PAONIA - A resident of Colorado for 25 years, Frederick Lee Hoover, age 46, a professional musician of Paonia, died on Thursday, April 22, 1999, at his Paonia home.
No service will be held at this time.
Arrangements were handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.
Memorial gifts, in Frederick's name, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Frederick Lee Hoover, the son of Woodrow Madison Hoover and Mildred Ernestine (Foor) Hoover, was born on July 12, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio. He spent his childhood in Lithopolis, Ohio, graduated from the Bloom-Carrol High School in Carroll, Ohio with the class of 1970; attended Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio for one year; and completed one year at the Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Frederick loved and enjoyed guitar playing, writing music, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include his mother, Ernestine Hoover, of Lithopolis, Ohio; one sister, Sherry Vercoe; one niece, Melissa and husband Todd Jacob; and their children: Eileen, Elana, and Evan Jacob, all of Columbus, Ohio.
Frederick was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Madison Hoover, five years ago.
Florence E. Krumback
Elementary School Teacher
April 10, 1909 - April 22, 1999
ECKERT - Florence E. Krumback, a resident of Eckert for one year, died on Thursday, April 22, 1999, in the Horizons Care Center at Eckert just 12 days after celebrating her 90th birthday. Florence was a retired elementary school teacher.
Born on April 10, 1909, in Lindsay, Neb., Florence E. Petersen was the daughter of Peter Jensen Petersen and Jeppeline (Hansen) Petersen. She spent her childhood in Newman Grove, Neb., graduated from the Kearney High School in Kearney, Neb. in 1926, and completed her education at the Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Neb.
Florence was married on Feb. 28, 1931, in Fremont, Neb., to LeRoy A. Krumback, who preceded her in death.
After living in Kearney, Neb. for 26 years, Florence moved to Arvada, Colo. where she resided for 39 years until making her home in Eckert a year ago, where she remained until the time of her death.
She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Arvada and especially enjoyed bowling and sewing.
Survivors include one son, Randall Krumback, of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters: Kathleen Roles, of Roseburg, Ore.; Virginia Kendall, of Cedaredge; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include two sisters: Elna Wells, of Roseburg, Ore.; and Louise Reynolds, of Anchorage, Alaska.
In addition to her parents and husband, LeRoy, Florence was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn; and one grandson, Steve.
Funeral Services to honor and celebrate Florence's life will be officiated by Pastor Larson on Tuesday, April 27, at 10 a.m. from the Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada.
Interment will follow the serve in the Arvada Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.
Fern O. Mallett
Lifelong Delta Resident
Oct. 8, 1918 - April 23, 1999
DELTA - Fern O. Mallett, age 80, a homemaker and lifelong Delta resident, died on Friday, April 23, 1999, in her home at Delta.
Fern Fahrney was born on Oct. 8, 1918, in Delta, Colo., the daughter of Lloyd and Hazel (Carr) Fahrney. She spent her childhood in Delta, graduated from the Delta High School with the class of 1937, and made her home in Delta until the time of her death.
On July 18, 1938, Fern married Andy Mallett in Delta, Colo. To this union two sons and one daughter were born. Fern and Andy were very privileged to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary last year in July.
Fern was a member of the First Baptist Church of Delta. Her special interests included loving the Lord and her family, and helping others.
Survivors include her husband, Andy Mallett, of Delta; two sons: Larry Mallett, of Grand Junction; Vincent Mallett, of Miami, Ariz.; and one daughter, Sharon Bridgewater, of Grand Junction.
She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren; and great-grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include two brothers: Allen Fahrney, of Grand Junction; Delwin Fahrney, of Lake Stevens, Wash.; and three sisters: June Myers, of Grand Junction; Norma Nichols, of Mesa, Ariz.; and Laura Brown, of Saugus, Calif.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for family and friends was held on Sunday, April 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Mesa View Mortuary of Delta.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Fern's life will be officiated by Pastor James Conley on Monday, April 26, at 1 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Delta.
Interment will follow the service in the Delta City Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta.

John F. "Jack" Tobin
Founded Millwork Firm
Dec. 11, 1921 March 31, 1999
CHICAGO, Ill. - John F. "Jack" Tobin was born on Dec. 11, 1921, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Tobin. Jack, a longtime Oak Park, Ill. resident, formerly of Montrose, died on Wednesday, March 31, 1999, in the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. at the age of 77.
