Jeremy John Guida

Jeremy John Guida of Omaha, Neb., died on Monday, Feb. 14, 2005.
He was 27 years old.
Mr. Guida graduated from Hueneme High School in Oxnard, Calif., in 1996.
An honor student, he was listed in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” for three straight years.
Born with Spina Bifida, Mr. Guida participated in wheelchair athletics in his early teens, winning numerous trophies and medals in various swimming and track & field events.
His favorite and most successful event was swimming, and he consistently set new national time records and won several gold medals.
Mr. Guida attended both the University of Texas at Arlington and University of Nebraska at Omaha.
He enjoyed football, basketball and professional wrestling.
His favorite football teams were the Nebraska Cornhuskers and San Diego Chargers. His favorite basketball team was the Detroit Pistons.
Mr. Guida worked for Securities America, Inc. of Omaha, Neb., for more than six years.
He is survived by his mother, Judith Alkonis Waligorski of Broomfield; his father, Louis Guida Jr. of Oxnard, Calif.; his brothers, Louis Guida III of Highlands Ranch and Mark Guida of Fayetteville, N.C.; his grandparents, Darlene Guida of Omaha, Neb., and Stanley Alkonis of Louisville; his nephew, Jack Guida; and, many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral services took place on Saturday, Feb. 19, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Papillion, Neb.
Interment followed at the Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha, Neb.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Spina Bifida Association of America, 4590 MacArthur Blvd., NW, Suite 250, Washington, D.C., 20007-4226.
Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler Mortuaries of Omaha, Neb., handled the arrangements.

Dorothy B. Nordstrom

Dorothy B. Nordstrom of Longmont died on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in Louisville. She was 89 years old. Mrs. Nordstrom was born on Nov. 23, 1915, to Harley and Hazel Hathaway Johnson in Greeley. On Nov. 21, 1938, she married Paul “Pete” L. Nordstrom in Denver. On her family’s farm northeast of Broomfield, Mrs. Nordstrom often helped with chores and cooked for the work crews. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Nordstrom enjoyed cooking, knitting and sewing. She was a member of the Neighborhood Club, the Eastlake Congregational Church and served as a delegate with the Adams County Democrats. Mrs. Nordstrom also participated in 4-H programs in Adams County and won numerous leadership awards for her service. Mrs. Nordstrom is survived by her nephew, nieces and their family members. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Floyd and Gayle; and, her sisters Margie, Virginia and Jerri. Services took place on Monday, March 7, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette. Pastor Jon Almgren officiated. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Eastlake Congregational Church, 12630 2nd Ave., Eastlake, Colo. Darrell Howe Mortuary of Lafayette handled the arrangements.

Barbara Mae West

Barbara Mae West of Lafayette died on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, in Westminster.
She was 64 years old.
Ms. West was born on Aug. 25, 1940, to Edwine H. and Rosa Mae Fields Keigley in Bartlesville, Okla.
In 1963, she married Frank Borges.
The couple later divorced.
In October 1995, she married Manuel West in Las Vegas.
Ms. West moved to Lafayette in 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Rose Covington of Westminster; her two sons, David and Steve Borges, both of San Jose, Calif.; her sister, Trudy Bruce of Westminster; her brother, Bob Stacy of Sacramento, Calif.; and, one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel.
Services have already taken place.
Avalon Funeral Home of Lafayette handled the arrangements.

Thelma Lavarra Fraker

Thelma Lavarra Fraker of Boulder, formerly of Louisville and Lafayette, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, in Louisville.
She was 92 years old.
Ms. Fraker was born June 24, 1912, to George David and Elizabeth (Brammer) Cook in Louisville.
On June 20, 1930, she married Emory Tyson Fraker Sr. in Laramie, Wyo.
Ms. Fraker worked as a bartender at Tom’s Tavern in Boulder for 10 years.
She was a member of the VFW, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Lafayette and the Moose Lodge of Boulder.
She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and dancing.
Ms. Fraker is survived by her sister, Rita Bird of Broomfield; a daughter, Jacqueline D. (Gary) Rodermel of Lafayette; a son, Emory T. (Ramona) Fraker Jr. of Lemoore, Calif.; and, 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory; a daughter, Mona L. Sampson; and a son, Leroy Fraker.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 110 W. Simpson St., Lafayette.
Father Bob Amundsen will officiate.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder.
Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post No. 1771 Mile High of Lafayette.

Joe I. Maes Jr.

Joe I. Maes Jr. of Louisville died on Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, in Louisville.
He was 73 years old.
Mr. Maes was born on May 6, 1931, to Joseph I. Maes Sr. and Esther Montoya Maes in Delta.
On May 29, 1965, he married Virginia Lorenzi Maes in Boulder.
He lived in Boulder from 1949-1997 before moving to Louisville.
Mr. Maes was a member of American Legion Post No. 111.
He enjoyed golfing and gardening. He also was an avid reader.
Mr. Maes is survived by his wife, Virginia; his son, Carl Jon Aragon; his four daughters, Nicole Garcia, Linda Getman, Star Howes and Karen Young; a brother, Charles Maes; a sister, Jeanne Witte; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Esther; four sisters, Madeleine Maes, Elise Vera, Carmen Collins and Stella Maes; and, two brothers, Reuben and Johnny Maes.
A visitation followed by recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 10, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Ave., Louisville.
The Rev. Henri Tshibambe will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Louisville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Suite A, Lafayette, Colo., 80026, or the St. Louis Catholic Church Building Fund.

