Armithus Harrison Jackson-Spencer
His smile and his laugh may be gone,
but his memory will never be forgotten
by many. Sixteen-year-old Armithus
Harrison Jackson-Spencer left his home
and family on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004.
He has lived in Bailey with the Kennedy
family for a little over two years. He
passed away peacefully in his bed. The
Platte Canyon Rescue Service and Platte Canyon Fire
Department tried to resusitate him, but he let us know he
was finished here on earth and was needed in heaven.
He left many family members and extended family
members to carry on with his memory:
Mom Glennetta Jackson of Aurora; step-mom Sunya
Spencer; sisters Whitne, Andreanna and Alexa; brothers
Jaden and Adrian; foster family Ben and Melanie Kennedy;
siblings Sharon, Benjie, Amanda, James, Laurie, Nikki,
Angel, Katrina, Cori, Monita, Nick, Kris, Jake, Paul, Eddie,
Matthew and Seth; brother-in-law Jake and baby Angel.
Harrison, as he was known by all, was honored at a
memorial service at the Platte Canyon High School Canyon
Room on Thursday. There is a viewing today from 4-9 p.
m. at Codwell Kirt Funeral Home. A funeral will be held
Saturday at 11 a.m. at True Light Baptist Church in Aurora.
Everyone who knew and loved him are welcome. All his
friends, family and teachers will miss him. Thank you all in
the Bailey community for welcoming Harrison into your
hearts and giving him two wonderful years of his life.

Doris Lavern Spann
Doris Lavern Spann, a resident of
Como, Colo. since 1949, and
beloved mother passed away on
Nov. 15, 2004. She was born on
Oct. 28, 1920, in Diagonal, Iowa.
She rejoiced in the love of her family
and friends who will miss her until
the day of hope rejoins us all. She
married Ben A. Spann who preceded
her in death on March 6, 1999. She
is survived by her four sons, Stephen, Gerald, Donald,
John Mark; and her daughter, Debra Purcella. Doris is the
grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of 16.
She will be cremated and join her husband among the
Como mountains they loved so much and taught their
family to love as well. Memorial services will be held at
Westland Baptist Church, 430 S. Kipling, Lakewood, Colo.
at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19. Refreshments will be served
and old friendships reinforced after services. Access to the
church is by turning East at the first traffic light south of
Alameda.

loss, but are lifted by the hope of tomorrow.

Allan E. Dodson
Allan E. Dodson, born to Charles W. and Etta G. Warner
Dodson on May 20, 1930, in Gosper County, Neb.,
peacefully passed away on Nov. 22, 2004, at the age of 74.
Allan grew up in rural Nebraska. At age 12, he went to
work in agriculture. In January of 1951, Allan enlisted in
the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served in the Korean
War, gaining the rank of corporal. After returning to his
home town of Holdredge, Neb., he married Dolores M.
Hambidge on March 7, 1953. They had two children, Arlan
and Annette. During the course of the next 15 years, the
family lived in Arapahoe, Neb.; Fairplay, Colo.; and
Holbrook, Neb. In 1969, they permanently moved to
Colorado. Allan’s occupations included a custom hay
operation, ranching and lastly becoming Road and Bridge
Administrator for Park County. In 1994 Allan and his wife
retired to Nathrop, Colo.
Allan is survived by his wife of 51 years, two children son
Arlan (Fran) Dodson and his daughter Annette (Ron)
Knotts. Five grandchildren Brad, Patti, Travis, Caleb,
Patience and three great grandchildren Nicole, Kane and
Owen. He was proceeded in death by one sister and three
brothers. Allan’s memory will be honored and cherished by
all who knew him.

Henry J. Biays
Survived by wife Marie, son Jeff, daughter Jessica parents
Don and Joan, sister Kathy and numerous family
members. Celebration of Life on Friday at 10 a.m. at
Ridgeview Baptist Church. Burial with full military honors
at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.

Charles Cowan
Charles Cowan of Lakewood died Nov.
10, 2004 at Sierra Vista Health Care Center
in Loveland. He was 95. He was born
in Como, September 27, 1909, to
Claude Matthew Cowan and Nina Cora
(Jones) Cowan. His maternal
grandfather, Charles Jones, worked
for the C & S here, and later maintained the town
cemetery and the school building.
In his youth Charles worked with his parents on the Pete
Schattinger Ranch and the Furman Ranch. Charles was an
avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and trapping
in the Como area. He attended high school in Victor and
later in Como, then worked in the mill at the Climax
Molybdenum Mine for 17 years. Charles married Mae
(Stewart) Nord in Rifle in July 1931. She died in 1946. He
married Helen Louise Case in July 1947 in Estes Park. She
died in 1980. He married Penny Pinkous in Boulder in July
1986.
Charles served many years as financial secretary of the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 111;
and he was a life member of the Boulder Elks Lodge No.
556. He had many interest including cooking, baking,
brewing his own wine and beer, travelling and telling a
good joke.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Chris of Ashland Ore.
and Clifford or Longmont; a daughter Patricia Deepe of
Parshall; three stepsons, Jay Kokora, Steven Kokora and
Patrick Kokora; three stepdaughters, Kathy Kokora, Jean
Albert and Jamey Knipps; 29 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother,
Claude and a stepson Warren Nord.
A mass of Christian Burial was said at St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church in Longmont on Nov. 15 and interment
followed at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.

Henry Burrel Wissel
Henry Burrel Wissel of Eads, Colo., born April 8, 1915, in
Roca, Neb., died Nov. 30, 2004 at Swedish Medical Center
in Englewood, Colo. at the age of 89.
His father and mother, Henry and Viola Wissel, and
brothers Paul and Ward Wissel, precede him in death.
Henry led an active life. He was a farmer, a corporal in the
Army Air Corps during World War II and worked for the
Selective Service for 34 years. He was a full-time barber,
drove school buses for Kiowa County School District Re-1,
and was a Kiowa County employee for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruby Wissel, his
son Kenneth and wife Diane Wissel, son David and wife
Lillian Wissel, nine grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren,
one great-great grandchild, brothers Keith
and Duane Wissel, sister-in-law Ruth Wissel, brother-inlaw
Amis and wife Evelyn Buck, many nieces, nephews
and other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed
by all.
The funeral was held on Saturday, Dec. 4 at the United
Methodist Church in Eads. Henry was buried at the Eads
Cemetery.

Nursing Home Auxiliary, P. O. Box 817 Eads, CO 81036.

Luke Stadig
A six-year Bailey resident, Luke Stadig, died suddenly on
Dec. 5, 2004 at his home. He was 52.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec.
10 at the Barn at Evergreen Memorial Park. Born June 6,
1952, in Eagle Lake, Maine, he worked in home
construction. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, camper
and general outdoorsman. In 1983, he married Patricia
Ann Gregory in Kissimmee, Fla.
Survivors include his wife Pat; children Marika Stadig of
Florida, Eric Stadig of W. Va., Kim Gray of Kansas and
Richard Gray of Wisconsin; mother Lorraine Stadig of
Florida; brother and sisters, Dawn Johnson, Claire
Albritton, Star Backam, Perry Stadig, Nichol Stadig, Lisa
Stadig, all of Florida. There are four grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent in memory of Luke Stadig to Bank
of the West, 25657 Conifer Rd., Conifer, CO 80433.
