GANGWISH, Howard L. 'Shortie'

Dec. 29, 1917 - June 3, 2004

Howard L. Shortie Gangwish of Juniata, Neb., died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. He was 86.

He was born Dec. 29, 1917, to Earl and Nellie (Gish) Gangwish on a farmstead southwest of Juniata in Adams County, Neb. Mr. Gangwish attended Juniata Public School until the 11th grade. He graduated from Roseland High School in Roseland, Neb., in 1935.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from Jan. 22, 1941, to June 24, 1945, with a tour of duty that included England, North Africa, Sicily and mainland Italy.

Following his discharge from the Corps, he returned to Juniata to farm.

He married Doris L. Wiltrout on Jan. 10, 1954.

He was a lifelong resident of the Juniata area and a member of the Juniata Community Church. He was also active in the Juniata American Legion Post No. 365.

Mr. Gangwish was preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of Juniata; three sons, Howard D. Gangwish of Hastings, Neb., Dick Gangwish of Hastings and Denny Gangwish and his wife Carol of David City, Neb.; a daughter, Susan Nemeth and her husband Joe of Longmont; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Norma Wagner of Garden Grove, Calif., Marilyn Stromer of Juniata and Carolyn Cook of Lincoln, Neb.; and three brothers, Richard Gangwish of Reno, Nev., Bill Gangwish of Hastings and Jerry Gangwish of Sutton, Neb.

A visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 6, and 9 a.m. until the services on Monday, June 7.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, at Butler-Vollland Chapel, 1225 N. Elm Ave. in Hastings, with the Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial with military rights will be at the Juniata Cemetery in Juniata.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Gangwish family.

HENRY, Michael

March 25, 1948 - June 3, 2004

Michael Neil Henry of Fort Collins died of natural causes in Fort Collins on Thursday, June 3, 2004. He was 56.

He was born on March 25, 1948, to Mary (Conway) and Glen B. Henry in Hastings, Neb.

Mr. Henry spent his life in the Longmont and Fort Collins area. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1966 and continued his education at Colorado State University. He recently completed the Carpenters Apprentice Program and worked in construction. He loved sports, including hockey, soccer, and fishing. He also enjoyed participating in the Boy Scouts when his sons were young.

He is survived by his mother Mary Henry of Longmont; two sons, Brandon Henry and his wife Heather of Petaluma, Calif., and Ryan Henry of Fort Collins; two brothers, Robert Henry and Roger Henry, both of Longmont; and three sisters, Karen Henry of Longmont, Mary Alison Henry and her husband Joseph Keith of Manitou Springs, and Gwen Schell and her husband Jim of Longmont.

A memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at St. John The Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Flaska as celebrant. Interment will follow at Foothills Garden Of Memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.

HILL, Gordon Eugene

March 2, 1917 - June 8, 2004

Gordon Eugene Hill of Glenwood Springs died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at his home. He was 87.

He was born March 2, 1917, in Longmont to Walter M. and Frances M. Hill. Mr. Hill graduated from Longmont High School in 1935. He obtained a bachelors degree in civil and irrigation engineering in 1940 from Colorado A & M College in Fort Collins.

Mr. Hill married Marie Patricia Casey of Longmont on Sept. 26, 1940, at St. Josephs Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

At the time of his marriage, he was employed with the Tennessee Valley Authority. He worked with the authority until May 1943, when he joined the U.S. Navy Civil Engineering Corps. He served as an officer during World War II until February 1946, and later in the reserves.

Mr. Hill worked with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation from 1946 until his retirement in 1973.

He was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid downhill skier and fisherman, and enjoyed hunting, golf, swimming, bicycling, gardening, travel and ballroom dancing.

Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Robert M. Hill; and a great-grandson, Vicente Bullock.