Rosemary Agnes Jensen

Rosemary Agnes Jensen of Lafayette died on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Avista Adventis Hospital in Louisville, Colorado.
She was 83 years old.
Mrs. Jensen was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Detroit to William and Alice Welch. After growing up in Ohio, she returned to Detroit and joined the U.S. Marine Corps on April 27, 1944. She served as a Corporal in the USMC Womens Reserves in San Francisco until April 5, 1946.
While stationed there, she met and married Frances E. Jensen on March 19, 1946.
They moved to Colorado eventually settling in Idaho Springs. In 1987, she moved to Lafayette.
She loved to read, follow all sports, play the slot machines and amaze all that knew her with her keen mind and fabulous memory.
Mrs. Jensen is survived by her sons, Kim Jensen of Leadville, and Mark Jensen of Lafayette; her daughter, Lori Simons of Superior; her five grandchildren, Shauna, Shamane, Luke, Ashley and Max; and her sister, Alice Neumann.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frances E. Jensen; her daughter, Mary Jensen; and, her brother James Welch.
Services took place at noon, Monday, April 4, 2005, at Crown Hill Chapel of Peace, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Denver.
A private interment will follow at the Fort Logan Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of your choice.

Michael Fuqua

Michael Fuqua of Erie died on Friday, March 4, 2005, in Erie. He was 33 years old. Mr. Fuqua was born on May 13, 1972, to Stephen and Kay Fuqua in Boulder. He married Kerri L. Monroe in Lafayette. Mr. Fuqua is survived by his wife Kerri Fuqua; his sons, Michael and Jacob Fuqua; his daughter, Amber Fuqua; his parents, Michael and Kay Fuqua; and, his siblings, Lenore, James, and Dwayne, all of Erie. Services took place on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette. Darrell Howe Mortuary of Lafayette handled the arrangements.

Barbara Jean Roberts

Barbara Jean Roberts of Broomfield died on Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Louisville. She was 56 years old. Mrs. Roberts was born on Dec. 16, 1948, to Edward Vincent Arroyas and Evangeline Duran Arroyas in Boulder. In September 1972, she married William Monroe Roberts in Boulder. Mrs. Roberts resided in Louisville from 1948-1970; Fort Collins from 1970-1981; Lafayette from 1981-1994; and, Broomfield from 1994-2005. Mrs. Roberts worked for the federal government for 39 years. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, her cats, and her family. Mrs. Roberts is survived by her daughters, Alison Jean Roberts-Marshall, Jessica Evangeline Roberts, Kellee June Bennell, Christine Cecilia Nava-Roberts, and Stephanie Renee Roberts, all of Broomfield; her mother, Evangeline Arroyas of Louisville; her sisters, Sharon Lee Maes of Louisville, and Kathleen Lopez of Longmont; and, one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Monroe Roberts; her father, Edward Vincent Arroyas; and, her brother, Edward A. Arroyas. A visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel, 1701 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette. A service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 10, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Ave., Louisville. Father Henri Tshibambe will officiate. Interment will take place at the Louisville Cemetery. Darrell Howe Mortuary of Lafayette is handling the arrangements.

Bruce R. Savage

Bruce R. Savage of Longmont died Friday, March 11, 2005.
He was 65 years old.
Mr. Savage was born April 15, 1939, to Ward Franklin Savage and Ethyland Brown in Salt Lake City.
On Aug. 1, 1963, he married Ilene Call in Salt Lake City.
Mr. Savage grew up in Animong, Utah. He graduated from Piute High School and earned a masters degree in electrical engineering from Utah State University.
Mr. Savage served his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand from 1959-1961.
He moved to Boulder in 1969, to Louisville in 1979, and to Longmont in 2004.
He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1965-1967.
While in Colorado, Mr. Savage served as a bishop for the LDS church three times in Boulder and Louisville. He also was a stake president for the Boulder Stake.
Mr. Savage worked as an electrical engineer for Bell Labs and AT&T in Broomfield and Denver. He retired in 1996.
He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and gardening.
Mr. Savage is survived by his wife Ilene Savage of Longmont; his sons, Mark (Kristen) Savage of Superior and Paul (Ashley) Savage of Longmont; his daughters, Teri Lyn (Scott) Kolb of Webb City, Mo., Suzanne Savage of Lafayette, and Sharon (Sam) Davis of Longmont; his brothers, Frank Savage of Spanish Fork, Utah, Bill Savage of Richfield, Utah, and Jerry Savage of Cedar City, Utah; and, his grandchildren, Andrew, Garrett Kolb, Quinten Kolb, Caroline Kolb, Anson Savage, Levi Savage and Jefferson Savage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Ethyland Savage.
Visitations are scheduled for 6 p.m., Friday, March 18, and 8:30 a.m., Saturday, March 19, at the Louisville Stake Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 701 South Boulder Road, Louisville.
A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., also at the Louisville Stake Center. Bishop Dale Cox will officiate.
Interment will take place at the Louisville Cemetery.
Ahlberg Funeral Chapel of Longmont is handling the arrangements.