His mother died in childbirth, and Jack, an only child, was raised by his father, who moved from Los Angeles, Calif. to Montrose, Colo., where he became a rancher and also worked for the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users.
Jack grew up, attended local schools, and graduated from the Montrose County High School with the class of 1939. He continued to pursue his education by attending the University of Colorado at Boulder and was just two courses short of his diploma when he left college to join the United States Army Air Forces during World War II.
After World War II, Jack moved to the Chicago, Ill. area to join his uncle, John Brennan, at the Brennan Lumber Co. in Cicero.
When he started work in Cicero, a co-worker, Al Bradley, took Jack home to meet the Bradley daughters. Jack fell in love with the older daughter, Grace. The couple married and had 10 children.
In 1960, Jack founded the John Tobin Millwork Co. of Villa Park. His father-in-law, a specialty lumber salesman, helped him start his business.
For the first 20 years, most of the company's work was with tract home builders. Then Jack began to supply millwork for more high-end housing and in 1985 began to install his own products.
All of Jack's 10 children went to work in his business.
Knock on any door at more than 10,000 homes in the Chicago area, and that door will have been made or sold by the John Tobin Millwork Co. of Villa Park.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Tobin; six sons: John, Gerard, Patrick, Eugene, Joseph, Michael; and four daughters: Bridget Herald, Liz Sodic, Julie Driscoll, and Gracie Tobin.
Jack was the proud grandfather of 20 grandchildren.
Other family survivors include five first cousins and their families of Montrose.
Visitation for family and friends was held on Sunday, April 4, from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 245 Madison, Oak Park, Ill.
Mass was officiated on Monday, April 5, at 10 a.m. from St. Catherine and St. Lucy Roman Catholic Church, 38 N. Austin, Oak Park, Ill.
Interment followed the Mass in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Ill.
Frances M. Weber
Former Montrose Resident
May 17, 1908 - April 20, 1999
GREELEY - Frances M. Weber, age 90, of Evans, formerly of Montrose, died on Tuesday, April 20, 1999, in the North Colorado Medical Center at Greeley.
Frances M. Lesoing was born in Hickman, Neb. on May 17, 1908, the daughter of Frank and Etta May (Williams) Lesoing. Frances attended a one-room country grade school and then drove a horse and cart three miles to high school in Hickman, where she graduated in 1926.
As a young girl, Frances began developing a lifelong interest in culinary arts and clothing construction, which enabled her to serve her own family as well as those of neighboring farm women.
She married Ben Weber on April 6, 1932, in the Methodist Church at Roca, Neb. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Firth, Neb. until 1936 when they moved to Montrose and farmed on Spring Creek Mesa. Frances planted large gardens and canned large quantities of fruits, vegetables, and meats for her family.
She was an active participant in the parent-teacher organization at her children's school, in the Sunshine Community Club, and was a 4-H club leader for several years. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church at Montrose.
Frances was employed as a cook at the Chipeta Cafe in Montrose, where she became well known for her pies. Later, she formed her own catering service for banquets and weddings.
After her retirement, Frances moved to Evans in the early 1970s and was able to fulfill her dream to travel to several of the states and parts of Canada. At the age of 70, she learned to swim and represented Greeley in the Senior Olympics for her age group. She also took a woodworking class at Aims Community College and constructed her own bedroom furniture and a spool chest.
Frances maintained an active interest in trying out new recipes, gardening, sewing and other needlework, photographing flowers and mountain scenery, oil painting, the quilting group, and the Presbyterian Women's Circle at her church, and especially her family.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Greeley, where she was active in the quilting group and the Presbyterian Women Circle No. 2. She was also a former member of the Greeley Art Association.
Survivors include one son, David E. Weber and wife Beverly, of Colorado Springs; one daughter, Joleita J. and husband Harold Felte, of Windsor; four grandchildren: Dale Felte, of Ault; Mark Weber and Mary Weber, both of Colorado Springs; Janice Sherwin, of El Cajon, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one brother, Melvin Lesoing and wife Lorraine, of Hickman, Neb.; and one sister, Madge May, of Luverne, Minn.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, and one grandson.
Funeral Services to honor and celebrate Frances' life will be officiated on Friday, April 23, at 2 p.m. from the First United Presbyterian Church in Greeley.
