PAOLETTI, Helen A.

July 9, 1917 - Feb. 4, 2003

Helen A. Paoletti of Longmont died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at her home. She was 85.

She was born July 9, 1917, to Martin and Anna (Shephard) Dobek in Indian Orchard, Mass. She graduated from Ludlow High School in Ludlow, Mass.

On July 23, 1941, she married Robert A. Paoletti in Indian Orchard.

Mrs. Paoletti owned and operated restaurants in Massachusetts and Florida and Paolettis Den restaurant in Longmont.

She moved to Longmont in 1974 from Florida. She moved back to Florida in 1984 and returned to Longmont in 1992.

Mrs. Paoletti was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed cooking, baking and taking care of her family.

Mrs. Paoletti was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; and two brothers, Edward Dobek and John Dobek.

She is survived by a son, Ronald A. Paoletti and his wife Robin of Estes Park; a daughter, Roberta A. Olson of Longmont; four grandchildren, Wayne Blanchette and his wife Julie of Westminster, Kevin Blanchette and his wife Lori of Wellington, Mark Blanchette, and Scott Olson and his wife Shannon, all of Longmont; and three great-grandchildren, Mallisa, Kara and Nicole.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Recitation of the rosary followed at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 6, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mickey Flaska of the church officiating.

Cremation will follow at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Hospice of Boulder County in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.

SCHAIBLE, William Edwin 'Bill'

July 2, 1931 - Feb. 4, 2003

William Edwin 'Bill' Schaible of Longmont died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at his home of cancer. He was 71.

He was born July 2, 1931, in Michigan, and was one of 16 children.

On May 10, 1968, he married Corrine Jane Corky Hollandsworth. They lived in Commerce City and Strausburg before moving to Longmont in November 1980.

Mr. Schaible worked for the Salvation Army in Colorado Springs. He was a professional truck driver for most of his career and was highly respected in his trade. After he retired, he drove a Special Transit bus for five years, where he made many friends.

He is survived by his wife of Longmont; an adopted daughter, Andrea; an adopted son, William; three sons, Billy Schaible and his wife Stacy, Michael Schaible and Melvin Schaible, all of Longmont; a daughter, Cheryl of Commerce City; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Visitation will not be held.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Hopewell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Corey Seulean officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, 1146 Kimbark St., Longmont 80501.

Howe Mortuary in Longmont is handling arrangements.

SIMMS, Thomas Elmer

SIMMS, Thomas Elmer, 80, of Lyons, died at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

TAGGART, Mary B.

TAGGART, Mary B., 87, of Longmont, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 4, 2002, at Life Care Center of Longmont. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, from 2 to 5 p.m., with the family present. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Howe Mortuary at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Pete Vanderveen officiating. Graveside service will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Longmont.

WING, Tracy

June 16, 1962 - Feb. 1, 2003

Tracy Wing of Longmont died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, in Longmont. She was 40.

She was born June 16, 1962, to Joe and Joan (Terry) Wing in Denver. She received an associate of arts degree from AIMS Community College and was currently attending Front Range Community College.

Ms. Wing was a lifelong resident of Longmont. She enjoyed helping others.

Ms. Wing was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ester and Paul Terry, and Irma A. and David E. Wing.

She is survived by a son, Brett Wing of Longmont; her parents; two sisters, Trudi Johnson of Longmont and Terri Soldo of Buena Vista; and two nephews.

Cremation has been held.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Crist Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Matthias Krier officiating.

Private inurnment will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brett Wing Parete Care Fund in care of Flatirons Bank, 5400 Mount Meeker Road, Boulder 80301.

WINTERFELDT, Harriet C.

WINTERFELDT, Harriet C., 60, of Longmont, Colo., died at Boulder Community Hospital on Feb. 1, 2003.

DRIETH, Henry R.

Oct. 5, 1925 - April 1, 2003

Henry R. Drieth of Longmont died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Sierra Vista Health Care facility in Loveland of cancer. He was 77.

He was born Oct. 5, 1925, to Henry Drieth Sr. and Anna (Burback) Drieth in Longmont, where he was raised. He spent most of his life in the Longmont area.

Mr. Drieth was retired from the Great Western Sugar Company and was a farmer for several years. After retirement, he was active in his lawn care service.

He was named in the "Top 10 Sugar Beet Growers" in 1958.

Mr. Drieth loved gardening and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Nancy in October 1985; a son, Leroy Drieth; a sister, Rose Biesel; and two brothers, Joe and Reinhold Drieth.

