Ashley Marie Doolittle
May 20, 1998 - June 09, 2016

Ashley Marie Doolittle, 18, of Loveland, Colorado, loving daughter, sister, and friend, died on June 9, 2016. She was born on May 20, 1998 in Louisville, Colorado.
Ashley, who graduated this spring from Berthoud High School, had been a member of Boulder County 4-H for 8 years where her love of horses showed with her involvement in the horse project, horse judging, horse bowl and hippology teams. She also served as Vice President of Thompson FFA. Her accolades included competing on numerous national horse judging teams and was named the champion high individual overall in the National 4-H Western Roundup and the State FFA competitions. She learned to ride when she was five years old and was an accomplished rider and competitor. In addition to her love of horses, she was passionate about agriculture and used her experiences and role as Boulder County Fair and Rodeo Lady-in-Waiting to educate others about agriculture and the western lifestyle. She was looking forward to pursuing this passion as a freshman at Colorado State University in the fall.
Ashley had a smile that made everyone feel special. She truly reflected God’s love to all she came in contact with and she was an inspiration and role model to each person she encountered. She lived life to the fullest and lit up the world with her enthusiasm for life. Ashley will continue to live in the hearts of everyone that knew her.

In lieu of flowers, we would ask that donations be made to support the Ashley Doolittle Princess Program. This program is to help foster the love of rodeo in young girls who show an interest in the royalty community. This was Ashley's dream when she was crowned Lady-in-Waiting and the royalty committee plans to continue her legacy. Her compassion and love of the rodeo will shine through this program and will influence future leaders in our fair, rodeo, and royalty communities. Donations can be made to Boulder County Fair Royalty and sent to the Treasurer, Katie Richardson, at 758 S. Juniper Ct, Milliken, CO 80543.

Bobby Woods Craig, Sr.

Bobby Woods Craig, Sr. was a wonderful, extraordinary man born on December 17, 1938 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Merido and Orene Craig. His family lived on "The Dry" land outside of Manzanola until Bob started school. They moved to La Junta, but continued to spend a lot of time with their family and friends in Manzanola. After high school, Bob enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at many different places around the world. In the early 1980's, Bob returned to the Arkansas Valley to help his aging parents. He was a selfless man who always thought of other's needs before his own.
During Bob's Air Force years, the military determined Bob had a strong aptitude for learning different languages. He was stationed in France and sent to college at the University of Paris to learn French. During the Vietnam War, Bob was a paratrooper and interpreter. While stationed in Japan, he learned to speak Japanese. Bob enjoyed the state of the art technology he was exposed to in the Air Force. He learned many skills while he was enlisted including airplane mechanics. Bob was able to use the GI Bill to complete his bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of Maryland.
Bob had many talents and skills. Not many people have the knowledge and abilities that he had. He was a hardworking man starting at a very young age. Bob began working when he was only 6 years old. He worked with Joe Jordan in his cleaning business sweeping floors and emptying trash or doing whatever Joe taught him to do. Bob was always very driven. As an adult, he often worked more than one job. In Las Vegas, he had been both an accountant and the sous chef at Caesar's Palace. Bob owned and managed his own cleaning business called Consolidated Maintenance. After returning to Colorado, he worked at Colorado Boys Ranch. Bob taught many of the boys work skills and ethics. He was in charge of support services and he was a positive public face in the community representing the Boys Ranch in many events. During Bob's last years of work, he drove the special needs bus for East Otero School District, he sold and set up manufactured homes, and he drove a bus for Child Development Services.
Bob earned many awards in his lifetime. He was a decorated veteran earning a purple heart for his military service. He also earned the Sunshine Award at the La Junta Wake Up Breakfast in 1990. Bob was and is respected by many.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, but he especially enjoyed fishing. He found it calming to sit outside and listen to the wind blow. Bob was a dedicated Broncos fan cheering them on in good times and bad. He enjoyed boxing and even had the opportunity to try and hit Muhammad Ali at a promotional event in Las Vegas.
No words can describe the loss that is felt by his family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife Rebecca and children Rachel Craig, Chloe Craig, Briggette (Roger) Seafus, Bobby Craig Jr., Monette Davis, Serena Jefferson, Jennifer Craig, Candace Craig, and William Craig. He is also survived by his sisters Janis Sproles, Edith Brown, Darlene (Arthur) Derbigny, and Sandra Johnson. He leaves behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Merido and Orene Craig, brothers Gail, Gilbert, and Wardell.

Larry Wilbern Baker

Larry Wilbern Baker, was born on January 31, 1955 in La Junta to Elvis & Doris (States) Baker, he was the second of three children and the first son. As told by Elvis he was always fearless and never cried. Elvis often states "Larry was always my little man."
Growing up Larry enjoyed visiting his grandparents and uncles in Olney Springs. Larry often spoke of playing with cousins, hunting, farming and riding horses during these visits.
Larry attended school and graduated from Rocky Ford High School, Class of 1973. He met his future wife Kim at the La Junta Church of Christ and on December 14th 1975 married the love of his live. They made their home in La Junta and there they raised their two children Lanette and Shane.
He was employed for 17 years at the Otero County Road and Bridge and 5 years for Tri County Housing. He owned Baker's Pawn in Rocky Ford for 10 years and Baker's Construction for over 30 years.
He was deeply loved by his family and has left them with many happy memories of their time together. Memories of camping, fishing, shooting, hunting, riding horses and carnival rides at the fair.
He was a very talented carpenter and all around handyman. There was nothing he couldn't fix or build. He and Lanette worked many days and nights on her first car, a 1964 Mercury Comet. After buying the car they discovered it was a rare model and parts for it were nearly impossible to find. The time they spent working together on the car made it special to them both.
Larry was a quiet man but he also was a practical joker and loved to joke and play with his kids, nieces, nephews and of course his grandchildren. He was often called the "baby whisperer" and sometimes a "baby hog or thief." He was often one of the first to hold his new grandbabies and would sit and stare at them in wonder for what seemed like an eternity.
For all that knew Larry they knew he had a passion for motorcycles. Shane remembers riding on the gas tank in front of his dad and his sister riding behind dad when they were children.
Larry had a stroke 2 1/2 years ago and after a long fight he found peace on October 26, 2015 at Parkview Medical Center, he was surrounded by his family and was fearless to the end.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kim of the La Junta home; daughter, Lanette (Monty) White of Sayre, PK; son, Shane (Amanda) Baker of La Junta; father, Elvis Baker of La Junta; eight grandchildren, Clay, Kasandra, Kaylyn, Colin, Kaycee, Karsen, Mattie and Kate; and special friend and caretaker, Lexi Dawson and many other friends and relatives.
