RAMIREZ
Funeral Mass for Maria Guadalupe Ramirez, 75, of Rocky Ford will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford with Father Mario Murillo officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery
in Rocky Ford. Rosary services were held Sunday.
Mrs. Ramirez died March 27, 2008, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta.
She was born April 3, 1932, in Tlaltenango, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Ramon and Ramona Barujas. She was raised in Zacatecas, Mexico. She married Juan A. Ramirez. She was a homemaker. She came to Rocky Ford in 1990. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband Juan A. Ramirez of Rocky Ford; children Ramon Ramirez of Zacatecas, Mexico, Enedina (Jose) Herrera of Rocky Ford, Carmela (Filberto) Ramos of Guadalajara, Mexico, Beatrice (David) Pena of Edenburg, Texas, Manuel (Imelda) Ramirez of La Fayette, Ind., Aramadina (Ignacio) Ortega of Rocky Ford and Lucha (Gabriel) Guzman of La Junta; grandchildren Isabel, Yolanda, Gabriela, Paloma, Carmela, Fatima and Daniel of Mexico, Hilda, Eliazar, Jose, Fidel, Hugo, Rosario, Benito, Susie, Gabriel, Alejadro, Armondo of Rocky Ford and Omar, Juan, Selina of Indiana and Daniel of Texas and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ramona of Mexico.

HALLOCK
A memorial service for longtime Baca County resident Don Hallock will be Friday, April 4, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church at 901 Colorado St. in Springfield.
Mr. Hallock died March 30, 2008, at St. Mary Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jo of the home; son Hewitt Hallock of Alamosa and a daughter Holly Evans of Springfield.

McGHEE
Betty J. McGhee, 77, of Olney Springs, died at Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway on March 31, 2008. She was born on July 31, 1930 in Pueblo, the daughter of the late William and Alice Rathbun Steiner. She married Charles McGhee on Sept. 29, 1948 in Taos, N.M. The family lived in Olney Springs for over 40 years where they formerly operated Chuck’s Grocery and Pueblo Milk Transport. Chuck preceded her in death in 2000, a son Gerald Ray died in 1972 and a son, James E. McGhee died in 2006.
She was a member of Olney Springs Community Methodist Church and sang in the choir.
She is survived by an aunt, Ruby Stahl of Rye, a sister-in-law Juanita (Clyde) Treat of New Mexico, a brother Truman (Nedra) Steiner of Oklahoma, four grandchildren: Rebecca “Becky” McGhee of Philadelphia, Pa., Jason J. (Lyndy) McGhee of Fowler and their children, Alyssa, Brandon, Dahlton, and Darrian; Tia (Manuel) Gallarzo of Pueblo and Joslynn McGhee of Olney Springs, and a daughter-in-law, Linda McGhee of Olney Springs.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Griffy Chapel with Rev. Jean McPherson, officiating. Burial will be at the Fowler Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Olney Springs Community Methodist Church. Griffy Family Funeral Home in Fowler is in charge of arrangements.
CHRISTIANSON
Funeral services for Lowell B. Christianson, 80, of La Junta will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at Ustick Donelson Johnson Funeral Home in Rocky Ford with Pastor Maynard Bowen officiating. Burial will be at the Cheraw Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at the funeral home.
Mr. Christianson died April 1, 2008, in La Junta.
He was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Soldier, Iowa, to Bennett Christianson and Helen (Brown) Christianson. He married Shirley Jean Gray.
He served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. He retired from Trinidad State Junior College where he worked as a maintenance man. He loved to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife Shiriley Jean Christianson of the family home in La Junta; children Wesley Lee Christianson of Holly Hills, Fla., Claudia Jo (Dale) Gregorie of Lebanon, Mo., and Terry Bryon (Kim) Christianson of San Diego, Calif., and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and children Jeanine Christianson and Charles Christianson.

