegrett, brothers Harvey (Charolette) Carter, Jeff (Sue) Ellard, special family members Donnie (Ethie) Hagaman and Ernie (Sandy) Hagaman as well as her special grandchildren; Mitchell, Andrea, Casey, Billie Ann and Shane and great grandchildren; Coy, Cody and Bryan. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
At her request there will be no services. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

James A. “Jim” Gruenloh

A Funeral Mass for lifelong Lamar resident, James A. “Jim” Gruenloh will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 6, 2009 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar, CO with Reverend Charlie Sena as celebrant.
A Rosary Service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 6:00 PM also at the church with Deacon Henry Wertin reciting.
Rite of Committal will be held following the Mass at the Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar, Colorado.
Visitation for Jim will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Peacock Family Chapel from 1:00PM until 4:00PM as well as prior to the Rosary and Mass.
Jim was born June 18, 1936 at Lamar, Colorado to Arthur and LaVerne (Weis) Gruenloh and passed away on July 1, 2009 at his home with his family by his side at age 73.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Jared Gruenloh.
Jim is survived by his wife; Elvira Gruenloh of the family home, children; Marvin (Alisha) Gruenloh of Lamar, Gail (Marvin) Koeller of Sheridan Lake, Gwen (Bob) Krum of Lamar, Terri (Dell) Hendricks of Tioga, Texas, Bev (Brian) Wurst of Lamar, and Shirley (Russ) Anderson also of Lamar.
He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren; Riley, Vincent, Parker, Collette, Lexi, Korby, Luc, Ryan, Megan, Bart, Ross and Cade, his brother; Robert Gruenloh of Lamar and sister; Mary Ann Pittman of Boulder, Colorado as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.

Mable F. Graves

A Service of Celebration for longtime Lamar Resident, Mable Florence Graves was held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Lamar Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor John Morrison officiating. Interment followed at the Veteran's Section of Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at the Peacock Funeral Home.
Mable was born August 25, 1918 at Langdon, Kansas to Everal Harris and Bessie Pearl (Pratt) Fuller and passed away at her home with her family by her side on January 11, 2009 at the age of 90.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; Jess Lewis Suhler, brothers, Virgil Leroy Fuller, Edward Leslie Fuller and Lloyd Everal Fuller; sisters, Ruby Edna Suhler, Opal Fern Patrick, and infant sister, Eva Mae Fuller and a daughter-in-law; Gail Suhler and son-in-law, Tim Hallett.
Mable is survived by her husband; Lee Graves of the family home in Lamar, children; Joyce Hallett of Eau Clair, Wisconsin, Bryan Suhler of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and nine step-children.
Also surviving are her five grandchildren; Sheri (David) James of Willie, Texas, Sharla (Ward) Adams of Kankakee, Illinois, Timothy (Naomi) Hallett, Jr. of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Todd (Cami) Hallett of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Benjamin (Annie) Suhler of Colorado Springs, Colorado, as well as 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lamar Missionary Baptist Church and/or Lamar Area Hospice in care of the funeral home office.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Peacock Family

Glenn Getman

A graveside service for longtime Kit Carson resident, Glenn Getman will be held 1:00 PM, February 18, 2008 at the Kit Carson Cemetery.
Full Military Honors will be under the auspices of the Kit Carson V.F.W. Post #3411.
The casket will be open prior to the graveside service.
Glenn Getman was born September 15, 1909 in Mankato, Kansas to Ervin and Grace (Nelson) Getman and passed away on February 13, 2008 at Prowers Medical Center in Lamar, Colorado at the age of 98 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Grace Getman, brothers Frank, Guy and Harry Getman; sisters Edna White, Agnes White and Hattie Long; nephews Ivan Getman, Norman White, and Gerald Getman; and nieces Norma Blooding, Eileen Jones and Ervina White.
Glenn is survived by his nephews Ronald (Shirley) White of Kit Carson, Vern and (Elsiemae) White of Kit Carson, Larry White of Cibolo, Texas, and Roy Getman of Kit Carson; nieces Wanda White of Florida, and Marilyn White of Kit Carson.
He is also survived by other nieces and nephews as well as many friends and family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kit Carson Museum direct or in care of the funeral home office.

Virginia Rae Gentz

A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Virginia Rae Gentz.

Virginia was born on February 18, 1945 in Lamar, Colorado and passed away in Lamar at the home of her sister, Louise Storie, following a lengthy illness on July 7, 2007. Virginia was 62.