He is survived by four daughters, Catherine Bullock and her husband Charly of Albuquerque, N.M., Jacqueline Durrett and her husband Dick of Glenwood Springs, Margaret Mortensen and her husband Duane of Divide Creek, Colo., and Patricia Hill of Glenwood Springs; two sisters, Gladys McCann of Sedro Wooley, Wash., and Patsy Dkeyman of Cheyenne, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, at St. Stephens Church, with the Rev. Joseph Boyle of St. Benedicts Monastery officiating. Interment will be at Rosebud Cemetery. Recitation of the rosary will be Thursday, June 10, at Farnum-Holt Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Grand Junction or Roaring Fork Hospice in Glenwood Springs.

JAMES, Saralee

March 31, 1941 - June 5, 2004

Saralee James, formerly of Longmont, passed away in her home in McPherson, Kan., surrounded by her family and many friends on Saturday, June 5, 2004.

Saralee was born March 31, 1941, in Portland, Ore., and grew up in Pueblo. She was the daughter of Doris and Frank Reiter and Louise and John Salmonson. Saralee graduated from Central High School in Pueblo in the spring of 1959 and began attending Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., the following fall. She graduated from Bethany in 1963.

Saralee met Alan James at Bethany and they were married at Tabor Lutheran Church in Pueblo on Dec. 27, 1961. This union was blessed with three wonderful children; Janice (James) Ringeisen, Beth (James) Hedberg and Andrew James.

The family resided in Longmont, where all the kids were born, then later in California, and finally in Kansas where Saralee truly enjoyed settling down. She was teacher, a homemaker and most importantly a Mom, a task that she took very seriously. She loved to cook, garden, entertain, quilt, scrapbook, travel by RV and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and music in general.

Her memberships included Elim Lutheran Church, Elim WELCA Group, P.E.O. Chapter CJ, and MWL at Marquette, Kan. Saralee especially enjoyed attending Christian womens retreats and managed to attend many of them over the years.

She is survived by her husband Alan; daughter Janice Ringeisen and her husband Ross and daughters, Krista, Amy and Katie of Truman, Minn.; daughter Beth Hedberg and her husband Quint and children Jill, Luke and Ethan of rural Marquette; and son Andrew and his wife Jonie and children Lori, Megan, Nathan and Kaylee of rural McPherson; parents Frank and Doris Reiter of Pueblo; brothers, Mike Reiter and wife Mardel of Silverdale, Wash., and Gary Reiter and wife Arlene of Seattle; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Elim Lutheran Church in Marquette, with interment at Marquette Lutheran Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lindsborg Community Hospital Caregivers or Elim Lutheran Church in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

LANDOLT, Fred

July 12, 1907 - May 23, 2004

Frederick George Landolt of Longmont died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at his residence. He was 96.

He was born July 12, 1907, in Omaha, Neb., to Balthasar and Bertha (Hodel) Landolt. The family moved to Longmont in 1917.

On Oct. 24, 1933, Mr. Landolt married Mary Lorene Vick at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont.

He worked as an electrician his entire life and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 68 in Denver for most of his career. He retired in 1976.

Mr. Landolt was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, reading and traveling. With his wife, he traveled most of the United States, from Alaska to Florida.

Mr. Landolt was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Jean Landolt; a brother, Joseph Landolt; and a sister, Martha Ryan.

He is survived by four sons, Jack Landolt and his wife Pat of Red Feather Lakes, Jim Landolt and his wife Carol of Longmont, Dave Landolt and his wife Joanne of Longmont and Tom Landolt and his wife Patti of Easley, S.C.; four sisters, Jeanette Just and her husband Louis of Platteville, JoAnn Prucha and her husband Fran of Berthoud, Nancy Landolt and her husband Lewis Stickford of Tucson, Ariz., and Margie Staggers of Pratt, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. through the recitation of the rosary today, Tuesday, May 25, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.

Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Brian Morrow as celebrant. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Building Fund, 323 Collyer St., Longmont 80501.

SEGOVIA, Marie A. Martinez

Sept. 9, 1965 - May 31, 2004

Marie A. Martinez Segovia of Citrus Heights, Calif., formerly of Longmont, died May 31, 2004. She was 38.

Ms. was born Sept. 9, 1965, in Longmont to Juan A. John Martinez and Angie DeHerrera Martinez.