GROVES
Funeral services for Irene Ball Groves, 90, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 4, at the Griffy Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fowler with Pastor Ken West of Community Baptist Church in Crowley officiating. Burial will be at the Olney Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Groves died April 1, 2008, at Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway.
She was born Minnie Irene Ball on Nov. 3, 1917, in Olney Springs to Charles P. and Etta Jeffrey Ball.
In 1927, the family moved to Buckeye Hill, south of Crowley, on the farm her grandparents homesteaded.
She married Clarence Groves on Oct. 19, 1935.
She was a homemaker and active member of the churches she attended serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years. The family lived in Manzanola and Rocky Ford and later in Ordway and Arlington where they ranched and farmed. They finally moved to Olney Springs in 1972. She enjoyed seeing her friends at the Olney Springs Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling with her two sisters and other friends in later life. She loved to cook, work with ceramics, quilt and crochet.
She is survived by her husband Clarence Groves of Olney Springs; children Gilbert (Sheila) Groves of Ordway, Donald (Cathy) Groves of Manzanola, Melvin (Christine) Groves of Ordway, Beverly (Roy) Armstrong of La Junta, Barbara (Cliff) Wolfe of Montrose; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Etta Ball, sisters Zelma McDowell and Grace Doak.
The family requests memorial donations be made in her name to the Crowley County Nursing Center, 401 Idaho Ave., Ordway, CO 81063 and Arkansas Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 408, La Junta, CO 81050.

GALVEZ
Recitation of the rosary for Delfino Galvez, 85, of Fowler will be recited at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Walsenburg. Memorial funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, also at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Walsenburg. Inurnment will follow at the Farisita Cemetery
in Walsenburg.
Mr. Galvez died March 30, 2008, in Canon City.
He was born in the Red Canyon in Maes Creek, Colo., on Aug. 9, 1922. He lived a long and full life with Belinda Galvez, his beloved wife of 60 years. Until their recent move to Canon City, they lived in Fowler for the past 28 years.
He served with the Navy in World War II on the USS Alabama as a Seaman First Class. Around 1982, Delfino and his wife moved to Fowler where he continued to travel for several more years to his workplace at Pueblo’s CF&I. After a total of 32 years of service to CF&I, he retired to enjoy his life on the farm in Fowler.
He is suvived by his wife, Belinda Garcia Galvez; daughters, Karen Lynn Galvez and Marcella Margaret Garcia; sons, Philippe Galvez, Paul Andrew Galvez, Sr. (Patricia), David Gus Galvez (Susan), Edward James Galvez (Kathryn), and Leo Dean Galvez (Mary); grandchildren, Michael Galvez, Barbara Huffman, Ray Garcia, Bernadette Garcia, Daniel Garcia, Tomas Garcia, Charles Galvez, Nicolette Galvez, Paul Galvez, Jr., Monica Hewell, Desiree Galvez, Jennifer Galvez, Christopher Galvez, Matthew Galvez, Alexandra Galvez, and Jordan Galvez; great grandchildren, Corey Huffman, Joshua Huffman, Ashley Huffman, Dual Garcia, Carrie Garcia, Zoe Garcia, Leah Garcia, Cem Garcia, Reya Garcia, Anthony Galvez, Alyssa Hewell, Brandon Hewell, Owen Phelps, and David Phelps; and siblings, Louie Galvez, Stella Carter, Florence Catalano, and Robert Galvez.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maximilliano “Chano” Galvez, his mother, Katie Galvez; a son, Delfino Donald Galvez; an infant daughter, Mary Galvez; a grandson, Donald Wayne Galvez; sisters, Rachael Trujillo, Martha Trujillo, and Vickie Galvez; and brothers, Archie Galvez, Art Galvez, Eddie Galvez, and Diego Galvez.