Interment will follow the service in the Linn Grove Cemetery, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th St., in Greeley.

George A. Wollbrinck
Retired Olathe Attorney
April 1, 1919 - April 24, 1999
OLATHE - World War II veteran and retired Olathe attorney, George A. Wollbrinck, age 80, a resident of Olathe since 1975, died early Saturday morning, April 24, 1999, in his Olathe home.
George A. Wollbrinck was born in Cozad, Neb., on April 1, 1919, the son of John H. and Mabel (Rhone) Wollbrinck. He spent his childhood in Baca County, Colo., and graduated from high school in Colorado.
He worked his way through college to get a little knowledge. He was an ignorant farm boy who did not know he should not be going to college during the Depression. George went to college in 1937 and continued receiving his education for seven years, earning his Doctor of Law degree. He entered the University of Colorado at Boulder with $65 in his pocket and spent half on the first quarter tuition and saved the other half for the second quarter now all he had to do was figure out how he was going to eat. During World War II, George served his country as a lieutenant in the 15th United States Air Force, and had achieved the rank of Major when he left the service. He was a hero, flying 57 missions rather than the customary 25 missions. George was also a Squadron Navigator.
During his career, George was a Deputy Attorney General, a judge at Lamar, Colo., was also a radio announcer on the side, and a retired Olathe attorney. He was the only attorney Olathe ever had.
He married Margaret "Rusty" Thompson on April 5, 1995, in Olathe, Colo. He was previously married to Ann Wollbrinck, who preceded him in death in 1992.
George moved to the State of Colorado in 1924 and made his home in the Denver area until moving to Olathe in 1975, where he remained until the time of his death.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Montrose, a lifetime member of the Montrose Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 784, and was a charter member of the Olathe Lions Club.
George loved to help others and also loved his yard work and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Rusty" Wollbrinck, of Olathe; one son, John Wollbrinck and wife Tammy, of Northglenn; three daughters: Joan Wollbrinck, of Manchester, N.H.; Kathleen and husband Ed Bader, of Florida and New York; Dawn Rossett, of Colorado; as well as numerous grandchildren; stepchildren, and stepgrandchildren.
George is also survived by his special friends: Hap and Lois Jantzen; and Leonard Campbell, all of Montrose.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ann, George was also preceded in death by three brothers.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday, April 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose.
Funeral Services to honor George's life will be officiated by Pastors Tom Belt and Emerson Taylor on Wednesday, April 28, at 3:30 p.m. from St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Montrose.
Interment will follow the service in the Olathe Cemetery, with Graveside Military Rites being conducted by the V.F.W.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Darrell D. Ross
Drove A Truck 34 Years
April 11, 1937 - April 25, 1999
OLATHE - Darrell D. Ross was born in Montrose, Colo., on April 11, 1937, the son of Merrill and Juanita (McAferty) Ross. He died on Sunday morning, April 25, 1999, in the Lutheran Medical Center at Lakewood, Colo. 14 days after celebrating his 62nd birthday. Darrell was a resident of Olathe.
He graduated from the Olathe High School in 1955.
On Aug. 1, 1959, Darrell married Judy Dalla. They later divorced and he married Kathy Fox on June 1, 1996.
Darrell drove a truck for 34 years, working for John Doyle Trucking, Montgomery Wards and Viking Freight. He drove over 4 million miles and received numerous safe driving awards.
He was a member of the Delta Elks Lodge and enjoyed working on his farm, fishing, and playing pool.
Survivors include his former wife, Judy; his wife, Kathy Ross, of Olathe; four daughters: Tammy Waldrep, of Denver; Teri Koons, of Henderson, Nev.; Janet and husband Joe Lapeyra, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Stephanie and husband Neal Sullivan, of Denver.
He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Kristopher Waldrep, Krystal Waldrep, Cody Koons, Jennifer Lapeyra, and Justin Lapeyra.
Other family survivors include one brother, Merrill Ross and wife Carole, of Lafayette, Ind.; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Darrell's life will be officiated on Wednesday, April 28, at 12:30 p.m. from Horan and McConaty Chapel in Denver. The service will conclude at the chapel.
Graveside Services will be conducted on Thursday, April 29, at 2 p.m. in the Grand View Cemetery
west of Montrose.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.