She was a homemaker and mother. Born and raised in Longmont, Ms. Segovia liked to draw. Her priority was her family. She had a good sense of humor and was always joking with people.

She was preceded in death by her father and one son, Juan Luis Martinez.

She is survived by her mother, Angie Baca and her husband Larry of Longmont; one son, Richard Herrada of Platteville; two daughters, Sarah Perez of Longmont and Jennifer Zapata of Grand Prairie, Texas; one brother, Tony Martinez of Sioux City, Iowa; three sisters, Anna Duran, Aurora Lopez and Laura Martinez, all of Longmont; and five grandchildren, Sinonae, Viviana, Izeth, Adriana and Nayeli.

Visitation will be held today, Sunday, June 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

The funeral service will be held Monday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Christoph Pott of Celebration Christian Center officiating.

Cremation will follow the services at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Marie Martinez Segovia Fund in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.

STRATY, Rosemarie

STRATY, Rosemarie, 73, of Boulder, passed away June 3, 2004, at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Care Center in Louisville. No services are planned. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

STULL, Patricia

March 6, 1934 - June 3, 2004

Patricia Stull of McCoy, Colo., died Thursday, June 3, 2004, in Vail. She was 70.

She was born March 6, 1934, to Carl and Ruth (Dunbar) Belk in Dunbar, Neb., a town founded by her great-grandfather.

Mrs. Stull spent her childhood in Dunbar. She later graduated from Casey Junior High School in Boulder. She had also lived in Oregon. Mrs. Stull had been a resident of McCoy for 17 years at the time of her death.

She married Jake Stull on Aug. 10, 1962, in Golden.

Mrs. Stull was a typist for Neodata for 27 years.

She enjoyed cooking, camping and traveling and loved animals. She will be remembered for never allowing her guests to leave her home hungry.

Mrs. Stull is survived by her husband of McCoy; two sons, Timothy Stull and James Stull of McCoy; a daughter, Vaunette Stull of Longmont; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 7, at Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle, with the Rev. Dave Bottroff officiating. Interment will follow.

Farnum Holt Funeral Home of Glenwood Springs is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in care of Vail Valley Medical Center.

VOSBURY, Elizabeth Janette

July 21, 1913 - May 30, 2004

Elizabeth Janette Vosbury of Boulder died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 90.

Mrs. Vosbury was born July 21, 1913, in Binghamton, N.Y., to Lloyd M. Badger and Alice Boardman.

She married Stuart A. Vosbury on Nov. 21, 1936, in New York.

Mrs. Vosbury moved to Boulder County in 1973. She was a retired registered nurse and was a member of Niwot United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile.

Mrs. Vosbury was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by a daughter, Minetta A. Knowlden of Berthoud; and two sons, Lloyd A. Vosbury of Binghamton and Edward S. Vosbury of Lafayette.

Funeral services will be held today, Sunday, June 6, in Endicott, N.Y. Interment will be in Knox Cemetery in New York.

Erlinger Cremation and Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

AERTS, Thelma Marie

Oct. 23, 1921 - June 2, 2004

Thelma Marie Aerts of Payson, Ariz., formerly of Longmont, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, in Payson as the result of a household accident. She was 82.

She was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Boone, Colo.

The family lived in Washington state and Oregon before moving to Colorado in 1963.

Mrs. Aerts was a homemaker and a retired employee of Sherwood Enterprises in Longmont.

After her retirement, Mrs. Aerts moved to North Carolina, then to Payson to live in a retirement apartment complex.

Her interests included volunteer work, music concerts, movies, nature and playing games with her friends.

She will be remembered for her kindness by everyone she touched in life.

Mrs. Aerts was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Aerts; and a brother, Jack Rumsey.

She is survived by a sister, Vera Bates; a son, Tom Aerts of Longmont; two daughters, Kathleen Auston-Reilly of Novato, Calif., and Jodi Aerts of Eure, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

A family service will be held in Novato in the near future.

No memorial contributions are necessary.