McRAE
Finley J. McRae died April 6, 2008, at Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford where he had been a resident for the past 3 ½ years. Mr. McRae was 90 years old. At his request, there will be no services. A memorial open house luncheon will be held in Rocky Ford for family and friends on Wednesday, April 9, at 11 a.m. at the home of Eric and Kathleen McRae, 620 S. Sixth St.
He was born March 18, 1918, to Finley and Emma (Arbogast) McRae on the family farm in Graham Co., Kan.
He married Clarice Baird on July 20, 1941, in Hill City, Kan. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army with a medical detachment for 4 years both in the United States and France.
Returning home after the war, he was involved in farming and ranching for the next 24 years moving to a ranch in Crowley County in 1955 and later to a small farm near Sugar City. While in Sugar City, he worked as a substitute rural mail carrier, on the campaign at the Sugar City sugar factory for several years, and also as a custodian at the Sugar City School for three years until it closed in 1969.
The McRae family moved to La Junta where “Mr. Mac,” as he became known, worked for East Otero School District for the next 15 years, most of which were as custodian at Columbian Elementary. He retired in 1984, and then, started a lawn mowing service, which he ran for the next 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice, of 66 years and four children, Larry McRae of Reno, Nev.; Linda (Glenn) Hunter of Colorado Springs; Eric (Kathleen) McRae of Rocky Ford; and Susan (John) Whinery of Craig; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Doyle, who died in 1959, his parents, and three brothers.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in his name to the Rocky Ford Pioneer Health Care Center Activity Fund, 900 S. 12th Street, Rocky Ford, CO, 81067 direct or through the funeral home.

LANE
Funeral services for Charlie Roy Lane Sr., 77, formerly of La Junta will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at Ustick Donelson Johnson Funeral Home in Rocky Ford with the Rev. John Dell officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery
in Rocky Ford.
Mr. Lane lost his battle with cancer on April 5, 2008.
He was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Rocky Ford to Frank and Gertrude (Kain) Lane. He grew up on a farm in Rocky Ford, then joined the Marine Corps in 1950 where he served on active duty until 1952. He resided in La JUnta with his wife Barbara (Whittaker) Lane and their three children. He worked as a car salesman for Ralph’s La Junta Ford and served on the La Junta Volunteer Fire Department as an emergency medical technician for 15 years. He later served with the Security and the Salida volunteer fire departments. He moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., where he worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement.
He is survived by his three children, Charlie Lane Jr., Lucinda R. McKin and Lisa (Jeffrey) Robertson, all of Colorado Springs; grandchildren Alexandra, Ervin, Seth Lane, Elizabeth Whittaker, Garrett Whittaker, Megan Kurchinski, Sean Kurchinski, Abaigeal Robertson and baby Robertson who is due in August; brother Kenneth (Sue) Lane of Duncan, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Gertrude Lane and his wife Barbara Lane.

Albert Ehrlich, 76, of Rocky Ford, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at his home. Services are pending through Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home.

Mrs. Espinoza died April 7, 2008 at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1963 in La Junta to Herman and Rufina (Baca) Sandoval. Debra attended La Junta Schools.
She is survived by her parents Herman and Fina Sandoval of La Junta; son Danny Espinoza, Jr. of Pueblo; brothers Herman Sandoval, Jr. of La Junta; Raymond Baca, Jr. and Michael Lopez; sisters Connie (Raymond) Blea of La Junta; Veronica (Alfred) Sanchez of La Junta; Elaine (Augustine) Lopez of La Junta; special pet Chunks; fiancé Kenny Vigil and sister-in-law Bella; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers Mike and Albert Lopez.

Private family services for Peggy Mitchell, 77, of Las Vegas, Nev., and formerly of Rocky Ford were held April 2 at the Rocky Ford Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell died Jan. 19, 2008, at Las Vegas, Nev.
She was born May 11, 1931, in Ohio to John J. Bergett and Maddie Bergett. She married Rexford Mitchell in Boulder.
She is survived by her husband Rex Mitchell of Parker, formelry of Las Vegas and Rocky Ford; two sons, one daughter, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