Mr. Drieth is survived by a daughter, Vickie Lynn Mahrling and her husband Clifford of Loveland; two sons, Doug and John Drieth, both of Loveland; a sister, Ann Houder; five brothers, Dan Drieth and his wife Rachel, Rheuben Drieth and his wife Mary, Walter Drieth and his wife Cindy, Isaac Drieth and his wife Dorothy and Abraham Drieth and his wife Delores; two sisters-in-law, Helen Hardwick and Jean Drieth; several grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many special friends in and around the Longmont area.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel, 503 Terry St.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, at Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel.

Interment will follow in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

ELY, Cassidy Ann

Dec. 7, 1978 - March 29, 2003

Cassidy Ann Ely of Longmont died Saturday, March 29, 2003. She was 24.

She was born Dec. 7, 1978.

She was a Colorado native and grew up in the Brighton area.

She attended Brighton High School, where she lettered in cross-country track in her sophomore year.

She was active in community 4-H programs with horses and sheep.

Ms. Ely had a special passion for taking care of the elderly. She worked at the Sterling House in Longmont and the Good Samaritan in Loveland. She often spent her time off going to the Sterling House and taking the residents to lunch.

She lived in North Carolina and Nevada for a short time before moving to Longmont.

Ms. Ely was a member of LifeBridge Christian Church.

Ms. Ely enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls and Elvis memorabilia. She had started a collection of "Precious Moments" for her daughter.

She will be remembered for having a special way of touching the hearts of those around her. Sharing time with her daughter was the most important thing in her life.

Ms. Ely was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Arlene and Eldridge Chubbuck.

She is survived by her parents; a brother, Billy Cuba of Longmont; two sisters, Jessica and Sarah Cuba of Longmont; her daughter, Angela Marie Ely; Angela's father, Richard "Shane" Ely of Las Vegas; her paternal grandparents, Ray and Darlene Cuba of Concord, Neb.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Private funeral services were held Friday, April 4, at LifeBridge Christian Church.

Interment was held at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cassidy Ann Ely Memorial Fund for her daughter's education in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.

FROLOFF, Jan Michelle, 42, of Longmont, passed away at her home.

GOETZ, Eleanor L.

April 10, 1905 - April 4, 2003

Eleanor L. Goetz of Boulder died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Boulder Manor. She was 97.

Mrs. Goetz was born April 10, 1905, in Riverdale, N.Y., to John Meyer and Catherine (Thoener) Meyer.

On March 2, 1930, she married Philip A. Goetz in Riverdale.

In 1994, Mrs. Goetz moved from New York to Boulder.

Mrs. Goetz graduated from Mount St. Vincent College in New York and earned her masters degree from New York University. An avid reader, she was a teacher and guidance counselor for public schools in New York.

Mrs. Goetz was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who died in 1994.

She is survived by her son, Philip John Goetz and his wife Helen of Mount Kisco, N.Y.; two daughters, Joan Minck and her husband Lawrence of Tucson, Ariz.; and Susan Kathie Gunn of Boulder, formerly of Longmont; a brother, Richard Meyer and his wife Jeanette of Las Cruces, N.M.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

No local services will be held. A memorial luncheon will be held in her honor in New York at a later date. Cremation is at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

ORTIZ, Felix

Nov. 20, 1931 - April 3, 2003

Felix Ortiz Sr. of Commerce City died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at his daughters home. He was 71.

Mr. Ortiz was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Lamar, Colo., to Gerardo Ortiz and Matilda (Salazar) Ortiz.

He married Dora Andrade in Raton, N.M.

He worked as a carpenter and did construction work until his retirement in 1993.

Mr. Ortiz served in the U.S. Army as a light weapons infantry man, achieving the rank of private second class. He was discharged from active duty and then served in the reserves for five years.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and was a Bronze Leader for the Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Ortiz was a member of the Our Lady of the Mother Catholic Church in Commerce City, where he moved in 1979 from Granada, Colo.

He was a musician for 60 years, performing as a band leader. He enjoyed teaching his children to play music.

Mr. Ortiz was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of Commerce City; five sons, Felix Ortiz Jr. and his wife Sylvia of Corona, Calif., Paul Ortiz and his wife Rose of Brighton, Ron Ortiz of Queens, N.Y., Edward Ortiz and his wife Kari Wright Ortiz of Longmont, and Floyd Ortiz of Denver; a daughter, Priscilla Ortiz of Henderson, Colo.; two brothers, Lino Ortiz of Denver and Martin Ortiz; five sisters, Josephine Martinez of Granada, Rachel Delerosa, Helen Ortiz, Frances Ortiz and Florence Ortiz; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Our Lady of the Mother Catholic Church, 6690 E. 72nd Ave., Commerce City. Rosary prayers will be held at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the church, with the Rev. Terry Kissell celebrant.

Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Metro Denver in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.
